《The Reject (COMPLETED)》Chapter 6: Who Are You Trying To Fool?

Willow burst into laughter. This was too much for her. She was too old for pranks like these, what was Rowan even thinking?

Willow had once seen a so-called magic trick on a little girl, on Instagram. It went with the family pranking the girl into believing that she had gone invisible. It was hilarious.

When Willow looked up at Rowan, he had no signs of laughter on him, he looked astonished, shocked, flabbergasted, horrified and every other adjective she could find of the same kind, everything but sheepish. His face was a mixture of all those emotions that Willow's hands itched to paint another portrait of him right there and then, she could click a picture, no no no he'd think her as weird. She didn't want that.

"How old am I?" asked Willow after she was done with her marathon, well laughing did make her as breathless as running a marathon. "Five?"

Rowan blinked. "Are you serious?" Asked Rowan. He must have been dumbfounded by her laugh. She did after all have a weird laugh. She regretted laughing now, in front of Rowan that is, she had an image to hold as a not so weird person in front of him.

"Wait," said Willow. "That's supposed to be my line."

"Felix." Rowan said, suddenly.

"Felix?" Echoed Willow.

"Felix!" Now Rowan hollered. Muffled, came a reply, because of the walls that separated them.

Rowan took a hold of her hand, and let go the very next moment. He looked shocked, she did too. There was a spark, where his hand had touched her. He felt it too, that was for sure or else he wouldn't have let go her hand quickly.

"What was that?" Ashed Willow. She had once read of Static Current, which was a light electrical shock that one felt on toughing someone, that is if the other person had an extra electron, by touching it created a negative charge.

That must be it, and not some romance movie shit, things like that didn't happen in real life. even though some part of her wanted it to be that, that being 'some romantic shit', but the logical part of her knew that was impossible, after all the world was built on science.

"I," began Rowan. "I don't know." He said, staring at his hand and then looking down at her. "Are you alright?" He asked with genuine concern in his eyes, making her heart skip a beat. He looked absolutely sexy.

Well, except for the fact that you are killing me with your sexiness, I'm perfectly fine. She wanted to tell him the truth.

"I'm fine." Said Willow instead.

"Rowan?" Popped in Felix, making Willow jump. "Were you looking for me?" Felix had changed out of his attire of the day, now he was wearing a night suit, silk ones to be mentioned, and here Willow thought that boys slept shirtless.

"Yes," Rowan trailed off, though he didn't look as perturbed as she felt.

"Wait," Felix said suggestively. "Did I disturb you and whatever you were doing?"

"No, what do you think we were doing?" Said Willow. "Right!" She the remembered why Rowan had called for Felix. The portrait. And Rowan denying his eyes being golden. "Felix, what color are Rowan's eyes?"

Felix raised his brow, before turning to Rowan. "What is she talking about?" He asked as if she had just asked him if the sky was brown.

"Willow claims my eyes to be golden." Said Rowan, pointing at the portrait behind him. Felix's eyes widened.

"Golden?" Asked Felix staring at Rowan, his eyes wide open. "I only see eyes, nothing is golden on his face."

Rowan breathed out as if he had been holding it in.

"So you mean to say," started Willow. "That I am seeing things? That Rowan's eyes are blue and not golden? And you expect me to believe you?"

"The truth is what we speak." Said Felix.

"Stop talking like that!" said Willow.

"Talking like what?"

"Like that!" It was annoying her. "Like you're some weird creature."

"Weird creature?" Asked Felix. "Oh."

"Back at McDonald's you even acted like it was your first time there!"

"It was." Said Rowan. "Our first time to McDonald's that is."

"For real?"

"Yes." Replied Rowan. "Both of our parents are quite conservative."

"Oh," Willow felt guilty for flipping at them. But as she thought about it, she wondered what does conservative parents have anything to do with eating McDonalds? They couldn't have banned them from eating junk foods, right?

"I think you need to rest." Said Rowan. "You must be tired by now, we'll talk tomorrow after breakfast. Goodnight." He smiled down at her and patted her head. By the time she was aware of what had just happened both Felix and Rowan were out of the door.

She opened the door to hear Rowan and Felix converse quietly, but she caught what they were saying.

"She can see through your glamour?" asked Felix. "Whoop tea."

"I don't want sleep!" Willow hollered at them. "I want answers."

"How about both?" Asked Rowan. "Sleep now, answers tomorrow."

Willow huffed, giving in, before shutting the door.

What did Felix mean by that?

"Willow!" Screamed a very familiar voice out the phone.

"Melody," Said willow, trying to sound as enthusiastic as Melody did, but failing miserably. It was five in the morning, after not getting enough sleep the night before Willow was anything but avid.

"Facetime." said Melody.

Willow sighed, contemplating whether she should throw her phone away and sleep or Facetime Melody. She chose the latter since she didn't get enough time to Melody in the first place. Since Melody was at some summer camp her parents made her go, the very camp where more than half of the students in her school went to.

Melody was the only person who stuck with her when the bullying had started. the only one to remain with her when her other friends avoided her to avoid being bullied by Hunter's friends. She didn't blame them though, she wasn't mad at them either. Even though a part of her wanted to be, she couldn't, because she understood that bullying was like a virus, now that they are bullying her, the bullies would also start bullying Willow's friends. The same used to happen to Melody, but when she started dating JR, it all stopped.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaw." Said Melody when she came into view. "Are you sleepy? Is it still early there?"

Melody had her short purple-dyed hair, which once was blonde, tied in a ponytail, she was wearing a tank from what willow could see and her round brown eyes looked wide awake, unlike Willow's blue ones which she could hardly open from her phone glaring at her. Willow could even see her red hair, which she had tied in a braid before bed, was all over. The strands escaping her braid.

"Mel," said Willow, sitting up on her bed. "We live in the same timezone."

"Right. I totally forgot about it, since it's five in the morning." She said though she didn't sound ignorant. "I am suffering here, you should suffer alongside me." Stated Melody as if it was the most obvious thing.

Willow groaned. This was so not happening. "Well look at the bright side, you get to sleep early."

"Bright my ass." Said Melody. "Anyway, my sources told me that you were fired."

"Sources, right. So my sources spotted Jamie-Ray at the Smol Bean."

"Damn," said Melody. "Your sources are quick."

"They are," said Willow. "Very quick."

"Tell me about your tenants. Are they hot? Please be hot."

"What do I say? They are gorgeous!"

Melody squealed at the other end.

"JR will be hearing this." Deadpanned Willow.

"Traitor!" Yelled melody as she gave Willow deceived look, if that can even be called that. "How can you do this to me? You are my one and only true friend. At least that is what I've been believing in, until now."

"Okay fine! JR won't be hearing this." Willow rolled her eyes.

"So tell me."

"Well," began Willow. "There is Rowan and Felix. Felix is Natasha's nephew. Rowan is his friend."

"Which one did you hug?" Melody wiggled her brows.

"I didn't hug any of them." Said Willow, a bit too quickly. her face was already heating up.

"Oh? Then why is your face red?"

"It's not!" Said Willow. "You're seeing things." She said and regretted it the very next moment.

"Spill!" Yelled Melody and she was hushed from someone in the background. "Is it Felix?" Whisper yelled Melody before looking behind her probably at the person who hushed her.

"No."

"Rowan?."

"No." Said Willow but her traitorous face was reddening up.

"Rowan it is!" She yelled again, making her roommate scream at her to shut it. "Sorry." She said to whoever the other person was, Willow guessed it must be her roommate. Melody began moving, so all Willow could see was the ceiling and Melody's chin.

"What do you like about him?" asked Melody.

"His eyes are beautiful. They are golden." Said Willow, giving in knowing that there was no way out of this. It was now or when Melody returned.

Melody choked. "What?" asked melody. "Golden?"

"It is, you won't believe me, Rowan doesn't either."

"Rowan doesn't?"

"He says that they are blue. So does Felix. But I'm not lying, nor am I seeing things."

"Wait," said Melody. "How did you ask him?"

"I might have painted him." Said Willow quietly.

It was silent for a moment. "You what? Is this how I raised you?" Screamed Melody, since there was no one to yell at her now. "How long has it been since he moved in?"

"Four days? Five counting today."

"Wow. That was smooth."

"Really?"

"No." Said Melody. "I'll be coming back soon in a few days, and I probably won't be able to talk to you till then. But when I return, you're spilling everything." Said Melody, when someone in the background called for her. "Now bye."

Willow was left staring at her screen which had brightened. She felt wide awake. Shaking her head, Willow tried to sleep for an or two more, but sleep remained distant from her. Sighing, she got off the bed.
