《Sweet Disaster》4| Complex

The doorbell rang twice and I looked away from the TV and at the door. Whiskey lifted his head off my leg and looked at the door too. I turned the TV off and stood up with a sigh, throwing the cushion back on the couch and pushing it off my lap. I pulled my slides on and the doorbell rang three more times.
"Hold the fuck on!" I called out, picking up Whiskey and taking him with me so he wouldn't run out when I opened the door. The doorbell rang another two times and I rolled my eyes. I walked over and unlocked it, pulling it open. "Hello there, Indigo," I smirked, checking her out.
She blinked twice, staring at the puppy in my hands. "Since when do you have a dog?"
Has it really been that long since she came here with Landon?
She shook her head, bringing her attention back to me.
"Indigo?"
She scoffed, "I never should have told you I was born with that name."
I scanned her face and then realized she was here in regards to Landon. "Your boyfriend isn't here."
"I know," she nodded. "And I know where he is." She folded her arms across her chest and I willed myself not to let my eyes wander.
I looked at her questioningly. "He told you?"
"No, Chloe saw him leaving the diner with another girl."
"Maybe it was his cousin," I snorted.
"Reece."
I pulled my phone out of my pocket when it dinged. The time read midnight, exactly, and the reminder- Indigo's birthday- was flashing under it. I tucked it back into my pocket and looked back at her. "Happy birthday."
"It's tomorrow," she said slowly.
I shook my head, showing her the screen. "It's midnight." I put my phone away again and then looked at her outfit one more time. "Tell me something."
She rolled her eyes, looking around the hallway.
"Was your plan to give him the sex on your birthday?"
"Are you only asking me that because of the dress?"
I nodded. "Take it as a compliment though, you look hot."
"I look hot when I want to look hot for myself. Not your asshole of a friend."
"I keep telling you, he isn't my friend."
"He calls you his best friend, Reece," she said. She always likes to say that in argument.
I shrugged, "Not my problem."
She shifted her weight from one foot to the other.

"So, you dumped him yet?" I asked, leaning against the door frame.
She shook her head, "I haven't even called him yet. And I don't plan to. Are you going to make me stand in the hallway forever?"
"My bad. Come on in." I stepped aside and put Whiskey down, letting her in. I shut the door behind her, watching her as she stood there, staring at Whiskey. "Indigo."
She looked up at me.
"You can hold him," I nodded.
She broke into a smile and scooped him up immediately, walking to the couch and sitting down like she owned the place.
"You want a drink?" I offered, sitting beside her.
She shook her head.
I watched her for a minute while she played with Whiskey. "So... Why exactly are you here out of all places?" I asked, turning my body to face hers.
She nibbled on her bottom lip for a while before her body mirrored mine and her eyes locked with mine.
I lifted a brow at her, asking silently.
"Have sex with me," she blurted out.
I stared at her, very surprised, confused, shocked, and... extremely lost, I'm so lost here. "What?" I laughed, scratching my eyebrow with my thumb.
She rolled her eyes, "I'm not kidding."
I stopped laughing and my smile slipped away too. "You're serious?"
She nodded quickly.
"Wh..." What the hell do I even say? "What the fuck? Why?" That sounds about right.
"Because it's my birthday and your best friend just cheated on me."
I decided not to tell her that I had a feeling he'd been doing that for a while, considering how casually he told me about it earlier today. "But why me out of all people? Don't you hate me?" I narrowed my eyes at her.
"So? What's that got to do with anything?" She shrugged, turned her attention back to Whiskey, and continued playing with him.
I leaned back, watching her. "What if I say no?"
She looked back at me. "Then I'll leave. What else?" she said nonchalantly.
I scooted closer to her and she lifted a brow at me. "Have you no shame, woman?"
She scoffed, "Did Landon?"
I nodded slowly in agreement. "Point." I fell in thought. "So," I said slowly. "You want to fuck me just to get back at him?"
She thought for a moment before shaking her head. "I won't tell him that we had sex. I'm just doing it for myself. So I know that I got back and him and I—"

"Won?" I finished the sentence for her.
She nodded sheepishly.
I watched her again, trying to figure out if she was just fucking with me or if she was serious. "If it isn't me, is it going to be someone else?"
"Probably not," she answered. "You're asking a lot of questions, if you're going to say no, just say it. I'll be on my way then."
I never took her as the kind of girl to be so blunt. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just surprising to see this side of her, I have never seen it before and Landon never described her to be like this either. He always painted her out to be a considering, clingy, innocent little girlfriend. Not the reckless, vengeful, and careless girl.
"Why not someone else?"
She shrugged, "You don't need to know that yet."
I was genuinely a little amused. I leaned back, tracing my jaw with my thumb while contemplating it.
"Why are you thinking so hard?" she scoffed.
"I'm trying to decide if I'm horny enough," I mumbled, staring at the coffee table in front of me.
She snorted and then set Whiskey on the couch before standing up and walking to the kitchen, her heels clicking and her hips swaying with each step. That sneaky fucking bitch. She opened the fridge and grabbed a water bottle, leaning against the counter, her back still facing this side of the room.
"You have a God complex, don't you?" I asked.
She turned around, looking at me. "God complex?" She nodded. "It kicks in around you though," she chuckled, resting her arms on the counter and leaning forward.
I watched her, knowing exactly what she was doing. She knows it too.
She turned back around and opened the fridge, scanning it once before closing it with a huff and drinking the water again. She pulled her hair to one side and I stood up.
Mind made. Decision taken. Done.
I walked over, standing in front of her.
She pulled the bottle away from her lips, holding it in her hand while putting the lid on the counter. I looked her up and down one more time before my eyes locked in place with hers. "What?" she asked.
"Deal," I nodded. I stepped forward and she blinked in surprise like she was expecting me to say no. "Is that it then? No rules and conditions apply?" I smirked, putting my hands on the counter, trapping her in.
"Huh?" she mumbled.
I leaned in, my lips barely brushing against hers, but I didn't kiss her.
She looked up at me, seeming flustered now. No more God complex now.
I tilted my head to one side, reading her face. "Here or in my room?"
"You bring loads of girls to your room," she mumbled.
I chuckled, "No. I bring loads of girls to the apartment. My room is off-limits. Plus, there are so many other spots in the apartment. Want to try one of those?"
She narrowed her eyes at me. "Your room is off-limits but you're offering it to me, out of all people?"
I nodded, keeping my eyes locked with hers. "Happy Birthday."
She chuckled, shaking her head softly. "Why am I surprised? Lead the way." She gestured towards the two rooms that were divided by the TV in between.
"Just like that?" I frowned. "No, what happens to all the foreplay? Didn't you come here for pleasure?" I smirked, stepping even closer, my body pressing against hers.
She's annoying, she's annoying as hell. But she's hot and I reckon she knows what she's doing.
"Just one question."
"What?" she asked hesitantly.
"Are you completely sober right now?"
"Yeah, why?"
"That's important," I shrugged. "So, I was asking- didn't you come here for pleasure?" I let my hands fall from the counter.
She opened her mouth to say something but I didn't let her talk. Once we start talking, the talking will never stop. I grabbed her waist, hoisting her up onto the counter.
She grabbed my arms, clearly taken by surprise.
I stood between her legs, looking at her. "Yes or no?"
"Yes, but—" She cut herself short, letting the end of that sentence fade away.
"Another question," I cleared my throat.
"What?" she asked again.
"How much was this dress?"
"Huh?"
"And can I rip it?" I looked from the dress back up to her face.
Her brows furrowed. "No, you can't rip it, what kind of question is that?"
"Okay," I nodded slowly. I looked at the dress for a little longer until she snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"Hello? You want to just fuck the dress?"
"No," I shook my head again. "But I'm sorry in advance if I do. Rip it," I smiled, leaning in to kiss her.
She closed her eyes when I got too close and I could almost see her pulse in her neck.
"I hope that's okay, Indie."
Her eyes flicked open when I called her by her name. Her eyes were wide open and she was clearly surprised.
I chuckled, leaning in and pressing my lips to hers. If that's the reaction I get, maybe I should call her Indie more often.
