《Sweet Disaster》15| Ending

For the past couple of minutes, Reece has been trying to convince me to stay the night. And I've been saying I should go home. I also need to stop by the grocery store and buy some tampons and pads.

For a second, I had a scare, thinking I got fucking pregnant. But I'm not late for my period and I already have all the pre-period pains. Lower back, cramps, mood swings. So, I'm not pregnant. Not that I could be anyway because we used a condom every single time, we both made sure.

"Indigo!" He grabbed my wrist and pulled me down on top of him while he lay on the couch.

I huffed, looking down at him. "I have to go to the grocery store too, let me go. I'll see you tomorrow." I grunted, trying to push myself up but he held my wrists down to his chest with one hand and put his other arm around my waist.

"Indigo," he sang.

I lifted a single brow at him.

"Don't go," he whined.

"What are we going to do if I stay? We already had sex."

"We'll have sex again," he shrugged.

I narrowed my eyes on him. "Are you sure you're not just looking for excuses to make me stay?"

"Why would I be doing that?" His brows furrowed.

"Right, of course, you wouldn't be doing that. I have to go, I've got an errand to run."

"What?" He looked at me with suspicion.

"A pregnancy test," I said nonchalantly.

He blinked once, then twice. Then he fell into thought. "No," he said slowly. "We were safe every single time. I thought about it when you started having mood swings. Ha."

I snorted, putting my head down on his chest while laughing. "Let me go, Reece."

"No, why?" he whined, his hands moving down to my butt.

"Because I have something important to do."

"What? I'll take you."

I sighed, staring at his face. "And you thought I was clingy."

He worked his jaw and then flipped us over so I was underneath him. "You're not clingy with me, I said that too. It's gotta be one of us."

"What if I was clingy? Then?"

His eyes traveled across my face, lingering on my lips.

"Then you probably wouldn't want me, right?" I asked knowingly. It's just how a guy's brain works, isn't it? When they don't have something or when they can't have something, they want it so bad, they'll do anything to have it. And when they get it? They don't want it anymore. "Hmm? Answer me," I said softly.

"Right," he said slowly.

Then maybe that's what I should go. Be clingy. That way, he'll let me go. Because I don't know how much longer I can stay here with him. And not just tonight. I don't know how much longer I can do this. Because it's becoming more than just physical and when he acts like this, like he wants me to stay with him like he wants me around, that only makes things much, much worse.

"Stay tonight. We don't have any classes tomorrow."

"Reece."

"Indie."

My breath hitched in my throat.

He knows exactly what to do or say and when to say it. He chuckled, "I got you." He leaned down and kissed me, lying down on top of me completely.

I let out a puff of air when he pulled away to look at me. "I can't breathe," I scoffed.

He shrugged and started trailing kisses down my neck.

"Reece," I mumbled.

Then the doorbell rang. "Fuck's sake," he sighed under his breath before climbing off and answering the door.

I recognized his voice from here. "You and I need to fucking talk," he said.

"Landon—"

The door swung open completely and he barged right in.

I rolled my eyes and sat up, looking at him.

"Indie?"

I waved, smiling. "Hey, Landon."

"Wh... what are you doing here?" He looked between Reece and me in confusion. "Did you come looking for me?"

"No."

"Then why are you at my best friend's house?"

"We're not best friends," Reece groaned, falling into the seat beside me.

"Indie, what are you doing here?" he repeated.

"I came to see Reece."

"Why?" Landon frowned in confusion.

"Why did you go see Abigail on my birthday eve?"

"Abigail?"

I shook my head, "Don't act dumb. We both know what I'm talking about."

"Who told you?" he sighed, glaring at Reece.

"Not him. Chloe saw you with her at the diner. She called me immediately."

He scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Is that why you've been ignoring me?"

"That's just what I choose to do with a cheater. Opinions may vary."

He didn't know what to say for a few seconds. "Whatever. That's between you and me, we'll talk about it later. That doesn't explain why you're here with Reece."

"I don't have to explain anything to you. You just said it, they're two different things. What's going on here," I said, pointing between Reece and me. "Has nothing to do with you. So, I don't have to tell you. What I should tell you is that we're done." I felt Reece looked at me but I didn't dare to look back at him. I would laugh. Or blush. Or do something ridiculous of that sort.

"What?"

"We're done. You cheated on me, you just admitted it too. So, we're done. This is the end of our relationship."

"But... we were together for so long!"

I shook my head slowly. "Not really. It was just a few months. We didn't even hit the one-year mark. That would be classified as 'so long' not this."

"So, you're ending this relationship just because—"

"Am I ending this relationship just because you cheated on me and ditched me on my birthday? Yes."

He scoffed, throwing his arms up before they fell back down, hitting the sides of his thighs. "Indie."

"What?"

"You really want to end this?"

"Yes."

He huffed, dragging a hand down his face.

"And I didn't come to you earlier because I would undoubtedly have hit you. But I've had time to think about it now. So, I'm not going to lose my shit. All the best, good luck with life. Bye, bye."

He shook his head, not moving. "I want to know why you're here with him."

"We're just talking," Reece chuckled. "Chill."

"I know what talking leads to, I do it too, Reece. Are you screwing her?"

Reece rolled his eyes, turning to me. I kind of want to leave this to him just so I can see what he says. But he didn't look like he was going to admit it to Landon.

"Tell me, goddamn it!"

"I'm giving her what you couldn't, okay?" Reece said, standing up. "Does that answer your question? If it does, then great. Get out of my apartment. If it doesn't, too bad. But still, get out of my apartment. Now." Landon tried moving closer but Reece gave him a push. Not a hard one, just to sort of redirect him. "Get out. Whatever scene you want to create, do it later. Not now. Leave."

Landon huffed but listened and left nonetheless, slamming the door behind him.

Reece spun around, looking at me. "What a great ending to that relationship."

I stood up too. "Now I really have to get going."

"Ah, ah, ah." He walked over quickly, grabbing my waist and pushing me towards the couch.

"Reece," I whined.

"I told you, you'll stay tonight. And I figured out what you need to buy. Pads, tampons, isn't it? You said you'll get your period soon. I'll go buy it," he shrugged.

I blinked up at him, not knowing how to feel. I am attracted to him and at first, that was it. But now... now it could very well be much more.

"Text me the brand and details or whatever. I'll go buy them."

"Reece."

"Why do you keep saying my name? You don't even say it this much when we're having sex," he chuckled, grabbing his phone, keys, and wallet. "Text me quickly. I'll be right back." He was out the door before I knew it.

I sat on the couch, letting out a sigh. I grabbed my phone and texted him the details before turning to Whiskey. He climbed into my lap and I kept scratching him. "I think I like Reece," I said, talking to the puppy. "Like really like him, you know. Not just his dick, you know what I mean?"

He looked up at me, blinking a few times.

"It doesn't sound like a good idea though. Catching feelings for Reece Griffin. It sounds like the route to heartbreak." I groaned, throwing my head back. What if I fall for him? "No, no, no, that can't happen. It's just a phase, right? It has to be. I'm just swaying a little because he's being so clingy. If I get clingy, he'll act like a dick and I'll remember why I could never like someone like him, right?" I looked at Whiskey who just stared at me blankly. "Yes, yes, yes. That's what I need to do. Get clingy. Remind him that we're only around each other for sex. That way, we won't spend all this extra time together and I won't even risk liking him. Right, Whiskey?"

He lay back down.

"Right."
