《Married To The Don》T W E N T Y- T W O

I was getting more and more anxious as time passed by minutes turned into hours. We had been sitting and waiting in the safe room for a very long time as Brandon kept coming in and going back out to check around the estate just in case someone managed to come in again.
" Still no message from him? " I asked glancing at Brandon's phone.
" He should be back soon. " Brandon replied as he paced around the room with his phone held tightly in his hand.
" Wait. Where is Kaitlyn? Did she go with Seth? " Victoria asked cocking an eyebrow at Brandon.
" Looking for Kaitlyn was the last thing on my mind tonight so I do not know where she is. The girl has been trained all her life, she knew how to take care of herself, don't worry. " he said.
" I'm not worried about her. I just don't want her close to my brother, that's all. " Victoria shrugged.
Kaitlyn. How come I didn't think of her? Trained all her life, knew her way around the estate like the back of her hand, but a trusted member of Seth, basically grew up together, she couldn't be betraying him right?
But, then again the estate seemed so impossible to break in. I had been here for weeks and not even a single package got through with Seth's knowledge let alone multiple men.
" The Don is back. " Noel announced from the other side of the wall cutting my thought short.
Relief flushed through my whole entire body at the news that I had just heard. Victoria rushed to the sliding door with my hand in hers, with beaming smiles on both of our faces we ran liked we hadn't ran before out of the room with Brandon trailing close behind us.
Men and women dressed in black leather were surrounded around the house. There were at least fifty people in the estate right now, it was the first time that I had seen the estate so crowded since my arrival.
We stepped down the stair case quickly with my eyes scanning around the room hoping to catch a certain pair of intimidating grey eyes.
" Ma'am, we are so sorry. We couldn't do our job well enough. " a tall bulky man with black hair bowed as I walked passed him into the living room.

What?
" Don had been shot. But, we got the Vipers leader. " another men said.
My heart sank deep into my stomach as I raced through the crowded room. I did not care if they got the damn leader or not. I just wanted to see my husband.
More people kept coming my way blocking me from the living room view. I glided passed all of them without saying a word. I just wanted to go in and see what the hell happened before I decided if I should murder all of them.
The scene fold in front of me made my blood ran cold. I was numb in my spot as I stared at the men I had been wanting to see all night lying on the couch with blood covered his clothes.
I had never really approved of his way of living, by killing to survive, murdering and taking lives in cold blood. But, at this moment I didn't feel ashamed to wish the blood that was on him was somebody's else and not his.
Beside him kneeled a raven haired woman whom I had just learned that she used to be his sweetheart during high school days. Her hand was in his gripping tightly as if her life was depend on it.
But, the man I called my husband on the other hand, even in his almost unconscious state was trying to pull away just to fulfill his promise to me that he would not touch another female species.
I stepped toward them with trembling hands and admiration burning in my chest as I watched his weak effort of trying to keep her away.
" Leave. " I said calmly at the woman.
She did not budged a single muscle but kept still and continued caressing his hand.
" Noel? Move her, will you? " I nodded my head in my bodyguard's direction.
He came rushing in and successfully dragged her to the corner of the room despite her efforts of fighting to stay by his side.
I kneeled down and took his hand into my mind. Seth smiled weakly at me.
" Do enlighten me why the hell are you not in a damn hospital. " I glared at the man who was almost on his death bed.
" He refused to go to the doctor, Ma'am. " a man shouted from across the room.

" I want to see you before going. " he said caressing my hand totally ignored the fact that one his men just threw him under the bus.
" Now is not the time to be cheesy, Don Salvatore. " I grunted under my breath.
He chuckled away liked he hadn't been shot in multiple places. And, hit in the head?
" Shut up. And, let the doctors take care of you alright? " I asked looking at him with a smile trying not to break down.
" You look horrible. " I murmured earning another chuckle from him.
We had just been married. Even if it was arranged, I did not wish for it to end so soon. We hadn't even enjoyed our moments together, hadn't moved into our own house, hadn't learned to like each other like we were supposed to, hadn't went on adventures. He couldn't leave me right now. He better stayed.
" Whatever you say. I will be good to the doctors. " he chuckled weakly.
" Stay with me? " I asked stroking his cheeks.
There were cut and bruises all over his face and body, blood was trailing down from his forehead, but this insane man still managed to hold his title as the most handsome man in the room.
" Always. " he nodded before closing his eyes.
A single tear that I tried so hard to hold in slipped through eyes but I quickly wiped it away. He wouldn't want me to shed my tear.
The family doctors soon rushed in and took the now unconscious Seth down into the estate mini hospital. I watched as they took him away with a clenched in my heart. Victoria was sobbing nearby somewhere but I couldn't look at her or else I would also broke down.
I couldn't be weak in front of all these men who looked up to my husband and me. I couldn't show any weakness at all.
" All of you go home and take some rest. Be back at the early morning tomorrow. We aren't safe yet. " my voice echoed through the room.
" Call in some more men to guard around the estate and inform the security team to change each and every codes immediately, only family members must know, and no one get in or out without my permission. We have to be on our best guard. Your don and I are counting on your service. "
Everybody nodded and bowed their heads in my direction before leaving.
I then headed to the emergency room where Seth was with Victoria and Brandon. Noel and Dean were also walking closely behind us.
" Only family members should be here. Except for Dean and Noel of course. " I barked as we reached the gate into the family underground hospital.
" Those who aren't a Salvatore please leave. " I continued glancing sideways at Kaitlyn.
She looked shock at first and was about to protest but interrupted as I shut the door gate in her face.
" You go sis. " Victoria chuckled at my action no longer sobbing.
We waited for hours outside the room but still no sign nor news from the doctors. I haven't slept all night and was slowly getting more and more tired.
" Go and take a nap, Alana. I will inform you if anything changes. " Brandon said patting my back.
" No. I can't leave him. " I protested.
" Alana, go. You look horrible, so pale, you look like you are about to faint any second now. We don't want another one in that room now, do we? " Victoria said smiling.
" But-
" No but. All of you go. " the voice of the mighty Gianna Salvatore boomed through the hall.
" Mom? You're back. " I said before rushing in for a hug which she gladly returned. I really needed this right now.
" Steven and Sebastian are here too. We took off immediately after we heard the news. " she said patting my back.
" Go get some rest, will you? Seth wouldn't like it if you become sick because of him. "
" And, he will have our heads for letting you stay. " Sebastian joined in.
" Wake me up as soon as the doctor come out? " I pleaded.
" I promise. " Gianna smiled assuring me.
With that I walked away from the cold hallway and into the room he and I shared.

Stairway to Heaven
Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings, far too weak to survive amid the other extraterrestrials that lie dormant across the galaxies. Instead of physical altercations, they would rather engage in verbal abuse, breaking an individual's psyche as a hobby. Beyond their questionable nature and moral compasses, they long to find meaning in their lives and put names to the feelings that drive each passing moment. They are insatiable—far too greedy for more knowledge and a supposed understanding of their lives. It's pitiable, really, the way they struggle to find themselves while ravaging their kind through petty wars and conflicts built off of misunderstanding. Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings. They created words and languages to fill the holes that lived inside their souls, desperate for ways to find meaning in their incredibly short lifespans. They'll waste their entire lives trying to find their so-called passions and reasons for living, acting as if they truly rule the way their lives go, supposed "controllers of their own destiny." Yet, they cannot evade the inevitable visit from death, who stands next to them, ticking the seconds down until their demise.
