《Ballet With The Bad Boy》Chapter 7

"Come on, I've got breakfast to burn off." Leo spoke as if this whole situation didn't happen and I was gobsmacked.

"What the fuck was that?" I couldn't even help myself trying to stay cool about it.

"Don't worry about it Eli, let's just go." Leo brushed off my concerns and carried on down the alley.

I don't know why, but I followed him until we made it to the park. Neither of us spoke a word about what happened although I'm sure Leo knew I had about a million questions for him.

I knew that he had been kicked out from his old school for fighting, but drug dealing? That was completely different.

As soon as we made it to the start of where I usually begin my run, I took off in a sprint before Leo had even started to warm up.

If I just bombarded him with questions he would just get annoyed and not answer them anyway so I decided to go off on my own for a bit. My brain was reeling to much to engage in a normal conversation with him.

My hair swished from side to side as I turned to start my jog along the far side of the park, preparing my body for the next turn and my next sprint.

Glancing over my shoulder quickly I saw Leo was about twenty paces behind me, also in a moderate jog.

Seeing that he wasn't planning on catching up with me anytime soon, I plugged in my earphones that were wrapped around my phone into my ears and started to blast music through them.

The music distracted me from how out of breath I was so it usually kept me running a bit longer.

By the time I made it to the turn, I paused for a few moments to take some deep breaths but before I could even start to run, a hand on my shoulder made me jump out of my skin.

"Fucking hell!" I shouted, ripping my headphones out my ear and glaring at Leo who had managed to catch up with me in a matter of seconds.

"Jesus, calm down." His voice was deeper than usual, probably from being out of breath.

"What?" I glared at him as I tried to steady my already racing heart beat.

"Look, can you not say anything about the drugs," He looked around, as if to see if anyone was listening "Like, not to anyone."

"Why should I?" I placed a hand on my hip.

Leo was making the situation I was in a hell of a lot more complicated. He was my ballet partner, my brothers new best friend and the guy I was 'spying' on for his crazy mother.

How is it me that ends up in these situations?

"Because it could end bad for both of us." Leo explained and I gave him an incredulous look.

"Excuse me?" Both of my hands were on my hips now as I looked up to him "I won't say anything as long as you don't get me involved in anything. I'm under enough pressure as it is without my god damn dance partner being a drug dealer!"

Annoyingly, Leo just rolled his eyes at me in an over-dramatic way. I groaned out in frustration before plugging in my earphones once again and continuing my run.

School on Monday started off like any normal Monday did. A lot of complaining, groaning and bitching.

Personally, I didn't mind Mondays as I seemed to be able to get more work done. Everyone was too busy catching up with each other or catching up on sleep to disturb the teacher so they actually managed to teach.

I was currently sitting in my music class, listening to a backing piece that we had to improvise over.

As the song finished however and Mr Robinson went to explain what to do, an eruption of voices burst through the open windows which caught the attention of every single student in the classroom.

The view from the music block was on the ground floor which showed the sports fields.

What snagged my attention however, was the cause of the noise.

It was currently the boys PE lesson, football I think. In the middle of the pitch was a group of students who were huddled around something.

As more teachers showed up and made the boys back away, my mouth fell open at what was at the centre of the attention.

Not what, but who.

Leo and Hunter were fighting, fists flying at each other as the teachers tried to intervene.

I could hear Mr Robinson shouting to grab the attention of his class back but it was no use. Not many fights happened at this school so seeing one up so close was the best bit of drama anyone was gonna get.

The PE staff finally managed to grab a hold of both Leo and Hunter, but not before Leo full on head-butted Hunter in the face.

Even from here, I could see the blood spurt out of his nose and spray all over the pitch.

Jesus Christ.

I'd never seen Hunter in a fight before. He was an angry guy sometimes but never resulted anything with physical violence.

Whatever happened, Hunter must have been seriously provoked.

I was surprised for once that Harvey simply stood to the side of the whole brawl.

I noticed his black hair straight away as he kept away from the fight. I would have thought he would've at least tried to stop the fight but he looked helpless on the sidelines.

A couple of moments passed and Hunter and Leo were dragged back into the building.

Mr Robinson finally managed to gain the attention of the class back as the show outside was now finished.

He began to explain what he started to say before the disruption but I completely zoned out.

Leo and I were meant to practice in the gym again tonight but something tells me that wasn't going to happen.

When 3PM rolled around, I made my way to my locker and yanked my gym bag out from the small space. Even if Leo didn't show up, I was going to practice some of the solo moves on my own.

I sat in the library doodling whilst I waited for the basketball practice to finish.

Since the fight this morning, all everyone was talking about was Leo and Hunter.

Mostly Leo as he was the bad boy new guy. From what I heard in the lunch hall, Hunter had started the fight because of a dirty tackle Leo pulled when they were playing football.

But that didn't sound like Hunter at all. I've seen him be badly tackled when he's played against my brother and he's not easily angered by it.

There had to be more to the story than that. I wanted to know, but I have a feeling I'd hear it from Harvey when I got home.

No doubt Hunter will be there, telling him what happened from his perspective.

Catching up on my work, I finally shoved it in my bag when I noticed it was coming up to 4.

Making my way to the gym, I paused before I opened the door as I could hear loud music being played from inside.

It couldn't be the basketball players as they all went past me as I came down the corridor.

I pushed open the door to find three mats on the floor, the speaker set up on one of the benches and Leo in a perfect handstand.

His back was to me so I couldn't help but stare at his strength. Not just that though, but the purplish bruise that was already beginning to form on his shoulder.

Even with his hair in a bun, some strands fell either side of his head and dangled against his arms.

Honestly, I was just shocked that he was here.

Leo must've been holding the handstand for a while as sweat began to bead on his back and trickle down to his neck.

Like the last time we practiced, he was wearing tracksuit bottoms and nothing else.

Finally, when the song finished playing, he gracefully tilted backwards so he landed on his feet and faced me.

He looked shocked at first, his features red from all the blood that had rushed to his face. Even after the color drained, dashes of red and purple stained his face from punches, along with a small cut in his eyebrow.

"That wasn't very smart was it?" I spoke loud enough for him to hear me over the next song that played.

Leo shrugged his shoulders "Handstands are easy."

I gave him a blunt look, "You know that's not what I'm talking about." I moved so my gym bag was placed next to his.

I had gotten changed before I made my way to the gym so I didn't have to go into the smelly changing rooms.

It felt a lot nicer to be in my leotard and leggings than the shorts from last time. Leo moved to the speakers and turned them down, removing his phone from the aux cord and slotting in the CD that had the song from the routine on it.

"Hunter was being an idiot so I showed him that I don't tolerate idiots." Leo shrugged his shoulders again before stretching his arms up and clicking his elbows.

"Surely there was a more non-violent way of showing him?" I sighed, reaching down and touching my toes, following it with a quick stretch of my legs and arms.

"Not how I see it."

I didn't even want to question Leo anymore. I was starting to see the person he was and I really didn't like it.

He seemed sweet at first, almost charming. But now? I just see another bad guy waiting for the right moment.

And when that moment comes, I want to be a thousand miles away.
