《Undeniably Claimed》Chapter 60: Resolution

Luca couldn't help but smile as he look down at the woman in his arms. Her smile illuminating the study where he escaped for a moment with her. How the fuck he got so incredibly lucky, he would never know. All those times before where he thought he was in love were pitiful to how he felt at this moment. Her words hitting him hard as he recalls her vows. She was just as much invested in him as he was to her. She wants it all and she wants it with him. He could have kissed her then but resisted with all the strength he had to give the speech he had planned for over a month. Seeing her tears of happiness making it all worth it.
Hearing a knock on the door to the study makes him pull his gaze to the door. Cami's head popping in just slightly. "We are ready for you Mr. and Mrs. Sanford."
They chuckle as they turn back to each other before kissing once again. It seems he couldn't stop himself. Her lips an addiction he knew he would never get tired of. They pulled apart and walked arm in arm back out of the home. The crowd clapping as they stepped into the tent that was set up on the beach for the evening. Luca couldn't believe how much his mother did for this wedding. It was simply stunning.
They walked to the middle of the dance floor where he secured his tesoro in his arms as the music began to play. He leaned down placing his forehead to hers. As her fingers weaved through his hair gently brushing it as she always loved to do. His eyes closing as they fell into the sweet words while they swayed and turned. Luca couldn't imagine this moment any better if he tried. Yes, he had hoped for one more person but as Sophia has told him before, he is still here. So with that, he believes her and believes that Nicholas is watching from above.
The song came to an end drawling them out of the bubble they had created. Clapping resounded around the room as people began coming up to them. Luca was first gathered in the arms of his mother followed by his father. His eyes glancing to find Sophia taking a little Destiny into her arms kissing her gently. The sight making him loose all focus on anything else. He could only hope she would want children and very soon if he had anything to say about it.
"Brother you did good."
He turns his attention back to find his baby sister standing there already looking over at Sophia before turning back to him. "She is wonderful and I am so happy... for both of you."
"Thank you sister." He leans forward wrapping his arms around her hugging her to his torso. The little Sanford holding him equally as tight.
"Hey, he's my brother too!" Junior whines earning a smack on the head from his twin.
"They were having a moment!" CJ scolds him.
Luca and Cassidy pull away from each other giggling before he opens his free arm and both the twins come forward making a group hug for all four of them. Luca glances around catching his mother and father's eyes who look like they are going to cry. Both watching as all their children are gathered together with smiles on their lips. It was the most perfect moment for any parent to experience. He turns his head back just in time to find Sophia walking over to him. He extracts himself from the sibling hug and wraps her up in his arms before pecking her lips.

The announcer request everyone take their seats so the food may be passed out. A table is set up in the front for them and their wedding party. They all take their seats as the food is served. Many toasts are given with more tears of happiness and some embarrassing moments shared. As everyone begins to get up to dance, the tent opens and a tall man in a fine suit walks in. Luca looks to him with furrowed brows but he just stands near the back looking at his wife. He squeezes her hand making her turn to him.
"Tesoro, do you know that man?" He asks nodding his head towards the entrance.
Sophia turns her attention to where he is looking and a gasp escapes her, "That's my boss!"
Luca nods as Sophia stands pulling him up as well. She leans down to say something to Jessica who nods before they make their way to the man himself. He smiles adoringly at Sophia. Luca releases her hand as she steps forward to hug him. The man seems to be in his late forties, early fifties. He looked at her like a proud father as he released her. She found her way back into Luca's side.
"Luca, this is my boss and friend, Edward Fensenthal. Eddie, this is my husband and love of my life, Luca Sanford."
Edward reaches out a hand that Luca takes shaking it. "I have heard much about you Mr. Sanford, all good things."
"Same to you Mr. Felsenthal. Sophia cares a great deal about you and your company."
"We care equally as much about her." He says looking to her with a smile. A moment of silence passes before he continues, "I have what you asked. Are you ready?"
Luca looks down to Sophia in confusion as she nods her head looking up to him. She takes his hand and turns back to her boss. The man leads them out of the tent. Luca follows Sophia's lead in utter confusion as they are led back into the house. He notices Jessica walking with Cami, Theo and his parents. He turns his attention to Sophia.
"Love, what is going on?" He whispers gently.
She smiles at him before looking forward, "I have a surprise for you."
She doesn't say anything further as he continues walking with furrowed brows. His parents and Cami & Theo are now following behind them. No one says anything as they are led to the front sitting room of the house. Her boss stopping at the entrance. Sophia thanks him as they turn into the room.
Sitting in the room, is a couple that upon hearing foot steps stands up turning to them. Sophia walks over still hand in hand with Luca who is unsure as to who these people are. It seemed to be a couple in their late thirties. What stands out to Luca, is the man's attire. He was wearing a uniform that seemed all too familiar. Luca's heart began beating frantically in his chest. The man held out his hand towards him. Luca took it with his slightly trembling. Sophia stepped forward clearing her throat as she turned to the family and Luca.
"Everyone this is Sergeant Jake Locklin and his wife, Noelle Locklin."
The couple wave gently at all the faces that still seem confused. Srgt. Locklin steps forward slightly looking directly at Luca. "You are Luca, right?"
He nods his head, "Yes, I'm sorry I can't recall meeting you."

The man waves him off, "It's alright. We haven't met before. I- uhm.." he hesitates turning to his wife who nods her head in reassurance before he looks back at him. "I was a part of your uncle's team."
Cami gasp capturing most of their attentions. Luca couldn't seem to tear his eyes away from the man in front of him though. His body frozen replaying his words like a broken record. The man smiled tightly before he winced. Sophia stepped forward ushering them to sit down. It is then that Luca noticed him rubbing his thigh on his left leg. He doesn't even notice when Sophia helps him sit down in a chair before sitting on the arm rest. Everyone finding a place to sit before the man continues.
"I wanted to visit sooner but was unable to." He says chuckling humorlessly while his wife rubs his arm.
"Jake had a lot of rehabilitation after the incident." His wife says softly not wanting to upset anyone.
Luca however locks eyes with the man who seemed to be studying him quizzically. "I'm so sorry if I stare but you have grown up so much from the photos I remember seeing."
Sophia wraps her arm around his shoulder leaning against him but he can't seem to process all of this. "What photos?"
"Your uncle carried photos of you along with his sister, Cami-" he says pointing to Cami. The woman has tears running down her cheeks while she is wrapped in the arms of her husband. Jake turns his attention back to Luca. "I heard a great deal about you through out the years, you meant the world to him."
Luca drops his gaze to his laps feeling the tears swell his eyes.
"I want you to know that I would not be sitting here on this couch if it wasn't for the brave actions he took to rescue not only me but 3 other men. He is a hero and will forever remain my savior."
Luca lifts his tear filled gaze to Jake who looks to him with his own solemn expression. "It isn't fair what happened that day. Nicholas should have made it home, and I wish to fucking god that I could change it.. I would have taken the spot if our places could have been reversed."
"What happened?" Cami's hoarse brakes through as she continues to cry. Her voice holding a desperate plea.
The Sergeant looks to her before looking down to his lap as his mind takes him back to a distant memory. The room going silent as they wait to hear the final moments of a dear member of their family.
"It was routine scout mission... or at least it was supposed to be. We arrived at the small village when something felt off. We could all feel it but we had our orders. It only took a few minutes before we heard the familiar whistle before the bombs began landing everywhere. I got hit and was thrown. I remember Nicholas running to me and throwing my arm over his shoulder so he could haul me up. All I felt was immense pain down my leg."
His hand had unconsciously began rubbing the tender part once again as he continued.
"We had all taken shelter in this rickety ass shack. We could see rebels beginning to flood into the small village. Nicholas grabbed at my vest making me focus on him. He told me 'Be a good dad to your boy!' and then he ordered a private to carry me to the back as Nicholas began raining fire on everything. I yelled, I screamed for the private to get him but they didn't listen. The last sight I had of Nicholas was him looking directly in the eye. He had a grenade in his hand ready to pull the pin out... He gave me a firm head nod as if reassuring me. I yelled as the door to the hut while we made our way as fast as we could...."
He drops his head shaking it side to side as his leg began to bounce. The room falling silent as all could feel the moment. His voice coming out hoarse, "The ground shook as the grenade went off. That son of bitch took out the mass of them so we could live."
He brought his tear filled eyes up to meet Luca's. "He told me to be their for my son." He chuckled incredulously, "It's crazy now because Noelle wasn't even pregnant!"
Luca glanced to Noelle who had a hand to her very small stomach. Sophia speaks up, "You're expecting Noelle?"
The woman nods her head with a gentle smile. "It seems like a miracle, but yes. We are expecting a boy." Her eyes turning to her husband before falling on Luca then Cami. "He is to be named Nicholas."
Cami crumbles and sobs before leaving her husband walking over to the woman. She stands taking the crying woman into her arms. A few minutes pass before she calms down. Noelle sits back down by her husband.
"We actually had a specific reason for coming today." Noelle says turning to her husband.
The Sergeant rubs his face free of the tears before leaning back taking something out of his pocket, a disc of some sort. He leans over the table holding it to Sophia. She takes it standing up and walking over to the entertainment center. All turn to the television as she starts it up. Luca looking on already holding his breath.
The blue screen comes on showing Jake smiling into a hand held camera. He seems to be walking around the base somewhere in the desert. He continues to talk to all the men asking them question but then a face comes on that makes Luca tear up again. There was Nicholas smiling up at the camera. He looked happy and healthy. Jake's voice begins to play as he continues filming Nick.
"Alright Captain-"
"I'm not a damn Captain Jake!" Nicholas scolds lightly.
"Disregarding that- What is it you are most thankful for?? Is it this hot ass desert or maybe the incredibly dry weather we are experiencing?!"
Both men chuckle in the camera and the sound is music to Luca. "Nah man, my family is what I am thankful for."
"Awww... I knew you loved us!" Jake says leaning onto his uncle's shoulder dramatically.
Nicholas rolls his eyes playfully. "No my boy, Luca and my sister, Cami... they are my life man."
"I didn't know you had a son?" Jake's voice becoming more serious in the video.
"He may not be by blood but I sure as hell would claim him. He is mine through and through."
The camera goes quiet for a moment and just focuses on Nicholas' expression seeming deep in thought as a soft smile tilts his lips. Luca himself smiled looking down at his lap for a moment thinking about this man.
"Well all the more reason for us to get the fuck out here!"
Once again both men laugh as Jake throws his arm around Nicholas as both men throw up peace signs at the camera. The television goes black as it ends. Luca sits there for an additional moment before turning back to Srgnt Locklin. Luca surprises everyone as he stands walking over to the man. Jake's eyes red with his own tears. Luca holds out his hand to him helping him up.
Face to face with the man, Luca finally smiles at him.
"Thank you Sergeant for making it home.."
Sophia was right, he did what he did to protect not only him but the men over there as well... But he will forever be with them.
