《The Best Man ✔》Chapter XIV

Soft.
I felt her fingers trailing down my arm in circles before I opened my eyes to see her looking at me and her lips spread into a warm smile
“I was wondering when you'll wake up”
“It's kinda hard to sleep when someone is staring at you”, I yawned and reached out for my glasses, and she stopped me from wearing them as she held four fingers across my face
“How many fingers am I holding up?”
“Four”, I wore my glasses, and she helped to adjust them on my face. “I have poor vision, I'm not blind”
“I never said you were”, she laughed, and I rolled my eyes
“You're up early”, I propped my head up on one arm, stretching my other hand towards her in attempts to unbutton the top button on the blazer dress she had on, and she quickly slapped my hand away
“Yeah, unlike you, some of us actually have to work from nine to five to earn a living”
“I'm only seeing my first patient at 10, it doesn't necessarily mean I don't work. I just have flexible hours”
“Tell me something”, she paused to think as she climbed back on the bed
“Ooff”, I exclaimed excitedly when she straddled me and I held her firmly by the waist
“I do like where this is going”, I wiggled my eyebrows suggestively at her, and she smirked while removing my hands and pinned them down by my sides on the bed, bringing her face closer to mine while doing so
“I don't think so, not until you answer my question”, she waved her index finger side to side
“Fine”, I sulked. “What do you want me to tell you?”, I struggled with keeping my hands to myself, so I caressed her thighs while she waved her fingers in my hair, pulling my head back so that I looked up at her.
“So because you have a doctorate in psychology, does that mean I have to call you Dr?”
“I see you've been doing your research about me. I'm impressed”, I smirked, and she playfully smacked the back of my head with one hand.
“Ow”, I whimpered, and she laughed before she pinned down both my hands again
“I didn't do research on you so don't flatter yourself, Mellisa was more than happy to tell me”, she reasoned, and I shrugged before mouthing a not-so-convincing okay.

“Will calling me Dr make me sound even more irresistible?”, I grinned at her, and she rose a brow
“You're nowhere near irresistible”, she air quoted in a bored tone
“Well, I think your body begs to differ”, I managed to slip my hand in between her thighs and she grasped, her hand quickly covering mine to stop me before I could do anything further. A smirk appeared on my face when I looked at her.
“See?”, I quirked up an eyebrow, taunting her, and she rolled her eyes. “A simple touch is all it takes for you to want me”
“The only reason I reacted the way I did is because you caught me off guard”, she moved away from me to sit on the edge of the bed
“Is that all I was doing?”, I pulled my body up to bring my face inches away from hers. She was lost for words for a moment as her eyes kept dropping from my eyes to my lips and just when I was about to learn in for a kiss, she quickly stood on her feet.
“You really need to go”, she cleared her throat awkwardly while her hands brushed down on her dress, adjusting it properly, and I must admit, she really looked good in these tight fit dresses that wrap around her body, revealing her slim thick figure in all the right places. I couldn't help but study her as my eyes traveled up and down her body, capturing each glorious turn she took.
“Killjoy”, I muttered under my breath, and she flicked a middle finger at me with a smug on her face
“Wait, so no breakfast?”, I called out to her just when she was about to turn her back on me and walk out of the room
“I was going to make us some before you chose to open your mouth and ruined everything”
“Come on”, I taunted while getting up from the bed to stand opposite her. “Surely that's not all it takes to get you speechless”
She groaned whilst rolling her eyes and attempted to walk out again, but I stopped her, grabbing her with both hands on her waist
“I'm just messing with you”, I slowly pulled her back into the room and surprisingly, she didn't fight me. I sat on the edge of the bed, holding her firmly in between my legs.

“So what now?”, I pulled her down to sit on my lap
“What now, what?”
“This”, I emphasized the space between us. “What does this make us?”
“I believe it makes us two adults who are just having fun”, she titled her head to the side. “In a no-strings-attached kinda way”
“So it's just sex?”
“Yeah, casual sex”
“Casual as in no labels, no commitment and no pressure?”, I asked, and she nodded her head
“Is that what you want?”, I seeked confirmation and I saw her hesitate for a minute before nodding her head yes. She didn't seem convincing, and I just had to be certain that this is what she wanted.
“Are you sure?”, I caressed her lower back. “I want to hear you say it”
“I'm sure”, she wrapped one arm around my neck, her round beautiful brown eyes questioning towards mine. “Isn't this what you also want?”
“I mean it could work. So yeah, you can count me in”, I smiled at her and her lips turned into a faint smile before she dropped her eyes to the floor
“Listen, I know this whole situation between us counts as me using you as a rebound and everything but as cliché as it sounds, I'm just not looking for anything serious at the moment”
“I understand it's just casual, Liv, and it's not like I have any complaints so far, so I guess it's okay”
“Are you sure?”, she quirked up an eyebrow. “because we can't make this work if you and I are not in the same page”
“I'm sure, trust me”
Her lips turned up into a beautiful smile before she leaned to kiss me on the cheek and extended her arm for a handshake
“So, are we good?”
“We're good”, I took her hand in mine, and we shook on it before she stood back on her feet
“So, how do you like your eggs?”
“Scrambled, please”
After taking a shower I found her finishing up with making breakfast, I walked up to her and hugged her from behind, leaning to kiss the nape of her neck and she giggled before she peeled herself from me and pushed me towards one of the counter chairs while forcing me to sit down
“Eat”, she ordered as she placed a plate of a full house farm breakfast in front of me
“So fucking bossy”, I retorted as I chowed on a strand of bacon, and she hummed in mock amusement
“I have to be at work in a hours of time and the last thing I want is to leave you here, all alone”
“What's wrong with that?”
“A lot actually, I don't want you getting the wrong impression”
There was a knock on the door before I could respond to her, and she sighed exhaustively
“Is that another lover I should be worried about?”, I teased pointing in the direction of the door and she laughed
“That's probably my neighbor, to ask me if it's okay if she borrows some sugar for her morning coffee”, she air quoted
“Why do I have a feeling that's not the case?”
“You literally have no idea the extent Mrs Miller's meddling can get to”, she exhaled tiredly through her mouth. “She probably saw you come by last night and using this borrowing some sugar excuse to see for herself that you stayed the night”
“Wow”, I grasped amusingly. “This is really a friendly neighborhood. If I had neighbors who cared about me like this I wouldn't have moved in the first place. I'm sure my current neighbors don't even know I exist”, I joked and she threatened to hit me with a dishcloth while laughing softly.
“Shut up”, she scowled as she walked to the door, but I beat her to it as I quickly jogged past her
“What are you doing?”, she whisper shouted, stopping in her tracks
“We might as well give Mrs Miller answers to her questions and give her something to think about all week, don't you think?”, my hand turned on the door knob in the middle of her formulating a protest, and she facepalmed
The second I pulled the door open, I watched as the other pair of eyes settled on me, traveling from my head to toes questionably and my lips slightly parted in surprise. I turned my head to look back at Olivia, who's eyes were equally widened when she realized who was behind the door.
“Dad!”, she sounded nervous yet accommodatingly excited to see him. I watched as her father strode inside, staring between me and her while chewing on the toothpick in between his lips.
“What's going on here?”
