《The Alphas Unknown Daughter | ✓ (Rewritten)》Chapter Twenty-Five

I woke up with a headache, my neck and shoulder in agony from the position I was lying in. Gabriel laid next to me fast asleep, his chest rising and falling. I sat up and yawned, manoeuvring myself off the bed and towards the window.

Looking out only to see darkness. It must have been the early hours of the morning, the events of yesterday suddenly invading my mind.

Taking a step back, I see Gabriel sitting up, his back leaning against the headboard. "How are you feeling? Michael said you should have healed fully by the morning."

"I feel exhausted, but my mind is wide awake." I admitted, walking back towards the bed.

Gabriel pulled my body on top of his, his eyes scanning over my injuries, his demeanour protective and possessive as he held onto me tightly. "You can't go for runs on your own any longer, not after today."

I frowned, raising my eyebrows. "Why? You killed Olivia; she was the problem. Why would I now need a protective detail?"

"Because we've still got rogue problems, and they have been attacking small packs around us. It's safer for you as the Luna of this pack."

"Gabriel, I don't need one –" I began to say, only to be cut off immediately by Gabriel, his tone harsh. "No Lara, you're having one. I'm not having a debate with you over this. I need to concentrate, and I can't be worrying about you when you're not with me."

I growled at his tone, not appreciating his words. "The only reason that situation happened was because of Olivia. No one else."

He narrowed his eyes, low growls emitted from his mouth as he stared intently at me. "We're not having this argument Lara. I'm protecting you and our daughter and I'm not explaining myself any further."

I wanted to say more but decided to drop it, his jaw was clenching, his eyes turning black as his wolf showed up. I simply shook my head and rolled off him, moving back onto my side of the bed.

I could understand his point to a degree, but I didn't see any threat to Kennedy or I. The only danger to us was Olivia, who Gabriel had killed. He had mentioned about more frequent rogue attacks along with rogues attempting to cross our borders, but they never managed to get far.

I simply laid on my side, Gabriel eventually sighed before laying back down, his arms reaching out to grab me, pulling me to his chest. His arm draping over my stomach, kissing the back of my head before whispering, "Good night."

It was Wednesday afternoon, two days after Olivia attacked me. My werewolf genes had quickened the healing process, my wounds no longer visible as if they were never there.

Gabriel and I didn't discuss what happened any further. I had thought more about what he had said and understood where he was coming from. There was also the threat of Nate, who I hadn't considered until yesterday, when he suddenly popped into my mind.

I couldn't be certain that Nate wasn't a danger to us, but I didn't want to take the risk. Until Gabriel could conclude the rogue situation, I would stay at home or only go out when he or other pack members were with me.

It also happened to be Kennedy's first day at Kindergarten, she was so excited this morning, bouncing around eager to make new friends. She was joining Tilly's class since they were born only months apart.

They had become very close friends; they were always together. I felt anxious about Kennedy started school, the same as every mother would.

She was bouncing up and down with excitement when we had arrived, eager to get into class to start playing with all the new toys.

Gabriel had laughed at me when I cried, it was an emotional event for me. Taylor smiled amused by my reaction, she made me feel better when she admitted that she had the same reaction the first time she brought Tilly here.

"Bye mommy." Kennedy smiled, giving me kisses and running out of my arms toward Tilly who had arrived a few minutes before us. Already playing besides two boys.

Kennedy had already cuddled Gabriel and waved at us both once she realised, we were leaving.

Gabriel and I held hands as we walked back towards our house. We weren't too far from the school and Gabriel still had some pack business he needed to deal with.

He mentioned that the rogues who had trespassed a few weeks ago were being executed, he didn't trust them not to run back to their Alpha. The one who had turned rogue.

It felt wrong that they were so young, they had only just shifted but they had made decisions which had consequences. If killing them protected our pack then so be it.

"I won't be too long. I will be back before we need to leave to pick up Kennedy." Gabriel said, kissing me on the lips before heading into the opposite direction, the route of the pack prison.

It was 1 o'clock in the afternoon and Gabriel had still not arrived home, I haven't disturbed him knowing he was dealing with pack issues.

I was lying on my bed when a knock on the door had my head turning to the side. Taylor came rushing in, tears rolling down her cheeks, feeling myself panic at the state she was in, I stood up.

Walking towards her and grabbing her shoulder softly, my eyebrows frowning in concern. "Taylor, are you alright? What's going on?"

She gulped, her head shaking as her lip quivered, her shoulders shaking as tears welled deep within her eyes. She was trying to speak but couldn't, too overwhelmed in emotion.

"I-I-I" She stuttered but stopped as I directed her to the bed, pulling her towards me as I tried to comfort her.

I slid my hand up and down her back, trying to calm her down, waiting patiently for her breathing to go back to normal, her pulse no longer beating as fast. "You need to take some deep breaths and focus on your breathing." I repeated softly, waiting for Taylor to gain her composure back.

"Did something happen with Eli?" I questioned once I noticed she had calmed down, her hands now gripping mine.

She inhaled another deep breath before whispering. "I'm pregnant and I don't know what to do."

Taken back by her statement, I moved my head back, my eyes going wide. "Oh Taylor. Have you taken a couple of tests to confirm it?"

"Yeah, I took three just to be sure and they were all positive."

"It will be fine, you'll be fine." I said, my mind going back to when I found out I was pregnant, how petrified I felt. Taylor had Eli, she wouldn't need to struggle, they were mates, and they would figure it out together.

She shook her head again, the inability to speak appearing again as I held her hand tightly. "I don't know if I want to be a mom, I don't think I'm ready to be one or if I ever wanted to be one. Only the other day, Eli and I were talking about children and he made it clear that he didn't want one at this moment. How is he going to react when I tell him?"

"You've always been brilliant with Kennedy; you would make a great mom." I replied. "But you do have other options if that's the road you want to go down. Just speak to Eli about it, he's your mate and he won't be angry about this. You both clearly didn't use protection, and you can only talk about it."

"I'm just so scared, I can't believe I've been so stupid. We've been together for two months and I'm already pregnant."

I laughed, unable to stop the smile. She realised what she had said and covered her mouth with her hand. "I didn't mean that." She replied, tears welling up in her eyes as if her comment had upset me.

"It's fine Taylor," I smiled, unable to stop my grin which reflected on Taylor's facial expression. "You did better than me." We both laughed, the atmosphere not as tense as before. She had stopped crying and was now smiling.

"On a serious note, you have to speak to Eli. You can't hide your pregnancy from him."

"You have to tell him, you're pregnant." She nodded, her mouth opening in reply only to stop when the bedroom door opened fully, the sound of the door clicking never entering in our hearing.

Our conversation had been heard as a deep voice echoed through the room as we both looked up, eyes wide at the intruder.

"Wait, who's pregnant?"
