Luca sat at his desk long after the workday had ended. His mind continuing to spiral down a dark path trying to comprehend what he had stumbled onto. His fingers continuing to tap the sealed envelope in his hand onto the desk. The remains of the folder now sprawled out across his desk. He had released Taylor about an hour ago to go home. The place he should be heading as well but doesn't know how to come face to face with the person causing his current predicament.

Feeling his phone vibrate once again, he looks down at the caller ID to find Sophia's name lighting up his phone. He watches his phone continue to light up for another 15 seconds or so before the call goes to voicemail. This was her third time attempting to call now. He leaned back in his chair looking to the ceiling as his mind continued to reel around the new information he found out. Pinching of the bridge of his nose, he sighs heavily as his office phone rings. Without thinking about it, he reaches to answer it

"Sanford"

"Luca, is everything okay?" He closes his eyes tight hearing her sweet voice through the phone.

"Yea.. I uh-" he clears his throat sitting up in his seat. "I am just finishing up some paperwork. Don't worry Sophia."

She is silent for a moment before her voice comes back more timid. "Have you eaten dinner?"

"You don't need to worry about me Sophia. I'll be home later. I got to go." He hesitates for a moment but hangs up without saying anything further.

His mood becoming even more foul with how much of an ass he is being to her. He just didn't know how to feel. His hand going to lift the will again seeing her name in bold italics across the top. He was mad, and hurt that she made these forms. Another part of him understood that she was protecting herself and her family but it was silenced by his irritation. He goes to walk over to the bar getting a shot of his father's favorite bourbon before throwing it back. The amber liquor burning on it's way down.

He went and sat down at his desk again deciding to gather the documents back into the file. With a deep breath, he places the folder including the sealed envelope back into his briefcase. He glances at his uncle's unopen letter but his gut turns uncomfortably making him walk away without taking another glance at it. He gets into his elevator trying to think straight but his mind is to far gone. The drive to his home seeming to fly by in a blur.

Arriving at his door, his hand hesitates to go into his home. Not ready to confront what lies on the other side. Straightening his shoulders, he opens the door finding the house dark other than a lamp in the living room next to Sophia who is sitting with a book in her hands. He closes the door and walks to her making her look up to him with those emerald jewels that enrapture him.

He closes his eyes sitting down with a fair amount of distance between them. The motion not going unnoticed by Sophia who looks confused and slightly hurt by his actions. He sits their for a moment leaning forward with his hands intertwined and elbows resting on his knees. Finding a bit of strength, he turns to her who is already looking at him.

"Sophia, we need to talk."

She sets the book to the side pulling herself forward so her body rest on the edge of the chair looking to him. Her eyes holding a mixture of emotions including confusion, hurt, and fear. He turns his attention to his briefcase putting it onto the coffee table and opening it. He takes out the folder before handing it to her. She takes it with furrowed brows looking at him for answers but he doesn't and just leans back watching her carefully.

Sophia opens the folder and after only a moment, her eyes widen in shock before she closes it looking at him. Her eyes no longer holding the emotions they previously had but now only holding one... anger.

"Luca, where did you get this?"

"From Mark's office." He had no reason to lie to her. He hasn't done thus far and wouldn't start now. She locked her jaw momentarily as she studied him.

"You read it." It wasn't a question but a statement. With his silence she nodded her head puckering her lips in displeasure knowing the answer. After a moment of watching her, he could see her eyes snap back to him. Her voice coming out soft but with strong emotions. "Why?"

He continued studying her as he was sure, she was doing to him. He took the file from her hand opening it back up right in front of her. His hands grabbing the page that turned his stomach into knots. He placed it on the coffee table facing her and slid it to her.

"How could have signed a DNR form Sophia?" His voice full of anger seeping through the words. He stood up and stepped around the coffee table before beginning to pace. Sophia didn't answer him making his anger heighten. "Do you have ANY idea, what that would have done to me?!"

Sophia stands up slowly with her hands fisted at her sides. Her eyes now glazed over as her tears begin to swell up just dying to roll down her cheeks. She however refuses to let any drop. She raises her chin in defiance. "Why... did you read it?"

He throws his hands up turning back to her like it was the stupidest question in the world. "BECAUSE THE WOMAN I LOVE SIGNED HER OWN DEATH CERTIFICATE."

She chuckled but it wasn't a humorous one. She opened the folder picking up another form he recognized. She walked to him shoving it into his chest. Her tears now beginning to leak as she holds onto her anger. "Did you happen to read who I assigned as my POA?"

"Yes, you assigned me." He said taking the form from his chest keeping his eyes locked on he glistening ones. "That's even worse! You would have had me pull the damn trigger!"

She scoffed at him wiping at her tears roughly. "I chose the person who I believed knew me best to handle things IF-" She raises a finger emphasizing the word 'if'. "I didn't make it."

She steps away from him heading towards the stairs as she turns back around once more to him. Her red eyes locking onto his.

"Maybe you should read the letter I wrote to you. It's not like you had any problem reading everything else."

He stands their gritting his teeth before cursing under his breath. His fingers running roughly through his hair. He needed to cool off because he knew if he followed her right now, he would say something he didn't mean. His feet taking him to the kitchen to grab a drink from the fridge. He slams the door shut before twisting off the cap of the beer and taking a big gulp.

He was hurt that she had made the decision that if she was to flatline, that they would not take the necessary steps to save her. How could she be so careless? Did she not think about him, or Jessica... Hell even Destiny! He tosses back the rest of the bottle before turning to his sink gripping the marble in his hands. He gets mad and tosses the bottle as the glass shatters flying everywhere. His breathing heavy as he just looks at the shattered remains lying all around.

Fuck it!

He goes back to the living room picking up the envelope with his name on the front of it. He goes to rip it open but hesitates. His hand continues to hold the envelope ready to rip it but he can't do it. He drops the envelope back on the coffee table flopping down onto the couch as he looks at it, the same way he had most of the afternoon. It was just mocking him at this point. He rubs his hands down his face getting frustrated with everything.

After some time, he finds himself still feeling lost but the only person who can help settle his mind is currently upset as well. He wasn't truly mad that she took the precaution but it just hurt to see it for himself. He had so many questions for her but he came in guns blazing rather than trying to talk with her civilly. He allowed his emotions to rule how the situation occurred and he knew he shouldn't have.

He looked to the stairwell wondering if he should attempt to talk with her. Looking at his watch, he realized he has been sitting down here for about an hour now. He took a deep breath before standing up removing his tie and tossing it aside. He walked up the stairs going to their room. Opening the door, he found it empty. His instincts kicking in as he bolted out of the room to the spare room next door. Empty. He continued down the hall to another room. This was the room Theo stayed in when he was in the dog house. How fitting he would find her curled up on the bed with a throw blanket over.

His feet taking him over to sit down on the edge of the bed. Sophia was awake since he could hear the sniffles but she did not turn to him. He sat there for a moment trying to not make the situation worse, he started with what he knew he needed to say.

"I'm sorry tesoro." His words are low but he knew she could hear him. She made no move to speak to him so he continued. "I shouldn't have read through the folder."

"Did you read the letter?" Her voice raspy and he can tell she had been crying. He looked down to his hands feeling guilty.

"No.." this answer made her turn to look at him. Her face read with tear streaks from the previous crying left over. Her eyes looking at him trying to find any hint of a lie. He reached over placing his hand on her covered leg dropping his gaze momentarily. "I couldn't."

She continued looking at him but didn't say anything. He turned his attention to the door fearful of staring at her knowing he was the one causing her pain. He once again wrung his hands together.

"The letter was laying in Mark's office because his assistant made a mess or something. I reached for it and Mark had attempted to put it into the folder. I was curious so I took the folder while he was on the phone and left his office." His eyes coming back to her. "I opened the folder to get the envelope not aware of what I actually had... I couldn't help it Sophia."

She bit the inside of her cheek as he could see she was having an internal battle with herself. After a moment she sat up looking at him. She didn't say anything but was searching his eyes for something. She released a shaky breath before throwing the blanket off of her legs and standing up. Luca's eyes following her as she rounded the bed coming to stand in front of him. Her hand came out and he silently took her hand allowing her to pull him up. She lead him out of the room and through the home before they ended back in the living room. She gently pushed him down and took the seat directly beside him before reaching for the envelope that had his name on it. He was about to say something but she already ripped it open pulling out the letter within. Her eyes met his once more before she began to read it.

To the man I love,

If you are reading this, then my battle had come to an end and not in my verdict. I want you to know that I have no regrets, that I lived my life to the fullest and loved every minute of it. I got to travel the world doing something I loved and creating unforgettable memories. I am only sad that I couldn't have fulfilled my biggest adventure of all... A life with you.

You came to me like a hurricane and knocked me off my axel. I thought I had the most incredible life before but the time I had with you, showed me exactly what I was missing... Love. I can not even begin to tell you how much I loved you. I felt my heart accelerate with every look we shared, my stomach do flips just by a single touch. YOU were my saving grace and I feel so incredibly lucky that I got to spend the time I had with you. I wouldn't change it for anything. You were my most epic adventure of all... Thank you.

You have found out by this point that I had made you my Power of Attorney. I know this is not an easy thing to do but I trust you more than anyone now. I never thought I could get to that point where I would trust a man more than my sister... but you're not just any man.

I am so incredibly sorry that I didn't have enough in me to finish the fight. The mere thought of not being by your side terrifies me. I only hope my parents will be with me now as I continue to watch over you-

Not being able to hear anymore, Luca reaches for her hand holding the letter gently pulling it down. Sophia's eyes lock with his and he can see the raw pain within. His own tears welling up hearing all she had wrote to him. She placed her free hand on his as she looked deep into his soul.

"I never once wanted to leave you... but the idea of being a vegetable... A shell of myself and making my family wait for something that may never change-" she shook her head looking like she was pain. "I was not going to let yours and my families lives be put on hold for me."

He quickly cupped her cheeks as his own tears ran freely down his face.

"I would wait a lifetime if it meant having you in my arms once again." She closed her eyes leaning into his touch. He brought his forehead forward pressing it against hers. "I am sorry love but we have an epic adventure still to journey together."

She chuckled easing the tension making him do so as well. Her eyes locking with his.

"You are my saving grace Sophia Andrews, and I love you with everything I have."

"I love you too Luca."
