《The baby swap》Chapter 5: Sperm selection

Zoe's POV
I continued typing on the Google search engine then pressed enter.
I was doing some research on clinics that sold sperm samples instead of asking some random guy for his, I can imagine how that conversation would go.
"Can I go home now?" Reina whined.
Raina was sitting on my bed while I sat at the computer on my bedroom table.
She was helping me with the research.
I had already told quite a lot of people that I was going to do this, so people would be expecting me to be pregnant soon. I can't back out now.
"No," I said. "I still need your help,"
"Why don't you just adopt child like a normal person?" She said.
"Because adoption takes time, sometimes even years. It's not always easy to adopt a child," I answered.
"Do you really want to go through with this? This could cost you a lot of money, sperm isn't cheap," she said.
'Unless it's from some drunk guy.' I thought.
"I have money saved up, I was planning on opening my new cafe so I'll have to put that on hold plus, I go on a holiday every year, I can use that money I have saved up." I said.
I had already thought this through, money wasn't going to stop me from having a baby.
Reina turned to look away.
I could tell she was dozing off to sleep while researching on her laptop.
I shook my head at her returning to my research.
I had called a lot of clinics but most of them seemed sketchy. The other clinics didn't offer that many options plus, for the options of sperm they had, they didn't have much information about the donors.
I'd like to have an idea of how my baby would look or if the father had any genetic illnesses I should know about.
My phone vibrated on my table next to my keyboard.
My brother's name popped up on my screen. I was wondering when he would call me, usually it was to babysit.
Noah and I are twins, but we are two completely different people.
I picked my phone up pressing answer.
"Hi," I answered in a why the f are you calling me tone.
"Hi sis, mom called me to tell me you stopped by yesterday." He said in a sardonic tone.
"What exactly did she tell you?" I asked resting my back on my chair.
I knew this was going to be a long conversation. Noah was clearly trying to rub salt into my wounds.
"That you wanted to get a sperm donor. Except she said it anger. I had to listen to her for 13 minutes before I finally figured out what she was saying. Thanks to you, you are now officially the biggest disappointment in the family." He mocked.
I rolled my eyes.
"Why don't you just get some random guy to knock you up?" He said.
"Because I'm not a walking nightstand like you," l stated.
He let out a cachinnation.
Immediately, I could hear baby Sofia crying in the background.
Her cry amplified as her voice got louder through the phone.
"I think I woke her up," Noah whispered into the phone.
I could hear his foot steps as he walked to her.

I could tell he was trying to sooth her by the baby song she sang to her as she continued crying.
"Trust me, you don't want to have kids. What if they are twins? There are already too many twins in our family, you and I are an example. Would you still be able to look after them?" He asked trying to speak over Sofia's cry.
Sofia was only 5 months old but she looked too smart for her age.
"Yes, I've already made up my mind." I said.
I'm tied of people thinking I can't do this.
I could tell Sofia was starting to calm down.
"You know, I'm still hurt that I had to find out through mom." He said.
"Don't be offended, it's not like you take anything seriously." I said.
He laughed.
"Trust me, if I hadn't heard it from mom, I would have thought it was a joke." He said. "You could have still told me, I could have helped you," he added.
"How could you have helped me." I asked.
"First of all, I know a couple of guys who would be willing to knock you up for free." he said letting out a laugh.
"Seriously?" I said.
"I'm just kidding. There's this woman I used to hook up with, she's a doctor. She works at this clinic that helps women getting pregnant, including single mothers. Even celebrities go with there. I could give you her phone number, she could give you a discount or something." he said.
"That's great, thank you." I said.
"I'll send you her phone number as soon as I talk to her first." He said.
"Thanks again, I muttered.
"Bye, I need to make Sofia's bottle," he said.
He hung up the call.
At least I was one step closer to having my baby, let's just hope I could trust Noah to do this one thing for me.
Reina was already fast asleep, her laptop still opened next to her.
I took a blanket for my cupboard covering her with it.
I waited for Noah's message while watching the latest episodes of Dynasty in my launch.
My phone vibrated on my coffee table. I snached it as I lifted my head from the couch.
Noah's message popped up on my screen.
He sent me her number along with a message:
I talked to her about you. She said she'd like to talk to you personally. You can call her between now at 10 p.m. BTW her name is Fellon Fell, call her doctor Fell.
The message read.
I sat up straight on the couch.
It was now 9 p.m.
I might as well call her now. I turned the TV off not wanting any interruptions.
I dialed the number Noah sent me, I put it on loud speaker.
Reina walked into the sitting room coming from my bedroom. She was rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
Sometimes she slept over but not usually on work days.
I had to call doctor Fell a couple of times before she finally answered.
I guess she was a busy woman.
"Doctor Fell, hello." She said answering the phone.
She finally answered after the fifth call.
"Hi, this is Zoe Morgans. Noah gave me your number." I said.

"Oh yes, he mentioned you in our conversation." She said. "Noah mentioned that you wanted to get inseminated and that you're looking for a sperm donor." She said.
There was no way Noah knew what the word inseminated meant.
"Yes," I said. "Is there a way you could help me?" I asked.
"Yes, our clinic specializes in just that. Why don't you come to my office tommorow morning. So we can talk, in person." She said.
I was sitting on my legs, biting my thumb nervously as she spoke.
"Yes, that would be great," I said.
Reina held two thumbs up.
"I'll send you the address of the clinic and at what time to meet me." She said.
"Thanks again," I said.
"Bye," she said then hung up.
I was officially a step closer to being a mommy.
"So, this is really happening," Reina said sitting beside me.
I was still bitting my thumb.
"Yes," I replied.
I was still a little bit in shock. A part of me had some doubts. It was a decision I made in a rush and didn't properly think it through.
But just the thought of having my baby in my arms warmed my heart. I knew it was the right decision.

I was frantically running up and down the house. I had an appointment with doctor Fell at 8 a.m. I had already called Samuel to tell him I'd be arriving late and that he should open the shop.
I was nervous about my appointment. I was running around the house looking for things I may need for my appointment.
I stopped in my tracks.
I took a deep breath, "Everything is going to be okay," I said to myself.
I took my car key from the hook near my front door.
I locked my door then took the elevator downstairs.
I got into my car. I typed the clinics address into my GPS before driving to the place.
I felt like I was driving for the first time, my hands were shaking and my pulse was racing, I didn't know planning on having a baby would be this nerve racking.
I arrived at the clinic. The clinic wasn't your typical over crowed clinic swarming with patients.
I could smell the chemical as I walked in, it didn't give me a sickening feeling like most hospitals and clinics do.
I could see my reflection on the marble floor as my foot steps echoed.
I walked to the receptionist.
"How can I help you ma'am," the receptionist asked looking up from her computer with a bright smile.
She had a name tag on her uniform written Mia on it.
"I have an appointment with doctor Fell, is she in?" I asked.
"Yes, please follow me ma'am," she said.
She walked out of her desk, another receptionist came in her place.
She led the way down the hall way.
She stopped at the last door in the hall that had the name: doctor Fell written on it.
The receptionist gestured to the door with a warm smile before walking away.
I raised my hand to knock but stopped myself. After this, there was no way I'd be able to back out. I started making a list of cons and pros, the positive out weighted the negative. What was the worst that could happen?
I knocked on the door.
Dr Fell opened the door seconds later.
She was a middle aged woman with dirty blond hair that was tied into a neat ponytail. She wore reading glasses and a white lab coat.
Her dark eyes stared at me for a moment as if she was trying to recognize me.
"I've been expecting you," she finally spoke.
I let out a nervous smile feeling a bit unsettled.
"Please come in," she said gesturing me forward.
I walked into the room holding my hands together in front of me.
She closed the door behind us then walked to her desk.
"Please take a seat," she said.
She took a seat in her large office chair then rested her hands on the table.
I pushed the chair back and sat down.
"So you are Noah's sister," she said.
"Yes," I said. "Unfortunately," I muttered under my breath, but she didn't hear it.
"He hadn't called me or replied to my texts in a month, until last night." She said.
Noah was quite the ladies man. I just hadn't realized he had that big of an effect on women.
"Getting back to the topic, we have a couple sperm samples available." She said.
She pulled a few folders from her drawer. "These contain information about our donors such as their physical characteristics, their behavior, their family history and so on." She said putting the folders down on the desk. "It has all the information you may need." She continued.
She handed the first folder to me.
"Usually we would expect our clients to pay the full amount and the deposit first but I'm willing to make an exception for you. We could work up some sort of discount for you," she said.
"Thank you," I said.
"Once you have purchased the sperm, there is a procedure you have to go through first. We would like to run some tests on you, to see if you'll be able to carry the baby. If you can't, we'll refund your full amount, except for that of the tests." She continued explaining.
She pushed the files over to me.
"We have detailed information on our donors. All the information you need is in these files." She paused.
She got up from her chair checking their watch. "I'll leave you to it, I have another patient now but I'll be back as soon as I can." She continued.
She gave me a small smile of reassurance before walking out.
Why would anyone leave a stranger in their office?
That's when I noticed the small camera in the corner of the room. I pushed the thought aside.
I slid the files closer to me. I opened the first one.
Age: 32
Eye color: chest nut brown
Height: 1.67
Hair color: blonde
Skin tone: Fair
I was closer to having my baby.
Right now I just had to decide if my baby could have blond hair or not, be tall or short. I rubbed my belly as if I was already expecting.
