《The baby swap》Chapter 11: The baby take over plan

I walked out of the hospital in a hurry. I couldn't believe those idiots. They couldn't get one simple thing right, inseminate the right person.

Now my simple problem just became more complicated and complex.

The plan was someone who would carry my child for nine months and then disappear afterwards. And now it seems I may be eternally bounded to Zoe.

A baby mama is clearly a boat load of issues I never planned on.

The thing is, I'm not good at commitments, of any kind. This would just make 'parenting' a lot harder (not that I planned on).

The only way to 'uncompletecate' this was for me to get full custody of my child, at any cost. Maybe afterwards she'd disappear out of our lives.

I needed to clear my head and think, what I knew was she most definitely wasn't going to be a part of my kid's life.

I didn't want to argue with her right now or do anything that would jeopardize my child's health.

I unlocked my car and got in, a few faces staring at my car.

I drove away out of the parking lot. I still had a couple more things to deal with today that I couldn't neglect.

We had a pitch in a few days for our new investors. I wasn't about to allow every aspect of my life to turn into a mess, the least I could do was put my business in order. I don't usually work on weekends but I was behind schedule.

My office stuff, including my assistant worked six days a week including Saturdays so they'd be people to keep me up to date.

Minutes later, I had arrived at the headquarters.

I stormed through the building heading to my office.

"Afternoon sir," Rosie greeted as I walked into my office.

I motioned for her to follow me.

"Can you call Hank to come in my office now," I said.

Rosie nodded then rushed out of my office.

Hank was the head for our new pitch in Brazil, next week.

Lots of potential investors were coming to Brazil from around the world. We had a couple new models of our private jets to pitch. This could bring billions into the company.

Minutes later Hank walked in. Rosie closed the door behind him.

"How is the pitch going?" I asked.

"It's great sir, we fixed everything you pointed out. We are ready for the presentation." He said.

Hank has always been efficient, he does everything he's told and the way I instruct for it to be done.

"If you'd like sir, you could review it. We'd still have two days to fix anything you ask." he suggested.

"Two days?" I asked confused.

"Our presentation is in three days time," he confirmed.

I had completely lost track of time. I was an entire week behind schedule. Good thing my team didn't always wait on me before they acted.

"I completely forgot," I whispered to myself, not loud enough for Hank to hear. I didn't want to encourage anyone to be forgetful.

This meant I'd be traveling to Brazil tommorow morning. The whole thing would take about a week, there were a couple other people presenting as well, from fast cars to yachts.

Maybe I'd be able to attend the carnival.

"You can go now," I said dismissing him.

He nodded and walked out of my office.

I pressed my intercom calling for Rosie.

"You called sir," she said walking in.

"Could you please contact the private investigator, tell him I need to see him urgently." I instructed.

"Do you need anything else?" She asked.

"No," I answered. She walked out of my office again.

I needed to know everything about the woman carrying my child. It's tragic enough that this happened.

When I left the clinic after the meeting with Doctor Fell, I made sure to transfer half a million into Zahra's account. It's not her fault that things didn't go according to plan besides, she needed the money. I've never paid any before who hadn't completely the job but I made an exception with her. I guess she reminded me of my mother.

I had a fever proposals that needed to be reviewed and contract and cheques that needed to be signed for the construction of our new private airport here in New York.

I heard a loud bang on my door.

Who could it be? No one came to my office without informing me unless it was urgent, let alone someone banging on my door like that.

Before I could respond, the doorknob turned followed by a foot stepping in.

The door flew open revealing a derived looking Justin.

I shouldn't have been surprise.

"What are you doing here?" I asked annoyed.

I had a lot to catch up on and having him here wasn't going to help.

"I went to your house but JoJo said you hadn't returned." he said.

He could have called me (but then again I would have simply ignored him).

"You're working, so my guess is your appointment with the doctor didn't go too well." he said. He knew me too well.

I dropped my pen onto my desk.

"You can't even imagine," I said.

I slouched into my chair.

"It's okay if she didn't get pregnant, you can always try again with someone else." he said.

"Someone did get pregnant alright, just not the right person." I said.

He took a seat while I explained everything to him.

He stared at me confused processing all of my words.

"This is perfect then," he suddenly spoke after I had finished explaining.

"Did you just listen to a thing I said!" I exclaimed.

Sometimes I wonder why the two of us are friends.

"I did, I think this is perfect. You didn't want to do the whole father thing anyways. You were going to send the child off. This way, your child would be well taken care of. You won't have to be anything more than the ATM dad." he said.

It was easy for him to say considering, his dad was one of those. His father only contacted him so he'd have someone inherit his clubs.

"She'd probably be the kind of mother who wouldn't allow my kid to own a video game." I said.

"Video games are bad for you," he defended. "Think about it," he insisted.

"You know I hate sharing," I altered.

And it was true. I was going to make sure I got full custody of my child.

I hope the private investigator could find some dirt on her so I would be able to say she isn't suitable to be a mother.

As if this was perfectly timed, Rosie walked in with the PA behind her.

Justin recognised him, he turned to me as if you had read my mind.

"Tell me you didn't," he whisper to me.

"Yep," I whispered back.

"Please come in," I said welcoming the PA in.

He sat on the chair next to Justin.

The private investigator's name was Bryson Collins. Sebastian had suggested him to me years ago, he's been very useful.

He's good at finding out things, even the well hidden ones. He has a whole team that works with him. He is very efficient besides, he's investigations don't usually take longer than a few days.

"I need you to get information about a woman for me, her name is Zoe Morgans." I said getting straight to the point.

Bryson took a small notepad from his jacket and wrote Zoe's name down.

Justin slouched in his chair shaking his head at me in disapproval.

"I need to know everything about her," I said.

"Everything?" Justin said interrupting me. "Isn't that too much of a privacy intervention?" he asks.

"I don't care," I snapped. "I want a list of all the guys she has slept with if necessary," I continued.

There was an awkward silence in the room for awhile.

"This sounds easy enough, I should have the information by tonight." Bryson said.

"Thank you," I said calmly.

"You should receive a package tonight, it will have all the information. Please call me once you do receive the package." Bryson continued.

He got up from his chair. "I'll get to work now," he said. He nodded with gratitude before walking out of my office.

"So you really going to stand that low?" Justin mocked.

"Yes," I answered proudly.

She never really had a chance against me. That's just how things work, if you have money there is nothing it won't solve.

"You should probably leave, I have work to do." I said.

Justin sighed.

"It's a Saturday. Besides, it's already late." Justin said.

"I still have work to do. Unlike you, I actually do mine." I mocked.

"You are the boss Alexandra. I'm sure whatever it is, it can wait. They need you more than you'll ever need them." He said.

He was right, I could use a break from all of this.

After all, tomorrow I'd be traveling to Rio.

" Fine," I said.

I checked my watch to see it was already six p.m..

I walked out of my chair. Justin displayed a cheerful smile, that he had convinced me to do something.

"You should go home," I said to Rosie as I walked out.

Justin got into his car and I am mine.

We were heading to my penthouse so we could relax and 'chill'.

Justin's car followed behind mine.

Traffic wasn't as bad at this time, Maybe later on in the evening when people would be heading to clubs.

We parked our cars in my garage among my large collection of sports cars.

I was welcomed into my penthouse by the smell of JoJo's cooking.

"Hmm," Justin mumbled as we walked in.

"Boys!" JoJo said popping out from the kitchen. "Are you guys hungry? I made dinner." she said.

"No thank you, I'm not hungry." I answered.

"Speak for yourself," Justin interrupted.

"I made your favourite cookies," she said to me.

After many years, she still spoiled me and bribed me with food. Something's just never change.

"That would be great," I answered.

"Could you bring them to the bar room," I asked.

Justin left the room to the bar. I had a pool table among other entertainments in there. Justin and I spent most of our time in there when we weren't at clubs.

"Beer?" I asked opening the refrigerator.

"Yes," Justin answered.

I took two beers out, one for him and the other for myself.

I handed him his beer.

Justin and I played on the pool table for a while.

"So what are you really planning on doing with the whole baby issue?"Justin asked hitting the ball.

"Did someone say baby?" JoJo asked walking in.

She was holding a tray with two plates in it. The one plate was filled with cookies and the other with lasagna.

So Justin told her everything.

For the two of them, this was all a joke.

Jojo continued to laugh.

"This is why you should have had the child the natural way. You should have settled down and had a proper family," she mocked. She continued laughing.

I stood in the corner with my arms folded watching the two of them laugh.

Soon, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it," I yelled.

Usually I never answered the door but I was willing to do anything to get away from the two of them.

It might have been the 'package'. Bryson always worked fast.

"Are you Mr Forbes?" the delivery guy asked as I opened the door.

"Yes," I answered.

"From Mr Collins," he said handing me a package.

I could tell it was a bunch of papers all wrapped in red wrapping paper.

"Thanks," I said taking it from his hands.

He smiled at me in return as he walked away.

I closed the door.

I walked back into the bar room. JoJo had already gone. Justin was eating my cookies relaxed on my couch.

He had already turned the TV on and was watching the highlights from the previous soccer game.

"Already?" He asked after noticing the package in my hand.

"Yep," I answered.

Justin came over to me, wanting to see what was in it.

I placed it on the pool table and ripped the wrapping paper open.

It revealed a stack of pages.

The pages were all stapled into a booklet with a picture of Zoe on the cover.

I dialed Bryson's number and placed my phone on loud speaker. My placed my phone on the pool table.

I scanned through the document. Justin had his arms folded staring at me in disapproval.

"So you've received the information sir?" Bryson asked answering the phone, his voice echoed in the room.

"Yes," I answered.

"You might want to sit tight for this one," he warned.

I took the booklet along with my phone and sat on the couch in there far corner of the room where Justin had been sitting.

Justin followed me with the plate of cookies in his hand.

"At first when we investigated her, everything seemed pretty legit about her. She owns a small cafe. She doesn't have any criminal records. Not even a speeding ticket. That's when we started looking deeper into her, I send some people to ask around." He said.

He seemed pretty sure of himself, he kept talking while I waited for him to say something useful.

"That's when we found something," he continued. "A few years back, there was a fire at a house. The neighbor saw her setting it on fire. She reported it to the owner the next day but she was never charged. The owner of the house also happens to be her ex-fiance. It happened around the same time they broke up." He continued.

There it was, something worth my while.

"That's great," I said smirking.

"That was the only suspicious thing we managed to get on her, I'll call you if we get any other information." He said.

"Thank you," I said. "You'll be compensated generously for this."

I hung up the phone.

"Seems like you got what you wanted," Justin commented.

"Yep," I answered. "With this information, I'll be able to prove she's a psychopath who shouldn't keep my child." I said.

"How are you going to prove that? You'll need more than just what your private investigator told you to prove that," Justin said.

He took another cookie into his mouth.

"I'll pay her ex-boyfriend off if I have to," I said.

At least now I'd be able to make sure everything goes my way.

After my trip to Rio for the next week, I'd have everything in my control. I finally have leverage on her.
