The ride to the venue was a long walk of comfortable silence except for the music in the car.

Leo told me that ball happens every once in a year to raise money for children that suffer from polio or other paralytic diseases.

Vanessa is a paediatrician and she has her child hospital in Brooklyn. Leo also told me her mother is very passionate about kids and that made her organise this event.

Soon we reach the venue it was one of Leo's hotels but a bigger one than we had our dinner.

Leo drove the car to the back of the hotel which left me confused because the entrance was at the front.

Leo noticed my confusion.

"At the front is the media, and I don't like interacting with them and I don't wanna make you feel uncomfortable," Leo said.

"Thanks, Leo," I said.

Leo got out of the car and helped me to get down with the gown I was wearing.

My hands were sweating, suddenly I felt all the voices around me getting intensified.

I never liked parties with lots of people. It makes me very conscious of myself. I mean this event is extravagant and I don't fit in.

Leo held my hand and rubbed it with his thumb. He came close to me and pulls my chin in an upward direction so I could look him in the eyes.

"Stop overthinking, you look gorgeous. And if anyone has a problem with you they can find their way out." Leo said.

Leo said the same thing that my mind was running around. His hand rubs which ease my anxiety so much.

"Now I want you to smile like you always do and don't worry I will be there with you. Tell me what's bothering you." He asked.

"I just feel out of the place and I don't know anyone here," I said while looking at my feet.

"Savanah you know me, mom, dad, Adam and Connor we all will be having our tables together and you don't have to feel out of the place just because there are some rich jerks and princesses around here."

"Let me tell you a little secret." He came closer to me holding both my hands and my eyes went to his beautiful face which was glowing with the moonlight.

"Out of all the people in here including me, you are the most brilliant person here. Look at you you are a Doctor, anyone here is not that capable to do one great thing once in a lifetime that you do every day. You are a fucking diamond in a chamber of coal." Leo said while still rubbing his both thumbs on the back of my hands.

My eyes were soon to be flooded with tears no one has ever said to me that my profession was great except for the patients, but Leo meant every word he said. He didn't just say to make me feel better, he meant every word. I could feel the sincerity in his voice.

"And Vanessa too," I said and Leo laughed.

"Yep mamma too."

We both made our way inside the hotel.

The hotel was decorated beautifully with low golden lights and ribbons. Lots of flutes of champagne were roaming here and there.

We both made our way to Mr and Mrs Morello, Leo locked our arms together and he gave me a firm smile.

"Oh my goodness you look like a princess dear," Vanessa said.

"Thanku you look good too," I said.

Vanessa wore an ash grey gown with an elegant side bun and red lips. This woman knows how to dress up.

"You look magnificent Savanah," Ambrose said.

"Looking hot," Connor said and Leo hit him in the stomach with his elbow.

"Thank you, guys." I laughed.

After a while of chatting with Vanessa, Ambrose and Connor. We all settle down on the table.

Adam and a beautiful woman made their way to the table. That's I think Adam's fiance. She wore an emerald green strapless gown. She looked incredible.

"Hello dear, come sit this is Savanah she is a surgeon I told you about. She is Leo's date for the ball." Vanessa said.

"Hi, Savanah I have heard a lot about you and all good I am Elyse Grace." She said.

"Nice to meet you, you look very pretty," I said.

She laughed and hugged me. Okay, I have never felt this kind of affection.

"She's cute." She said.

We all settle down on the table. And waited for the event to begin.

Elyse and I kinda vibed a lot while talking.

She told me that she is a computer programmer in Leo's

company and how Adam and she met when she came for an interview.

We all were chatting and laughing so much. It feels so good to talk to people like this, I have never experienced this type of happiness. I looked at Leo, he was laughing at something Connor said.

Leo looked at me and mouthed "are you good" I smiled and nodded. Leo is so lucky to have this family.

As I was talking with Elyse a similar voice took my name, the voice has the meanest tone.

"Savanah what are you doing here?" I turned back only to see Maya.

Maya's father is a businessman so it's pretty clear she goes to such big events since she was a child.

Maya wore the dark green gown with the highest slits on both the legs and a deep plunge neckline that complimented her breasts.

Compliment her breasts are you sure Savanah.

"Hi Maya," I said. She didn't even bother to say hi to me.

"With whom did you come." She asked, why do I feel like she is being mean.

Before I could answer Leo came next to me and slid his hand on my waist and pull me close to his chest.

"She came with me Maya any problem," Leo said and his strict face was on which does scare me.

"Where did you find her? You could have asked me if you were that desperate." Maya said with a frown on her face.

Ok, now she is being rude.

"Get the fuck away from her Maya before I pluck your hair with my bare hands and puncture one of your tits with my heels," Elise growled.

Elyse is dangerous.

"No need to get violent, Savanah and I are friends." She winked at me and left.

"Why are you friends with that witch," Elyse said.

"Okay, she is not that mean," I said and both Leo and Elyse glared at me.

"Okay she is a lot mean and I don't know we work in the same hospital and she is also in the same resident year as with me and Me and Dr Gwen," I said.

Leo still had his hand on my waist I looked at him and he looked at my face to find whether I am okay or not. I smiled and him and nodded.

I then excuse myself from the table and went to the washroom. Elyse also joined me.

"Savanah you have to stay away from her, she used to be obsessed with Leo," Elyse said.

"It's okay, we are not even that close," I said.

Elyse smiled at me and we both left the bathroom to return to our table. From the corner of my eyes saw Maya glaring at me but I ignored her.

I took my seat next to Leo. Soon the event started and the auction began.

There were jeweller pieces, paintings and many more things.

After the auction people started dancing. I saw Vanessa and Ambrose dancing they dance so adorably like teenagers at a prom. Giggling and messing around.

I was looking at them and drinking my champagne a hand came next to me. I looked at the owner of the hand and it was Leo.

"May I have a dance with you?" Leo asked.

"You may." I placed my hand in his hand and got up to dance.

We both went to the centre of the stage to dance. With Leo's one hand on my waist and the other in my hand, we both started to dance slowly.

"I am sorry for Maya she is....." Before he could say anything I can't him off.

"It's okay, I know you don't have to explain it," I said.

"No, it's not that she is just very crazy promise me if she does anything crazy to you, you will tell me," Lei said his eyes were concerned.

"She won't be able to I know boxing," I said with pride.

"You know what?" Leo asked with amusement in his voice.

"Yup I do learn boxing, didn't you remember when I tackled you to the ground in the hospital," I said.

"Oh, I remembered you surprised me. Leo chuckled.

We both danced with no care in the world Leo's hand started caressing my back. Which felt good.

"You look beautiful Savanah, too good to be true," Leo said like he was just talking to himself but looking in my eyes.

"Thank you," I murmured.

My cheeks were sure beet red and I started to bite my lips.

"Don't bite that," Leo said in a demanding voice, which made me stop biting them.

It was 2 hrs after midnight and Leo decided we should take a leave.

We bid goodbye to his parents and Elyse and I exchanged our phone numbers I guess I will have a new friend.

I took off my heels and sat inside his car.

Soon we both reached my apartment, Leo came inside my apartment and sat on the couch.

I went inside the kitchen to pack him some muffins. I took a Tupperware container and packed 10 muffins for him.

And I put 2 muffins on the plate to give to him. I brought the plate out and kept it on the centre table.

"Eat," I said and Leo took a muffin and started eating it.

"These are delicious," Leo said with his mouth full.

"Thank you," I said while throwing myself on the couch opposite to him. Leo was stuffing his moth with the second one too.

I chuckled and gave him some water before he choke on the crumbs.

After eating the muffins Leo stood up from the couch to leave.

"Thank you for coming with me tonight," Leo said.

"I enjoyed it a lot, your family is lovely," I said.

As Leo was about to leave he turned and hugged me, this hug was different from the rest hugs he gave me. It was tight like he was afraid to let me go. But I liked it. I didn't complain and wrapped my hands around his torso.

He unwrapped me from the hug and kissed me on my head. That's the first time he did it. It utterly put me in shock. It also felt good. It made me feel safe. Friends do it all the time.

You know Savanah he didn't do it in a friendly way.

"Bye Tesoro," Leo said.

I never really understand his Italian and when I am about to google the word, I forget what the word is so now I just ignore it.

"Bye Leo," I said and closed the door.

Something is happening to me, my heart is beating faster than usual. But it's something good happening, I feel good.
