The warning bell rang as I grabbed my math book out of my locker. I trudged to my class and walked in before the final bell even rang. I went and took my seat in the back corner of the class and dropped my book on my desk. What am I ever even going to use this stuff for? I'm fine with every other class but I can't concentrate, and it takes a lot for me to even tolerate math. I guess it doesn't help that my teacher is basically the Grinch either.
He was sitting in the front of the class with his wire glasses perched up on his thin nose. Mr. Johnson looked up as the bell rang and glanced around. His head snapped to the door as Julia busted through it.
He gave her a look that said she was already on his last nerve and she just gave him a guilty smile before sliding into a seat that was across the room from me since all the other seats were already taken. If that were me walking in even a second late, he probably would have given me a detention.
Unfair old man.
I tried to pay attention as he started his lesson although my thoughts kept bouncing around.
The bell finally rang after 45 minutes of sitting in that awful classroom. Now I just have to get through the rest of the day.
Lunch finally rolled around, and I walked to the cafeteria with Julie. Julie was the only one in my first class. I had Zack and Sam in my second, Eric and the 3 girls who thought they were queens in my third, just the queens in my forth, Zack and Kyle in my fifth, and then I had lunch with everyone.
After lunch I had Zack, Cody, and the queen bees in my seventh which was gym, nobody in my eighth and then I had a free period that Zack and Eric also had. I was glad I had managed to get my free period as my last because that meant I could pretty much go home early and avoid the masses of people at the end of the day.
Julie and I chatted as we walked, and I told her where to meet me after she had gotten her food. I had shoved a sandwich and a water in my bag this morning before I ran out the door so at least I didn't have to eat the awful overpriced 'food' the school provided.
"Hey Zoe, wait up!" I heard someone yell over to me. I spun around looking for the voice that had called for me and my eyes finally settled on Cody's face. He was jogging over to me and I smiled at him as he finally reached me.
"Hey Cody." I said looking up into his hazel eyes that were more towards the brown side under the florescent lights in here.
"Where is a pretty lady like you heading to?" he asked with a smirk. Typical Cody. I rolled my eyes playfully at him.
"Outside to eat." I answered as I saw Sammy walking over happily with a slight skip to his step.
"Oh cool, where are we sitting?" he asked with his smirk still stuck to his face. I raised an eyebrow at him and was going to respond but I was wrapped in a strong hug before I could get any words out. I panicked for a second but relaxed and hugged Sam back once I realized it was him. He pulled away and grinned at me.

"Hey Zoe, I missed you!" he said almost bouncing on his feet.
"You saw me 2 days ago." I said but he just looked around excitedly. Looked like somebody drank a gallon of energy juice this morning.
"I know. Where are we sitting for lunch?" he asked looking over his shoulder to and an approaching Eric who had a lunch tray in his hands.
"Hey Eric, and outside. Julie is going to be sitting with us though." I said greeting Eric and answering Sam's question.
"Is she hot?" Cody asked piping back in. I laughed and shook my head at his player ways but didn't answer his question. I saw Julia walking over to us, well more to the doors we were standing by.
"Julie!" I called over to her and her head snapped over with a smile. She continued to make her way towards us.
"Hey!" she chirped looking at me and then glancing around to the boys that were present. Somebody bumped into me trying to get by and I sighed.
"Do you guys want to go outside and then I can introduce you?" I suggested as I walked backwards a few steps so I was at the door that led outside.
A chorus of 'sures' and 'yeahs' were heard as I pushed open the door and breathed in the fresh air. I held the door and our group poured out and thanked me as they walked out into the breezy warm weather.
We all made our way over to a large picnic table and sat down. Julie and I sat across from each other on the edges and Cole sat to the left of me while Eric sat next to Julie with Sammy sitting down next to him, leaving the other end open for the other boys who Sammy had said would be here in a minute.
"Well, this is Julie, I call her Julia or Jules but some better names would probably be devil reincarnated or drama queen." I introduced her which got me a glare before she turned to the boys and smiled.
"And this is Cole, aka the douchey flirt, Eric, the one with the most common sense, and Sammy, the one who is basically a happy puppy all the time." I finished off smiling.
Cody jabbed me in the ribs with his fingers before yelling "Hey!" and pouting but only for a second before he turned back to the smooth flirty boy that would probably flirt with a tree if he was feelin' it.
"Hey there beautiful." He said smirking at Julie who just laughed slightly. I heard a small thud to my left where Cody was sitting. I turned around to see him looking up at Zack who I had assumed had just hit him in the lead with his water bottle.
"Owwww, what's with you and hitting me with water bottles?" Cody whined at him as I just stifled a small giggle.
"Scoot over." Is all that Zack said as he threw his sandwich on the table between me and Cody. Kyle sat down on the other side of the table and nodded at me. I nodded back with a smile before turning my attention back to the bickering boys next to me.
"Why? I want to sit next to Zoe." Cody whined again crossing his arms stubbornly.
"Well Zoe wants to sit by me, don't you Kitten?" he said turning to me with a smile. I just scrunched my eyebrows up in confusion.

"Surree?" I asked drawing it out questionably.
"What? Why don't you want to sit with me?" Cody said struggling as Zack started to push him further down the bench.
"Because you just stabbed me in the side." I said smiling as Zack sat down next to me.
"You called me a douche! And I didn't stab you, I poked you!" he exclaimed as Zack just set his water down and started to unwrap his sandwich.
"I said you were douchey, I never actually called you a douche." Is all I said before I heard a sigh and small 'whatever'.
I looked back over to the rest of the group who was looking at us amused. I just gave them an innocent look and shrugged.
Zack bumped my shoulder and I looked over to him confused. His eyebrows were raised, and he nodded his head to the other side of the table. My eyebrows scrunched up and I looked over. My mouth formed an O as my eyes landed on Julie.
"Sorry, this is Julie. Julie, this is Zack and that's Kyle." I said motioning to them both. She nodded and smiled at them.
"So you're her best friend right?" Cody asked and Julie nodded.
"Yep, the one and only." She said smiling. I rolled my eyes at her slightly.
"How long have you known Zoe for?" Zack asked curiously. He seemed to study her as she thought for a second then replied.
"Almost a year now, I met her at the library. I was trying to use the computer there and saw her sitting looking all lonely reading there on a Saturday so I said hi."
"Gee thanks Jules." I said sarcastically as I unwrapped my sandwich the rest of the way. Zack nodded slowly and took a bite of his own sandwich at the same time as I did.
"Ohh, I have an idea, why don't you expose some secrets about our girl Zoe, we don't have any dirt on her yet." Kyle said evilly. Julie laughed at him and opened her lunch.
"There's not much to tell, she's pretty boring." She laughed making me roll my eyes once again and stay silent. Julie is the kind of person who changed around different people. Its one of the things that annoys me most about our friendship and the main reason that I wasn't really sure about introducing her to the boys.
"Aw come on, she has to have something she's hiding." Kyle said grinning at me. I shook my head. If only they knew.
"Well, there is this one thing that she won't even tell me about." I froze for a second before swallowing my bite of sandwich.
"Ouu, what is it?" Cole asked leaning forward.
"Julia." I warned looking at her seriously.
"Relax, I don't even know anything about it, how could I tell them?" she said with an airy laugh. I sat back and picked up my water, sipping it waiting for somebody to say something.
"What are you hiding Zoeee? Got some skeletons in your closet?" Kyle joked as Eric, Sam, and Zack pretty much ignored the conversation as they ate their food.
"Nothing, drop it Kyle." I said setting my water down again. He looked at me curiously for a second before Zack spoke up.
"So, does anybody have any plans for the weekend?" he asked and some of the boys instantly brightened up and started talking about a party that was going on and some other stuff that I wasn't interested in.
I stayed quiet and ate my lunch, lost in my thoughts. The heavy feeling in my chest and stomach lightened slightly as everyone forgot about everything and continued their conversations.
I felt eyes on the side of my head as I looked down and continued to study the wooden table.
Don't look up. Don't look up. Don't look up.
I looked up. Fuck.
His steely blue eyes pierced into mine as he studied my face intently.
"You okay?" he asked sincerely. I gave him the best smile I could.
"Yeah, I'm fine."

Nails dug into my arm and spun me around as I was trying to make my way to my last class before my free period. My eyes trailed up someone's body taking in their tight, brightly colored clothes. Our eyes finally met, and I sighed when I realized who It was.
"I need to get to class, what do you want Sarah?" I asked annoyed as I jerked my arm out of her hand.
"I want you to stay away from Zack." She hissed in my face. The final bell rang and I got more impatient knowing was going to be late and probably given a detention.
"First of all, personal space bubble, step back. Second, invest in some gum or mints. Third... what?" I asked with raised brows. She just glared at me. Her two 'friends' were at her sides with their arms crossed giving me dirty looks too.
"You think you're so amazing since you've wormed your way into their little group, don't you?" She sneered stepping forward making me take a step back. Not from fear but from her makeup caked face being so close to mine.
"Once again, personal space, and why do you even care anyways?" I asked as her face turned slightly red from my first comment.
"He's mine, back off or else there will be some serious problems for you. I won't warn you again. Understand?" she ground out flipping her long blonde hair over her shoulder.
"Sure, whatever you say Sandra." I said fully aware that wasn't her name but knowing it would piss her off.
I was right.
Her face became slightly more red.
"Its Sarah, you hog." She seethed before stomping off. I had to say she had some talent. Pretty impressive not to fall or break your ankles stomping like that in those heals. I scoffed and made my way to the class down the hall that she had made me late for. Luckily this teacher liked me and I was able to come up with a good excuse. All she told me was to not let it happen again.
I slid into my seat and was able to pay attention in this class other than a few random thoughts about Sarah and her minions.
What did she mean when she said he was hers?
Whatever, who cares?
Definitely not me.
