《Boss and his Babygirl》Chapter 4: Goodbye

I observed her subtly from the corner of my eye as she ate the rest of her breakfast quietly. She didn't seem to be fazed by the silent atmosphere, which was somehow refreshing. I was constantly surrounded by people who felt the need to fill the silence with unnecessary conversations, so this was a pleasant changed.

I had to keep myself from gawking at her. She looked adorable in my clothes which were way too big for her but made her look tiny. I had to retain a smile as she stuffed a huge chunk of pancake in her mouth and smiled at the sweet taste.

"Your sister seems sweet" she blurted our unexpectedly. I hadn't felt so comfortable with a person as quickly as I had with Rosie. It felt strange at how natural it all seemed.

"She is, but she can also be a pain in the ass once you get to know her". She laughed quietly making my heart race. She had the sweet infectious kind of laugh that could light up a room.

What the hell is wrong with me.

Suddenly a buzzing sensation rippled through my jacket pocket making me jump slightly. Curtly apologising to Rosie I picked up my phone and switched the screen on.

Boss I need to speak with you urgently. Come to the office ASAP.

My eyebrows scrunched together seeing the text from Jackson. The men and I weren't due to meet at the office for another 3 hours. But I could tell from that text that something was wrong. Jackson was notorious for arriving late, but this was so out of character.

"I'm going to have to cut things short. I'm required at the office as soon as possible so would you be able to get ready to leave within 10 minutes?"

Rosie stared down at her food and pouted slightly, but she failed to notice I was watching her intently. She stared back up at me and nodded sharply.

I watched as she excused herself and thanked me for the breakfast.

God she's so precious.

I pulled my phone back out from my pocket and instantly replied back to Jackson telling him that I would be there in no later 30 minutes. But I completely forgot that I was taking Rosie home. I didn't even know where she lived. She might not live nearby.

Slipping my phone back in my pocket I grabbed all the plates off the table and carried them over to the sink. Rolling my sleeves up I began to clean away at the dishes whilst staring out the kitchen window and began to think about recent events.

What would've happened if I had kept driving by and not stopped to intervene. What if she truthfully did not want to be saved. What will happen once I take her home. Will she try again to kill herself. She is a complete stranger to me, yet a part of me wishes to find out more about this mysterious girl who I found alone and helpless.

Anyway, I'd drop her home and never see her again. And once she's gone I can get my head down on focus on my work.

"I'm ready".

A small female voice sounded from behind me.

Damn, that was quick.

I placed the washed up plate on the drying rack and spun around to face Rosie. But as soon as my eyes fell upon her my heart began to race faster than I thought possible.

I didn't see her outfit before as it was dark, but this outfit complemented her small frame perfectly. Her high waisted jeans accentuated her slim waist and showed off her mouth watering hour glass figure. She was wearing a baggy T-shirt but had tucked some of it in her trousers. Her beautiful chocolate brown hair cascaded down her back and let some of it flow over her shoulders.

Fucking hell woman

"Cool, let's head out".

"So here we are". I pulled up alongside a small block of nice looking flats and stopped the car to a halt. It took longer than expected to get to her place than anticipated as she was awful at giving directions, but I honestly didn't really mind.

She grabbed her bag and unbuckled her seatbelt before turning to face me.

"Thank you Dean. For everything". She smiled shyly at me before staring straight out the front window.

"It's not a problem Rosie. Will you be okay now?" I stared at her intensely unsure of her answer, but she nodded and smiled.

"Yes, I'll be fine. Thank you". I watched as she stared at my lips before looking into my eyes. She smiled once more at me before grasping the handle of the door, pulling it and pushing the door open.

Flinging her bag over her shoulder she turned around to face the car and waved goodbye silently before heading off to her home.

I hope you'll be okay sweetheart.

Pressing down on the accelerator I drove away from Rosie and speeded off to my office which luckily was only a 10 minute drive away.

A 10 minute drive which ended up being a 5 minute drive went by and soon enough I was walking out of the elevator and straight into my office. Pushing the door open I looked up to see Jackson standing by the large window overlooking the city of London with a face full of fear and panic.

"Boss!"

"Jackson, what is so urgent? I'll admit you have me quite anxious". I walked over to my office chair and sat down opening my laptop as Jackson sat in the chair opposite from me.

"Boss, I received a message from an unknown number tipping us off that Lucy is being followed".

My heart began to thump profusely in my chest hearing Jackson's urgent news. Someone knew. Someone knew Lucy was my weakness. Someone was after my baby sister.

"Get every damn man at this office now. Get cars loaded. We're going to get Lucy".

I watched as Dean pulled away and speeded off down the lonely quiet street. I waved him off once more before entering my flat and locking it behind me. I threw my bag down on the floor and sat down leaning against the door.

I'm back in this same situation all over again. Feeling alone and helpless and knowing full well my home, my last possession would be taken away from me within a month. But being with Dean made me feel whole. I felt happy and at ease. He made me briefly forget about my harsh life and inner pain. But he was gone now.

Grabbing my bag from beside me I opened it up at began to rummage through the contents inside. Being with Dean made me feel happy, but I knew I wouldn't see him again, so I thought I'd take a piece of him with me.

Not creepy at all.

I pulled out the large red hoodie that he put on me last night and threw it back on me. It still smelt like him. So manly and strong and it was so damn comfortable.

He'll never know.
