《Madam Mafia》epilogue

"Dad!!!" My little boy comes running at me as I enter the house.
I smile and scoop the 4 year old up, spinning him in circles. He squeals, laughing.
"I cawught you!" My 2 year daughter screams as she wraps her tiny arms around my calf. I freeze, throwing her brother over my left shoulder and slowly looking down at her.
She beams up at me with her mother's chocolate brown eyes and my stubby chin. Her brother climbs up my neck, placing his legs on either side of my head, and taking two handfuls of my hair.
He knows exactly what to do now, huh? He's getting too smart.
"I'm gonna catch you." I bellow, as Olivia, scrambles away from my leg and her and her brother, Adam, scream, giggling as I begin chasing her.
"She went left Dad!" Adam points, pulling my hair right, the opposite direction.
Olivia leads us to the kitchen, where Rose stands flipping over a piece of meat. Her head snaps to us running at her, and she graces me her smile which slowly turns into a smirk.
My heart swells, as a spark goes through me and butterflies fill my stomach like they always do, whenever I see her.
"Mommy! Save me!" Olivia runs right into her mother's legs and is snatched up, put where her brother is, on her mother's shoulders.
"Steak night?" I ask.
"Yeah, I haven't had a good piece of meat in a while."
I scoff.
"I beg to differ." I say, shooting her my own smirk as she rolls her eyes at me.
"Not around the-"
"Mommy, we have to rwun!" Olivia pulls at her mother's hair, cutting Rose off.
"Remember you can't pull Mommy's hair, that's not nice." Rose scolds, and Olivia's face instantly falls as she loosens her grip on her mother's locks.

"Sorwy mommy."
"As long as you understand, hold on tight, Mommy's about to go to war!"
Olivia squeals and laughs loudly as Rose begins trying to tickle me and Adam. I go in for the kill as well, letting my fingers get to work.
"We're losing, dad. We gotta run." Adam shouts, mixed in with his chuckles.
I nod and take off to the living room, Rose and Olivia follow.
I hop on the couch, pulling Adam into my arms and cradling him as Rose catches up and attacks my sides. Olivia jumps from her shoulders and onto my leg, using her small finger to try and tickle her brother.
"We lose!" Adam shouts, crawling away from me. Rose picks him up and he puts his head in the crook of her neck, tired.
"Next time, partner up with Mommy, ok baby? Dad always loses." She flashes a grin at me and I shrug.
"Mmhh." He hums, drifting to sleep.
I watch as Rose softly rocks him and slowly turns, heading up to his room.
She was meant to be a mother the way she cares for everyone around her, and I'm lucky she fell in love with me.
I sit up, still watching Rose walk up the stairs, and Olivia crawls into my lap.
"Again! Again!" She pats my knees and I look down at her.
"Sorry, baby. It's bedtime." I scoop her up and take her upstairs as well.
"But I'm not sweepy." She comments as I place her in her crib.
"Try to sleep, ok?" She pouts, but puts her head on her pillow and closes her eyes.
"Goodnight babygirl." I whisper, slowly backing out the room.
She'll be out in a couple minutes, as usual.
Rose walks out Adam's room and sighs, shooting me a soft smile.

My own smile slowly appears on my face.
Life couldn't be better.
We plop down on the couch and relax.
"How were the runs?" I ask, as Ryder puts his head on my lap.
"As usual, the guys got it down. All our rival groups are too scared to touch on our deals. Business is smooth." He smiles up at me.
"You always say that, then when it's my turn to go in the next day, everything's a mess." I smack his forehead.
Ryder frowns and catches my hand before I can pull it away. He brings it to his lips and slightly breaths on my fingers.
"You're a perfectionist, babe. You find problems, where they don't exist." He kisses my palm.
"That's what keeps us on top."
"That's why you're the boss." Ryder smirks against my hand and reaches his other hand behind my head to pull me down on to his lips.
His lips press against mine and I cant help the twinge that travels through me. It's been 8 years since I fell in love with this idiot, and yet he still gives me tingles.
I guess that's our kind of love.
I pull back and simply gaze into his eyes, as he does mine.
"Anything interesting with the guys?" I mention, smirking as I ruin the mood.
As much as I love my kids, I don't want to suffer through 9 months of being useless, so soon. It's only been 2 years since I had Olivia.
He blinks.
"Um, yeah. Ethan and Lily picked the date for their wedding finally. Oh and Lucas seems to have met some girl who he doesn't want to tell us about yet. All we know is that she's a church girl and she hates anything violence related."
I scoff.
"Ironic. Sounds kinda tragic. But when's the wedding?" I ask.
"We don't know, they said they'd tell us at the engagement party."
"They've waited long enough, it's been a month since he proposed." I remark.
"Just cause we got married 2 weeks after I proposed, doesn't mean they're taking their time. Most people wait years." Ryder reasons.
I shrug.
"I'm just saying, what about Caleb?"
Ryder narrows his eyes at me.
"He's thrown himself into managing the gang. He's not looking for anything or anyone." Ryder rolls his eyes.
"That's his choice." I nod to myself.
"Stop caring about him, you're making me jealous."
"I feel bad for him, he's grown so much, but all alone."
Ryder sits up.
"I'll ask him for the 1000th time if he wants me to set him up, better?"
I nod.
Ryder turns around and throws his arms around me.
"I love you." He whispers.
"I love you." I whisper back.
"Let me just stay in your arms for a bit."
"Always."
This is our life and it's always a journey with the kids and of course, Ryder.
I couldn't imagine what I'd do without him. He's my only one.
And I'm glad he found me and never let me go.

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
