《Sweet Disaster》12| Arrogance

We were sitting down, lacing up our skates. I tied them up quickly and then turned to her. "Are you going to ignore me for the rest of the day now? Just because of what I said?"
She ignored me yet again and kept tying her laces.
I grabbed her leg, pulling it over my knee.
"Oi!" she exclaimed while I pulled her closer and tied her laces for her.
"I asked you a question," I said, putting her leg down.
She stood up, quickly moving to the ice rink.
"Indigo!"
She ignored me and stepped on the ice. If she didn't know how to ice skate, she would be so humiliated right now. But she does know how to ice skate. So, she skated off.
And I followed. I skated, skitting in front of her, blocking her way. "Indigo."
She moved right and I blocked her way. She moved left and I blocked her way again. So she turned around and started skating anti-clockwise, going against the crowd.
I blocked her way again, ice flying under my skates. "Come on," I groaned. "What do you want me to do?"
"Say sorry." She folded her arms across her chest.
I sighed, scratching my eyebrow. "What exactly am I sorry for?"
She rolled her eyes, giving me a push and turning back around, skating faster.
I grabbed her wrist and dragged her back, my chest colliding with her back. "I'm sorry," I said softly. "For being a dick and trying to tell you what to do."
She stared ahead of her, not looking at me over her shoulder. God, she really knows how to set me straight.
"And for being rude and insensitive. Hmm?" I asked slowly. "Are we good?"
She elbowed me and I let go of her. She skated a few paces away and then turned to me. "We're good... if you can catch me," she smirked.
"I'm a fantastic ice skater, you should know," I scoffed, slowly inching forward.
She skated backward and then spun around. "Let's see!" She started skating faster and I waited a couple of seconds before I started chasing after her.
I almost had her a few times and then she would skate around a stranger and I would have to slow down so I didn't crash into anybody. And then when I almost had her another time, a little kid who was skating anti-clockwise and going the wrong way, crashed right into me. I winced, landing straight on my back and my elbow taking the blow while the kid fell on top of me. I looked watching as she laughed while skating back over to me.
"You made a little kid fall!" she exclaimed.
I looked at the little boy that was still on top of me. "You okay?" I asked.
He looked at his palm, which I'm sure had an ice-burn. Then he started sniffling and crying.
I whined, putting my head down while she helped the little boy up.
"Are you okay?" She kneeled on the ice, wiping his cheeks.
He kept crying.
"You live and you learn," I mumbled, sitting up.
She smacked my knee and then turned to the little boy again. She blew the ice off his palm, gently wiping it with a single finger before standing up, holding her hand out. Not for me, for the kid.

He grabbed her hand, frowning down at me.
"Say sorry," she barked at me.
"But he bumped into me," I groaned.
She kicked my skate with hers. "Say sorry."
"Sorry," I mumbled, standing up.
She looked at the little boy. "Are you okay?"
He nodded.
"Can you buy me ice cream?"
I looked at him incredulously.
She laughed, nodding. "I'm Indie, what's your name?"
"Zach."
"Zach, what ice cream do you want?" She skated to the exit with him and then they waddled to the snack shop.
I skated over to that end of the rink and watched.
She bought him ice cream and then made him sit at the table. She asked him something and he pointed in a different direction where a lady was sitting with another lady. I'm guessing that's his mom and a friend of hers or something. Then Indie came back over and climbed back into the rink, skating over to me.
"He was skating the wrong way," I said, skating with her.
"So? He's just a kid, come on." She kept skating, a small smile on her lips.
"Do you like kids?" I asked, both of us rounding the corner.
She nodded. "You don't?"
I shook my head.
"Why?"
I shrugged. "They're annoying, always whining, always complaining."
She narrowed her eyes at me. "You know when you fall in love with someone and then get married and want babies, you'll change your mind like this." She snapped her fingers.
"Ay." I snapped my fingers in front of her face and she blinked, getting startled. "I'm never going to want kids. I'm probably never going to fall in love with someone like that. I might never get married, who knows?" I felt her eyes on me and I turned to her.
"That would be a lonely life."
"So? There are plenty of people living lonely lives."
"They aren't happy though. Don't you want to be happy?"
I shrugged again.
"No, you just want to be arrogant. You know where arrogance leads you? It leads you to fall like you did back there after saying you're a fantastic ice skater," she scoffed.
"That had nothing to do with my arrogance. If Zach didn't get in my way, that wouldn't have happened."
She laughed, "Are you really blaming your fall on a little kid right now?"
A group of girls in front of us skated anti-clockwise too, going around us and pushing us apart.
"Oi," Indigo huffed in frustration, looking at them over her shoulder. She gasped when her skate slipped on the ice and she fell but I grabbed her wrist and pulled her to me in time. She grabbed onto my shirt. I kept skating forward and she skated backward, still holding onto me.
I raised my brows at her in silent questioning.
"Huh?" she mumbled, looking flustered.
I chuckled, watching her face. "You look cute."
She frowned, "I always look cute." She spun around and skated forward but stuck her hands out behind her.
I grabbed onto her hands, both of us skating with her leading the way. After an hour of skating, we headed out. "Are you hungry?" I asked.
She shrugged, "Chloe and I had some food when we got here."
"Then let's get slushies," I said, pointing to the stand.

"I'll pay since you paid for ice skating. Which one do you want?" she asked, taking out her wallet.
I took her shopping bags out of her hands, holding them for her. "Blue," I answered.
She ordered the slushies and handed me the blue one, keeping the red one for herself.
We both kept walking around and talking while slurping our slushies, eating the shaved ice. "Switch," I mumbled, elbowing her.
"Huh? No, I don't want the blue one," she whined, keeping her slushie to herself. We both sat down on an area of benches and couches. She kept eating the ice and then slurping it down. "What?" she asked without looking at me.
"Hmm?" I mumbled, my eyes scanning the side of her face.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"Am I?"
She turned to look at me, shooting me a pointed look. "What is it?" she huffed, resisting an eye roll.
"Nothing," I said softly, my eyes drifting to her lips.
She shook her head, chuckling. "Do not kiss me." She pulled the straw in her mouth, looking away from me. She turned to look at me again, pulling her slushie away. "Stop staring at me!"
I shook my head slowly.
She stood up, standing behind the railing, next to the escalator, looking at all the floors below ours. "Do you see Caleb and Chloe anywhere? Let's see who can spot them first," she chuckled, looking around.
"Okay," I said absentmindedly while looking around.
She ate some more shaved ice while scanning the floors. I grabbed her waist and spun her around so her back was to the railing. "Does this help you see better?" she scoffed.
"Hmm," I nodded.
She looked at me daringly.
So I took the dare. I leaned down and kissed her, diving in headfirst. Or tongue first, whatever. She hit my chest lightly with a fist in a bleak attempt to push me off. I pulled back to look at her once. "What?" I nodded upward.
"Nothing," she shook her head. She went on her toes and I let out a soft laugh, leaning forward and kissing her again. She grabbed on tighter, kissing me back harder while her hand rested on the nape of my neck, her fingers dancing in my hair. We were getting into it when she pulled away. "My slushie will melt," she frowned, pushing me off and slurping it down.
I huffed, finishing mine before tossing the empty plastic cup in the trash.
She finished hers too and then turned to me. Before she could even talk though, I kissed her again. She froze under me momentarily and then kissed me back.
I grabbed her waist tighter, pulling her body against mine. I could hear Landon on the phone with someone as he walked past us. We both stopped, pulling away. She peered over my shoulder and then looked at me.
"Did he see?" I whispered.
She shook her head.
I leaned in again and she leaned back in this time, kissing me first.
A minute or two later, her phone rang in her pocket. We both broke away and she answered it, putting it to her ear. "Hello?" She looked up at me while listening. "Okay. Yeah, okay. Bye." She hung up, slipping the phone back into her pocket.
I lifted both brows at her. "Chloe's going home. Caleb's taking her. She said they'll hang out at the apartment so I shouldn't show up," she huffed.
I chuckled, watching her. "Then shall we go buy those clothes for you? Then we can head out?"
"I don't want them anymore. What about the project?"
"We'll start tomorrow," I shrugged. "Come on." I grabbed her hand, pulling her with me. I grabbed all her bags and kept them in my hands and I started dragging her with me.
She stumbled, jogging and keeping up with me. "Will you slow down? You walk so fast," she huffed. I slowed down and she walked beside me. "Can we get more slushies?"
"No," I said quickly.
"Why?" She pouted.
"Show me your tongue," I said as we stepped onto the escalator.
She stuck her tongue out, standing beside me. "It's red, right?"
I shook my head. "It's purple," I laughed.
She blinked in confusion before saying, "Show me your tongue." I stuck my tongue out and her mouth formed a small 'O' in realization. "Yours is purple too."
I chuckled, both of us stepping off the escalator and walking to the next one. We finally made it to my car and I pulled the door open for her. Once she climbed in, I opened the back door and put all her bags in the backseat. Then I climbed in and started the car, both of us buckling up. I started the car and put one hand behind her seat while swiveling around to back out of the spot. I felt her staring at me. "What now?" I asked, shifting gears and turning to the front, turning the wheel with one hand and getting out of the mall's parking lot.
"You look good when you drive," she said in a small voice.
"Do I?" I asked, glancing at her.
"Mm-hmm," she nodded.
"Indigo," I sang.
"Yes?" She sang mockingly.
"If we aren't going to my apartment for the project, what are we going for?"
"What do you think we're going for?"
"Sex!" I said excitedly.
"No!" she said, mocking me.
"What do you mean?" I frowned.
"We're not having sex today or tonight. I need a break. I'm tired of having sex with you."
I reached over, pinching her thigh.
She winced, throwing my arm off, pinching my arm back.
"We're having as much sex as we can while we can still do it."
"But we don't know how long we've got. So, it might even go on for months. That doesn't mean we'll do it every damn night thinking we'll never get to do it again. Don't worry though, we'll have one last hurrah, okay?" She teased, trailing a finger down my arm.
"But every time it should feel as good as one last hurrah would."
"Every time. Not every night."
I frowned and kept driving. We reached my apartment building shortly after and I parked, both of us climbing out and heading to the elevator.
"Landon saw you today, right?" she asked, pressing the button to my floor.
I nodded. "He called me but I didn't answer. He'll probably call again."
"What if he shows up at your apartment?"
I turned to her. "Then I'll hide you in the closet."
She pulled on an offended expression and shoved me.
I laughed, turning to face her.
"You're such a dick, why am I doing this with you?"
"Because I'm fantastic in bed," I smiled, cornering her into the wall, trapping her there.
"You're okay, not that great."
I scoffed, looking at her in disbelief. "Take that back."
She stuck her tongue out, blowing a raspberry.
"Take it back," I said slowly.
She stuck her tongue out, shaking her head softly.
I stuck my tongue out and it almost touched hers and then the elevator dinged open.
She pushed me off and stepped out, skipping to my door while I followed her, holding all the shopping bags.
"I feel more like a boyfriend and less like a fuck-friend. Why am I holding your bags?"
She laughed, "I didn't ask you to." She leaned against the wall sideways, resting her head on it too while smiling up at me innocently.
"Don't look at me like that," I mumbled, unlocking the door and walking in, setting all the bags down.
She followed me in, standing right in front of me while I kicked the door shut. "Like what?" she asked, bouncing up and down on her feet, keeping her hands together behind her back.
"Like you didn't trick me."
"Trick you?" she scoffed.
"Don't act so innocent. You're doing something whether you know it or not."
"What am I doing?" she asked, grinning and moving closer to me. We both turned to the couch where a bark came from. "Whiskey," she shrieked, running over and sitting on the couch, pulling her legs up, and holding Whiskey in her lap. She did thousands of things. She made him dance, she rubbed his belly, she lifted him in the air, she talked to him. Actually talked to him. Then she lay down like he does when he's tired. And then he lay down on her arm, falling asleep. "I think your dog likes me more than you," she whispered, looking at me over the couch while I stood behind it.
I leaned over it, kissing her.
She smiled into the kiss before hooking a finger onto my shirt.
I pulled away, looking down at her.
"We're not having sex tonight. Keep trying," she whispered and then pushed me away. She closed her eyes and then began falling asleep.
I sighed, standing there and watching for a minute. "I have brownies, do you want one?"
They both perked up, her and Whiskey.
I looked at him. "Not you."
He whined, lying back down.
"You," I pointed at her. "Do you want any?"
She nodded, grinning.
I brought her a few on a plate, handing it to her.
"I have a puppy in my arms." She opened her mouth.
"You want me to feed you brownies?"
She nodded quickly.
I sighed, shaking my head. "The things I do for you." I held it up, letting her take a bite.
"The things you do for me," she giggled.
