《Alpha's Moon》Chapter 38

Gabriel took long steady breaths as he watched Alex saunter away in her skin-hugging tights. How dare she be pissed? He had spent the night running off his frustration just so he wouldn't push her too far and here she stood with another man's arm around her waist...

Steady. Breathe. Gabriel calmed himself down, forcing his clenched fingers to release. If he allowed his anger to rise, the other werewolves in the room would feel it and get curious and if possible he didn't want the Korovic family noticing Alex.

Of course, it was probably already too late for precautions, thanks to one woman's rebellious nature. Care to follow me outside? Where had her anger come from, and why the hell was it both incredibly frustrating and a turn on?

Ivan and his youngest brother Mitya seemed to agree with the latter sentiment; their eyes following Alex until she was almost at the end of the street.

"Ivan," he called out, drawing the werewolves attention back in his direction. "I apologise for making you wait. Did you have a good trip over?"

"There is no need to apologise, especially for that kind of entertainment," Ivan laughed graciously. "I, however, must apologise as we have arrived both early and with an additional member." He turned to the girl next to Mitya, "My bother's girlfriend, Sofia, did not want to miss out on the post-election party. I hope you do not mind."

Sofia looked like she was in her late teens, maybe a year or so younger than Mitya, but the gleam in her eye was that of a much older woman. . The thought that came to him had weak pressure, but the words were crystal clear. A royal with good mind reading ability; that was a nice addition for the Korovic family who had a miss and hit track record for powers. While Ivan's animal control and Katya's persuasion were forces to be reckoned with, Peter and Mitya showed little aptitude for special abilities.

"The pleasure is mine, Ms Sofia." Gabriel said at length.

"Are you trying to show off with that weak trick of yours?" Katya snorted at the younger girl. "If Gabriel wanted to, he could push at your mind till you were a drooling mess." Her hand came up to touch his arm in a show of possessiveness, "That is real power."

Gabriel brushed Katya's fingers away, unimpressed with the woman's actions or words.

"Shut up, Katya," Mitya growled low, putting an arm around Sofia.

"Both of you, behave," Ivan said, his expression cold.

"Alpha Moncrief, you are gracious," Peter, the second oldest, spoke in lowered tones beside his brother. "I hope you will forgive our Katya if she has created an inconvenience to you." He smiled now, small laughter lines appearing beside his eyes. "As I'm sure you know, Katya has a tendency to attract trouble. That's why I meant to keep pace with her to ensure she didn't liven things up too much. Unfortunately we got separated due to..." The quick look he cast at his older brother said it all.

Ivan raised a brow and folded his arms across his chest. He was not a man that would be made to feel embarrassed by his lecherous ways.

Gabriel watched the interplay with interest. Peter, while acting the part of a humble man, was managing to emphasise his siblings unruly ways; un-Alpha-like ways according to some. There was power-play going on between the siblings. Something that should be looked into, but not now. At this moment, he had bigger problems.

Problems that came in the shape of an unruly woman who was out walking in the snow wearing another man's hat.

"I've had your rooms readied," Gabriel said. He took little squares embossed with MC out of his pocket and gave them all to Ivan. "And unless you've made other plans, I would suggest Petrichor for dinner. We changed our Chef recently and the results have been very satisfying. I would not want you to miss out on Chef Bisset's creations."

"Oh? A good chef is very hard to come by, but I'm glad you're satisfied with your new one." Ivan smiled, an amused glint in his eye. "We will go to Petrichor tonight."

"Great, I'll have your table reserved." Gabriel turned around to see Delores waiting a few paces away. Perfect timing. "This is our hotel manager, Delores. She will be showing you to your rooms."

"Welcome again, to the Moncrief Boston." Delores stepped forward, smiling brightly as she held her arm towards the elevators. "Please follow me, your bags have already been sent up to your rooms."
