《Boss and his Babygirl》Chapter 33: Not yours

My heart was racing seeing her standing there behind a desk. She looked even more beautiful than she did 2 whole years ago. I didn't think that was possible, but somehow she did. Her hair was longer and a darker tone than before. She had lost some weight which made me frown as she didn't need to lose anything. She was perfect the way she was. But that didn't stop me from seeing her eyes water. I never expected to see her here, especially in a situation like this.
I took a few more steps towards her cautiously, not wanting her to disappear from my sight, but one more step seemed to set her off and she ran off to the room behind her.
"Rosie wait" I yelled out to her but the door had shut. I needed to talk to her, I needed to touch her one last time to make me believe that she truly was standing before me.
I knocked on the door gently not wanting to cause a scene, but there was no response.
"Rosie. We need to talk". I twisted the door handle and pushed it open. Rosie was sat at a desk crying her eyes out. The same sounds I had heard 2 years ago that made my heart ache just as painfully. I couldn't blame her for crying. I had truly hurt her and she never thought, I never thought I'd see her again.
"Sir, you are not allowed in here". A doctor walked over to me and ushered me out of the room, but there was no way in hell I was letting Rosie slip from my fingers just like that.
"No, I need to speak with Rosie".
"Go away". Her voice was quiet and muffled as she wiped away her tears with her cardigan sleeve. She looked broken, devastated and hurt. But I needed only a minute with her to explain myself.
"Miss Faye does not wish to speak with you, now leave or I will call security. Please head over to your wife's room and let Miss Faye get on with her job".
"My what?" Rosie suddenly looked up from the desk, her face full of anger but then softened as if she was deep in thought.
"Please, I just need a minute with you Rosie. That's all I ask". Rosie looked up at the doctor with a hopeful look. The doctor stared back at her and then glanced down at his watch.
"5 minutes and then Rosie has to get back to work".
"That's all I need". Not wasting a single second, I grabbed Rosie by the upper arm and pulled her out of the room and down the busy hall. Rosie didn't say a word as I glanced back at her. She simply looked at me with watering eyes shaking her head as her gaze fell to the floor.
Thankfully we were soon out of the chaotic ward and standing alone in the quiet hallway.
"You shouldn't be talking to me. You should be with the mother of your baby". Her voice was quiet and cold as she stared at the floor unwilling to lift her eyes up to meet mine. I bit my lip harshly realising what she was thinking. She got it all wrong and it must have broken her with those thoughts.
"You shouldn't be jumping to conclusions Rosie".
"Oh really? Then tell me what I should be thinking when I see you with a heavily pregnant woman. It's been 2 years and you've moved on what else is there to say". Her cheeks always flushed when she became frustrated.

"You're so adorable when you get the wrong end of the stick". My words only seemed to agitate her even more as she shoved me back harshly.
"Seriously Dean. Why are you here?". My heart ached seeing the tears trail down her smooth slightly sunken cheek before dropping off her defined jawline.
"Sweetheart, I don't know who the lady is. I was out getting some food when she started screaming. She told me her husband was on a flight back and she had no way of getting to the hospital in time. I was too scared to leave her until she was in complete care. I do not know her nor am I with anyone else".
Rosie's eyes widened and stared straight down at the floor. I understood why she would think that lady was with me and was carrying our baby. In her eyes she saw it as me moving on, but what she didn't know was that I thought about her every single day. No matter how hard I tried to move on, I simply couldn't.
"Well, I, um". Rosie's cheeks began to redden trying to piece together something to say, but before she could I held my finger to her lips and shook my head.
"Rosie, you don't need to apologise. I can understand it must've looked bad".
Rosie suddenly straightened herself up and neatened her outfit.
"Oh, I er don't care if you moved on or not".
Not convinced one bit.
"You're going to have to sound more convincing than that baby". I went to wrap my arms around her waist relieved that this situation had been cleared up, but to my disbelief Rosie backed away from my arms.
"What? What's wrong?". Her eyes began to well up again shaking her head before mumbling incoherent words to herself.
"No Dean. You can't act like this after not seeing me for two years. You can't act all sweet and dumb. You said horrible things to me and made me believe I was responsible for Lucy's death. For a time I really believed I was responsible and I almost lost myself over it, but over time I realised that actually I was the innocent one. You can't come back to me expecting me not to be mad over the way you left me. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go". Her words hurt. I knew that if I was to ever see her again then it would be rocky, but I wasn't expecting to find Rosie so cold and fierce. But in a way I was proud of her. Normally most people would crumble and struggle to continue with their lives after what someone like Rosie endured. But from what I could see it made her stronger.
Rosie went to walk past me, but I grabbed her by her upper arm and pulled her back into my chest.
"Get off me" she hissed whilst glaring at me.
"Not until you listen to me. I never thought I'd see you again and now that I've found you I'm not going to leave you until you listen to everything I have to say. There's so much I need to tell you. Things I wanted to say from the moment I lashed out at you. Please, can I take you out for dinner tonight and I'll tell you everything. And if after then you still want nothing to do with me then, I, I'll vanish and leave you alone forever. I promise". It took every ounce in my body to say the last part, but I couldn't force her to be by my side as much as I wanted to. I at least needed closure after all the things I said to her.

Rosie's lips suddenly turned up into smirk and I watched mesmerised as she placed her hands on her hips.
"That's cute and all but I actually have a date tonight" she smiled, but I could see something in her eyes.
She's lying.
Instinctively my grip on her hips tightened as she mentioned the word date. She was going out with a guy that wasn't me. That made my heart sting painfully, but I refused to show it. My jaw clenched tightly restraining the possessive growl that threatened to come out.
"A date huh? And who is this date with? Sounds pretty convenient that you happened to have a date the same night that I just asked you to go out for dinner". Rosie shrugged her shoulders and tilted her head at me, but then her eyes moved away from mine and followed the sound of pair of footsteps down the hallway.
"Oh hey Rosie". My eyes stayed glued on Rosie's who's face had now paled and greeted the masculine voice from behind me.
"Oh, who are you?". I smirked at Rosie who was already glaring at me. She knew me well and knew what I was going to get up to.
I spun around to face the man with a tight grip on Rosie's waist.
"Oh hello there, I'm Rosie's boyfriend. You are?". My protective instincts were wanting to shield my girl away from this man who's eyes were roaming over Rosie's body.
"Ouch". Rosie dug her rather sharp nails into my side making me pull away from her and rub the side she pretty much just stabbed.
"Ignore him, he's nobody". She wormed herself out of my grip and walked towards the man who I could only presume from a glance was a doctor. Her tone held no room for playfulness or jokes, she was serious. I hurt her bad. I had to do everything I could to even get her to listen to me.
"Okay, so I was just reminding you about tomorrow. You still up for our date?". My fists clenched tightly imaging them wrapped around the man's throat watching the life leave his eyes.
"Of course! I cannot wait" she smiled, but her eyes never looking back into mine. She had been caught out.
"Great, I'll see you tomorrow". The man gave me one last suspicious glance before waving to Rosie and heading into the same ward we had come out of.
"So you were serious when you said you had a date, but lied about it being tonight" I winked at her loving her shy gaze.
"I actually have another date tonight with a different man. I realised my worth and am not putting all my eggs in one basket" she looked back up at me with false confidence.
"Right. Sure" I chuckled as she crossed her arms across her chest.
"Yes. Don't get it into your head that I spent 2 whole years thinking about you, because I didn't. I moved on from you".
She is the world's worst liar.
"Babygirl, you need to work on your lying skills because I can see right through them. Your heart has always belonged to me and it still does".
"I don't belong to anyone, especially you". She frowned and attempted to glare at me, but I could see the emotional turmoil and I could see this facade breaking down before me.
"Bullshit. That's why you cried. You cried because you thought I had moved on. Rosie, every single day I thought about you. I wondered what you were doing, how you were doing. Jesus, I wanted to move on. But no one compared to you. You're like a drug Rosie. No matter how many girls tried to get with me, I simply couldn't. My heart has always belonged to you and it always will. I love you Rosie and I don't care how long it takes to prove that to you but I want you to know how much I bloody missed you".
Before Rosie could respond I lent forward and planted my lips on hers softly. Our lips moulded perfectly just like the first time we had kissed. My god I had missed those delicious red lips of hers and the taste of her made my heart skip a beat. I had dreamt of kissing her one last time, but this did not compare. I don't believe in heaven, but if I did then I would imagine it would be this very moment in time. Placing my hand on her cheek I moved my lips against hers gently, her mouth responding to mine in the same passionate heat. I couldn't care less that we were making out in a hospital hallway, for the taste of her lips made me forget all my troubles and eased the pain in my heart. I didn't ever want to stop kissing her, but to my disbelief Rosie pulled away slowly.
She looked hot and flustered, messy hair and reddened cheeks. She neatened her hair down and stepped away from the wall.
"What you said was lovely, but I'm still going on the date tonight. In fact, I'm going to skip the date and f-fuck him in the toilet" she smirked at me as she blew a strand of hair from out of her face.
Hating the idea of her having sex with another man, I gripped her by her cheeks and glared at her only to be greeted by a dirty smirk from her. But at the mention of sex, Rosie's cheeks began to turn red and instantly looked to the floor in embarrassment.
"Are you now? You want that do you?" I whispered into her ear laughing as she began to squirm out of my arms.
I watched as she shakily tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked to the floor.
"Goodbye Dean" she muttered quietly before rushing away.
"You know, he looks quite stuck up". I yelled out to her hoping to sway her off her date.
Rosie shook her head and flipped me off before stepping back into the ward and letting the door shut behind her.
Playing hard to get. Game on then Rosie.
