《The baby swap》Chapter 6: Surrogate

"Are you sure you want to go through with this? I was only joking when I suggested it," Justin said.

"Yes," I said. "Now bring the first girl in." I snapped.

It had been a week since Justin suggested the idea. I had fully convinced myself that this was the only way and, it was. It was the only way everyone would get what they wanted.

I still couldn't wrap my head around marriage or marry someone just because I wanted to have a baby.

I wouldn't be able to be faithful.

Marriage was too big of a commitment for me.

We were at Justin's house. We agreed to do the interviews here. I didn't want girls showing up at my pent house.

JoJo had decided to come along. Her excuse was since she would never get a chance to plan my wedding, the least she could do was help me find a baby mama.

"I've made a lot of stupid decisions but this, is the worst." He continued.

"You think," I muttered under my breath.

He didn't reply.

"Why are you trying to talk me out of this?" I asked.

"I feel like it's my responsibility, since I was the one who gave you the idea." He answered.

I rolled my eyes at him turning away.

"That was the first senseful thing you've ever said Justin," JoJo commented as she walked in.

She had a tray of cookies in her hands.

"You should listen to her, she is like a hundred years old." Justin joked.

Jojo placed the tray in front of us on the coffee table.

"I don't want you to go through with this Alex," Justin whined.

"And why?" I questioned.

"Because I know you, you might act tough and all that, but you have a heart. As soon as you have the baby, you won't have time for anything else or me," he whined.

I can't believe he was making this about him.

"I won't. Everything will still be the same. I've already arranged a day care center and a private boarding school. I'll hardly see the child. They'll raise the child better than I ever can." I said.

I had already thought everything through.

"I know you, you'd never be able to leave your child. I know your parents death hurt you, you'd never leave and do the same thing to your child. For your child to be alone and go through the same thing you did, or worse." He said.

He knew my parents were a tough subject for me but he still said it anyways.

A part of what he said was true, maybe I wasn't capable of leaving my child.

I can't believe I was over thinking this.

"I have everything under control," I said dismissive.

I took a cookie from the tray.

"Your parents wouldn't have wanted you to go through with this, they would have wanted you to settle down and have a family." JoJo said.

"They dead now. It's not like they have a say in the matter." I said nonchalant.

I placed the cookie in my mouth chewing it to bits.

"Send the first girl in," I said with a mouthful.

We were so in Justin's launch. All the girls were standing outside on Justin's porch waiting to be interviewed.

JoJo walked out to the kitchen.

Justin rolled his eyes at me and took a deep breath knowing he had lost.

He stood up from the couch and walked outside. Minutes later, he came back with a girl walking beside him.

"This is Alex, he is the soon to be father." Justin said. "Alex, this is Alice." He continued.

She looked like she was in her mid twenties. She had green hair while wearing a crop top and shorts even though it was cold.

"Why exactly are you interested in being a surrogate?" I asked.

"Well..." She started. "My boyfriend of two weeks just cheated on me with my ex best friend. I know they dated first and then he cheated on her with me but what he did was totally uncool." She said.

I stared at her with both my eyebrows raised.

"It would be a total upgrade if some rich guy would knock me up. I want to show him how better off I'm doing." She continued.

She clearly had some issues, there was no way I'd have a child with a deranged woman.

Justin was standing behind her speechless with both his hands in his pockets.

"I totally hate babies, I mean they disgusting. But, I thought it would be really cool," she said. "Even though I'll be all fat with stretch marks." She added.

"Thank you so much for coming," I said. "We'll contact you," I lied.

Justin showed her the way out.

"Do you like her?" Justin said walking back in.

I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or not.

"Like her? Do you think I'm trying to have a hooker child who has no sense of reality," I said.

"If your child ever has any of those traits it would be from you," he mocked.

I rolled my eyes him. I sinked myself into the couch trying to calm down.

"Just bring in the next one," I said.

"Yes sir," he said sarcastically as he walked out.

He came back in with another girl.

This one looked gothic with piercing all over her face.

"Her name is Talia," Justin said.

He took a seat next to me spreading his arms on the couch.

"Why are you interested in being a surrogate?" I asked.

"Oh, is that what we doing here?" She asked.

That's when I smelled the alcohol in her breath.

She looked the same way I did the last time I saw my parents, high.

"I just saw a bunch of girls lining up outside, my friends and I decided to stop by." She continued.

I knew finding a surrogate would be difficult but I didn't expect it to be this impossible.

"The door is that way." I said pointing at the door interrupting her from any further unpleasantries.

It took her awhile to barge. Justin had to walk her out of the gate, how did she even get here?

"Where did you get these girls!" I exclaimed.

"I put out some ads," he answered.

"Ads? I thought you were contracting a agency." I said.

"What's the difference?" He said scratching the back of his head.

'They professionals,' I said to myself mentally.

I should have done this myself.

"Just give them a try. I'm pretty sure that after a few more tries you'll find the one," he said reassuring me.

So I did, I gave it a couple more tries.

Most of the women were either mentally disturbed, possible drug addicts or completely swallow minded.

It was all about money for them, they would probably keep coming back even after the baby is born for more money.

I know I didn't care much about the child but a mother who is responsible would be great, even if it's only for nine months.

"My name is Zahra," the next interviewee announced.

"Why would you like to be a surrogate?" I asked. I was tied of repeating the question.

This was now my fifteenth interview. I was stress eating on the cookies, I had already finished two batches of cookies.

"My husband is sick, he has been for awhile. He has to have this operation over seas and we can't afford it. I'm trying to raise some money, no one will help us." She said.

Her eyes became teary as her tears threatened to fall.

There was a part of me that sympathised with her. Maybe it was because she reminded me of my mother.

My mom wasn't born in money like my dad.

"Would you be okay with leaving your baby, to save your husband?" Justin asked.

"Yes, as long as he is well taken care of with all the love he needs. I would never be able to afford for a baby, my husband and I don't plan on having kids." She said.

At least she showed compassion. It was something my baby needed with all my bad karma. With that compassion I doubt my child would leave me on my death bed.

"I'd love to be your surrogate mother but, I won't be able to have the baby naturally with you," she said shyly. "I'm committed to my husband," she continued.

"Done," I said boldly.

It couldn't be better.

This was as close as I could come today. I think she's perfect for the job. It wasn't just about money for her, it was for something good. It was a character I hardly saw in women.

"Thank you sir," she said. "For the opportunity, my husband and I really need this," she finished.

I let out a small smile.

I wish there was someone who cared for me the way she did for her husband.

"We'll contact you. I'll setup a contract first, for reassurance." I said.

She gave me a quick nod before walking out.

Justin waited until she was gone before he spoke.

"I can't believe you just agreed to that," Justin said.

"Why?" I asked.

"I mean, considering you like to screw so much. I thought you'd want to make the baby the natural way." He said.

"I completely respect her decision. She is the best candidate. Besides, it's better this way. No feelings ever have to get involved plus, it's completely different when you know you screwing for a baby. There is so much pressure." I said.

He didn't answer.

"Can you tell all the other girls to go," I said. "I need your help to find some kind of insemination center," I continued instructing him.

I had done proper research, even for methods I hadn't really considered.

"At this rate, you might as well pay me as your assistant. In return for this, I want sponsorship for all my clubs." He demanded.

"Fine," I said.

"I didn't think it would be that easy," he said.

He walking out of the room.

I was a step closer to having my freedom, then I'd finally be free to live my life again.
