《The Man She Betrayed》53. Laugh Again

The next afternoon, after cleaning up the apartement, I changed into fresh clothes and decided to cook something.

As soon as I stepped inside the kitchen, I heard the doorbell ring. Putting a hoodie on my crop top, I walked towards the door and opened it.

"Ready?" It was Aaron, dressed in white trouser, a colorful cotton shirt and a light green hat on top of his head. This was the first time I was seeing him dressed in such colorful attire that it made me smile.

"Ready for what?" I asked, eyeing his outfit up and down.

"For the beach." he shrugged, running his fingers through his messy hair after taking the hat off.

"I told you that I am not going to beach with you." I said, crossing my arms in front of my chest.

"And I told you that I am taking you with me." he said firmly, imitating my action.

"Really? How?" I challenged and regretted it the next moment when he leaned down in front of me and threw me over his shoulder.

I yelped in surprise, a loud shriek left my mouth. "Put me down Aaron." I screamed on top of my lungs but he didn't listen. Closing the door of my apartment behind me, he entered into the elevator and pressed the button to the ground floor.

"Put me down Aaron Vincent or I'll... I'll kill you." I tried to punch his back but all in vain.

"Calm down wifey." he said, tapping on my thigh gently and my skin flushed in response.

Wifey?

As the elevator door opened on the ground floor, few people walked past us, staring at both of us with a frown on their faces. I had to keep quiet in order not to make a scene because Aaron didn't leave any stone unturned in embarrassing me.

Once we were on the parking lot, he opened the door to passenger seat and settled me inside.

"You stupid caveman. What do you think of yourself? You can't do this to me." I fumed in anger and he just calmly slid on his seat. I tried to open the door but he had already locked it. "My apartment is unlocked. Let me go." I ordered.

"Nobody is going to rob that apartment." he said and revved the engine. Soon, we were off to wherever he was taking me.

I huffed angrily and turned my face to the other side. I could feel his piercing gaze on my skin but I totally ignored him and kept my focus on the outside. The noisy roads turned silent and the buildings around us shifted into greenery and peaceful gardens within half an hour.

Soon, we were nearing the beach that was filled with people. He kept driving the car without stopping at any of those crowded place. My mind was flooded with curiosity but I didn't ask him anything because I was supposed to be angry at him.

The car halted to a stop in front of a deserted area of the beach where only few people could be seen running around.

"It's a private beach owned by a club I joined some time ago. Only its members have access to this place." he said when he noticed my confusion.

Once he unlocked the car, I stepped out of it without him and walked forwards. After a while, I felt his footsteps behind me, following me to the beach with dozen of things in his hands.

He stopped at a particular point and set the peach colored beach umbrella. He had planned it all, judging by all the things he had brought in the car. There were convertible beach chairs, sunscreen, food items, zip lock bags, towels, first aid kit, flip flop sandals and water bottles.

So he really wanted us to have a picnic together.

I tried to stay angry at him but watching his preparation, it melted my heart a bit and I helped him in setting all that.

"Thanks." he smiled and I shrugged.

Too bad, I didn't have any extra clothes with me. Pouting, I sat down on one of the chairs and watched as he stripped down to shorts and a tank top. I reddened on watching his tanned skin gleaming under the sun.

Realising that I was too overdressed for the beach, I stood up and pulled the hoodie off my body, letting the tank top on. I used the sunscreen on whatever part of my body was exposed and then lay back my head on the chair.

"If you haven't kidnapped like a caveman, I could have packed a bikini." I said.

"Do you have a bikini?" he raised his eyebrows.

"No." I answered and he grinned in return.

"Figured." he muttered under his break but I still heard it.

He checked inside the duffel bag, pulling two books out to read. He gave one to me and used the other one to entertain himself.

It wasn't too hot because we reached there at 4 pm and sun was going to set in two hours. There was a young couples beside us that was engaged in a passionate kiss and on seeing them, my eyes automatically moved to Aaron. He was reading a magazine and his lips were set in a pout unknowingly.

I forced my eyes back to the book and let the warmth relax my mind. After a moment, I felt a movement beside me. I watched as Aaron stripped the tank top off and stretched his limbs, the sight of his heavenly body causing giddiness in the pit of my stomach.

He walked to the beach with grace and then dived into it. I was always afraid of swimming and water so his presence in water worried me. I put the book aside and walked towards the beach, sitting at a distance from the water.

I kept my eyes glue to his long torso in the water, in case he got lost or something. When he found me staring at him, he stopped and offered to come in.

My face paled and I shook my head immediately. Pouting, he took another lunge in the water and my heart skipped a beat when he didn't come up for half a minute.

"Careful." I screamed when he came up again.

Tearing my eyes from him, I looked around the beach. The few people that were there had left too and now, there was just that young couple and us on the beach. The sky above us had started to darken and by the large amount of clouds, it looked like it was going to rain soon.

"Hey...." I gasped when I felt two arms hold me above the ground.

"Come on. You can't come to beach and go without taking a swim." he said and I groaned.

"I can. Watch me." I glared at him and tried to disentangle me from him.

He smirked in return and trudged towards the water with me still in his arms. He let me down once we were standing in the water waves.

"Come on." he laced his finger with mine and pulled me forwards.

"I'll die." I said, horrified.

"No you won't." he said and pulled me along until we were chest deep in the water. Saying that, he took another plunge in the water.

At first, I kept staring at me but then I slowly leaned into the water for a small moment. "It's... Its really cold." I said, struggling to breathe.

"No it's not." he said and swam towards me. Despite the coldness, I warmed up once he stepped into my personal space and gripped my sides.

Before I could think clearly, he went inside the water with me in his arms. That twenty seconds were the longest twenty seconds of my life. Once we reappeared above the water, I spat the water from my mouth and took deep breaths again.

For a moment, I thought I was going to die but then the world underwater became clear to my previously blurred vision. The fear of death alleviated a little and I actually felt good for the brief moment.

"How was it?" he asked, still holding on to me.

"It was... It was so... So refreshing." I said in between the deep breaths.

He smiled and then took another dive with his arms wrapped around me. This time, we stayed a little longer than twenty seconds and once we went up, I started laughing.

"Oh God. It's... It's so fun." I said in between laughs. My vision was still blurred due to after effects of the dive but I continued grinning at the rejuvenation I felt.

Once I could see properly, I found Aaron staring at me with an incomprehensible expression on his face. His eyes were fixated on my lips and his Adam's apple was bobbing up and down. My own throat felt dry at this and I gulped the saliva down my throat.

Slowly, he leaned towards me and I closed my eyes on instinct. His breath tickled the skin of my mouth and I licked my dry lips to moisten them. After a brief moment, I felt his soft lips on mine, brushing gently and causing my heart to skip a beat.
