Zoe's P.O.V
She was just ogling at Zack the whole time.
"Alright I'll be right back with menus." he just ignored her as he turned to me.
"They have awesome burgers here and the best milkshakes."
I smiled a bit before saying "I don't really want anything."
Peoples voices echoed in my head taunting me about my appearance and weight.
"Why?" he asked looking genuinely confused.
"I'm just not really that hungry." I answered.
"We've been working out most of the afternoon, you have to be hungry." he argued. I just shrugged and looked down to the table.
"Come on Zoe, please?" he asked. I looked up to his pouting face and sighed.
"Fine." I replied making him grin again. We talked while waiting for our food to arrive. When the girl had come back to take our orders. She once again only acknowledged Zack. When she came back and placed our food in front of us, Zack completely ignored her while I said a quick thanks which seemed to annoy her even more. She threw a quick glare at me before placing her hand on Zack's shoulder and rubbing it a bit.
"Do you need anything else?" she asked in a high pitched voice making me cringe.
"Nope." Zack said flicking her hand off of him.
"You sure? I'm sure I can get a discount for a hottie like you. I'm sure I could get you my number too." she continued on. Zack took a deep breath getting more annoyed with every word she spoke.
"No, now if you could please leave us alone that would be fantastic." Zack replied. Sarcasm practically dripping from his words. She huffed a bit before saying
"Fine. I'm sure you'll chance your mind though." and spinning around on her heals and clicking away.
"Doubtful." he muttered under his breath. I rolled my eyes at her before we continued our conversation and ate. The burger was delicious and I was starving but I only ate about half of it. When we were ready to leave, Zack signaled over the waitress.
"Have you changed your mind yet?" she asked flirtatiously while blinking her eyes trying to look sexy. It really only managed to make her look like she had something in her eyes.
"Definitely not. Get us the bill." he ordered completely ignoring her latest attempt to win him over. She huffed again and slammed the bill down on the table before glaring at me again. Suddenly her mood brightened and she turned sickly sweet again.
"Let me clear this away before you leave." she said reaching over to my water glass. I knew what she was going to do before she even reached the glass. She picked it up and pretended to 'accidentally' drop it but before anything spilled on me, I caught it and looked up to her. I stood up along with Zack who looked like he was about to rip her head off at this point.

"You dropped this." I said in a fake sweet voice before throwing the glass of water in her face. Zack busted out laughing while I just smirked at her. She let out an ear piercing shriek before screaming some profanities that were along the lines of 'don't come back' along with calling me several names.
"lets go" Zack said still laughing. I nodded laughing along with him while she stormed over to behind the counter.
"He's too good for you, you know that right?!" she shrieked right as we opened the door to leave. I have her the thumbs up while Zack flipped her off before we stepped out of the café and made our way over to his bike.
"You're way different than I thought you would be Zo. I thought you were just a boring nerd." he teased while nudging me over a bit.
"Well you're not the big bad wolf as everyone says you are, I'll give you that. More like a big fluffy puppy." I said poking his nose which made him roll his eyes.
"I'm not like a puppy." he huffed grabbing the helmets off of his bike. I grabbed mine from him and put it on while he did the same. We both hopped on the bike as he sped off towards his house. He pulled his bike up to the side walk while partially turning around to look at me. I looked at my watch to see it was already 6:30 and the sun was setting.
"Do you have to go home now?" he asked. I glanced back up to him before replying
"You're probably bored of me now so yeah I better go." with a small smile.
"I'm not bored of you Zo. Do you want to come in? Sam has been bugging me about when you were going to come over next." he said with an eye roll.
"Uh sure." I said with a small laugh. I slipped off the bike and stood a couple feet away as Zack did the same. I slipped off my helmet and handed it to him as I finger combed through my hair to try and make it look a little nicer. The bruises on my face had finally faded to the point where you could barely see them and they no longer hurt. I walked up to the door by Zack's side. I heard a couple people inside as Zack unlocked and opened the door. We stepped in and he locked the door behind us.
We walked forward and turned right into the living room where Sammy, Cody, and Kyle were. They were all on the couch and were fighting about what I think was a video game. Zack cleared his throat, making everyone turn towards us.

Sammy jumped up and yelled"Zoe!" he skipped over and I think was going to try and hug me but Zack stepped into his way.
"Calm down Sam. You don't want to scare her off just yet now do you?" he asked to which Sammy just huffed and rolled his eyes. Zack stepped back to my side which made Sammy look up and smile at me.
"Sorry" he said. I laughed a bit and said
"It's alright, how are you Sam?" his smile brightened and was back to his normal self.
"I'm good, but they keep saying I cheated because I beat them at a game." he pouted before glaring at Cody and Kyle. He didn't really look mean. More like a kitten trying to look mean. Sam just had the type of personality that you just couldn't not like. I laughed and looked over to the other boys. Kyle stood up and walked over to me.
"I don't think we've been formally introduced, I'm Kyle." he said with a smirk while holding out his hand.
I shook his hand while saying "Zoe." in a small voice. It took me a bit to warm up to new people.
"So what's a beauty like you doing hanging out with a jerk like Zack?" he asked with his smirk only widening. I laughed a bit and Zack only gave him a warning glare before looking back down to me.
"You think that's funny?" he asked. Raising his eye brow.
"Hilarious." I said sarcastically which only made him give a fake glare. I started laughing again and took a step back as he stepped foreword.
"Oh I'll show you funny" he said and within a split second he had thrown me over his shoulder. I let out a squeal as he started spinning. I heard Sammy laughing and the other two let out little chuckles.
"Put me down Zack or so help me god-" I started to say before he cut me off
"You'll what?" he said tauntingly.
"Put me down Zack!" I yelled again.
I felt and heard him let out a sigh before saying "If you insist." and in a split second I was flying through the air. My scream was cut off by me landing on the big plush couch. I sat up and glared at him playfully. Sammy was right next to me so I turned to him.
"I like you more than Zack right now." I said pouting.
"That's because I'm way better than Zack." he said with a grin.
"Nope, I'm better." Zack butted in.
"Nope! Even my movie collection is better." he argued again.
"Wanna see it?" He turned to me and asked. I smirked knowing It would get a reaction out of Zack.
"Sure lets go." I said standing up with Sam. We started walking out of the room and around Zack but he grabbed me by my waist and pulled me back.
"Where do you think you're going Ms. Star?" Zack asked.
"Away from you." I said sticking out my tongue at him and trying to pull away. I know, real mature.
"Nope, I don't think so." he said pulling me back towards the couch.
"And why is that?" I asked still trying to get out of this grip.
"Because I said so. You're staying right here." he said as he plopped down on the couch, pulling me down with him. I let out a little squeal as I landed on top of him and tried to scoot over.
"Zaaack. Let me gooo." I whined drawing out my words.
"Nope" he replied. I could hear the amusement in his voice. Sammy walked over to us.
"Are we going to go see my movie collection?" he asked with a pout.
"Zack wont let me go." I said trying again to get out of his grip.
"How about I just go get a movie and we can all watch it?" he asked happily.
"Sure Sam." Zack said with a smirk. I huffed again while Sam went to grab a movie. A second later, Sam came running down the stairs with a movie case in his hand.
"What kind of movie is it?" I asked as he put it into the player.
"Action." he said excitedly. Zack finally let me slide beside him but slipped his hand from my waist to my shoulder.
I leaned up against Zack and pulled my knees up to my chest as we started watching the two hour long film. I could feel his every breath against my side as the opening screen played and all I could think was this was going to be a very long movie.

Cheep!?

He survived when she, too, vanished, leaving behind nothing but a cryptic note. He was devastated, but he kept moving forward as best he could. Cancer didn’t put him down, and after suffering through several rounds of chemotherapy, Charles Monroe thought that things might finally be looking up. That is, until a virulent strain of ebola swept through the city. With his immune system strained as it is, the odds don’t look good for Charles. It claims that it needs his help and that it can give him a second life, one far away from all the pain he’s ever known. So, Charles answers as any reasonable person would. He says no. Charles isn't ready or willing to die yet. But, as with everything else to this point, even his choice to keep fighting is taken from him all too soon. With no other option but the dark oblivion of death, Charles chooses to make a deal with the spirit of a distant world that's seeking a wild card in its battle against the gods, monsters, and mortals that threaten its existence. Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent

Who Fixes Books Anyway?
On the pretense of a raise, the relatively new employee Pernie is called in to talk with her superiors. NOTE: This is a short story written for a class I took recently. As a result of deadlines, it does not possess the quality (or length) that I would like and is rather thrunkated. Perhaps sometime far in the furture I'll fix it up. For now, I have much more important things to work on, such as my other fiction.
