《Ravenwolf's Rose》Kai and I... Alone Together In The Bahamas?!

"I'm so sorry!!" I couldn't believe I nearly hit him. He dodged the bat in time...
"What on earth are you --and what are you doing here?" Kai seemed to be gathering himself from the shock. He sighed while holding his hand to his chest.
"Nathan... thought it would be a good idea for me to spend some time away from Ravenwolf... why are you here?"
"We have VVIP clients here that I visit annually for their patronage. They were close friends with my grandfather..."
The dots seemed to be clicking together. Nathan, that little snake sometimes...
"Maybe... I should leave? I can make a reservation at a--"
"It's fine... after all, there's many rooms here and we're living together anyway..."
But it's just the two of us... why didn't I think about that too... I wanted to retract my statement but Kai seemed indifferent. So he shrugged and said: "alright...but be careful with that..." he pointed towards the bat and I nodded while placing it behind my back...
"So... these VVIP clients... how long will you be here for?"
"5 days... they collect vintage cars but every year they gift multiple cars from our S-Line to a relative, business partners and friends..."
"That must be nice..." having all of that money. How rich were these people?
"So, they have a house here, I'm assuming?"
"Yes, they have a few restaurant businesses and an estate. They have a private yacht as well."
I didn't know if my eyes could widen any larger... maybe there were dollar signs in my irises. The Bahamas were one of the most expensive places to live or 'retire' in... so I could only imagine what kind of money they make. Enough to bring the president of Ravenwolf to personally spend one week with them.
"Well... enjoy your private brunches and champagne on the yacht while I humbly enjoy the view of the beach from here.." I walked past him...
I'm sure he probably smiled...
*
I slept well last night. I'm sure it was because of the calming waves in the background... I couldn't believe just one night allowed me to forget a little about the chaos that happened just barely a week ago...
It was tough giving my statement to the police even after the incident because I was already re-living it in my nightmares... but this... seemed to remedy some of the pain left in my heart. For that, I'm grateful Nathan shipped me away to this place.
*
Bright and early in the morning, I went to the kitchen to make myself a berry smoothie.
Nathan told me that if I wanted to explore the city or go shopping, I just needed to let him know and he'll have someone escort me. I wanted to spend some more time relaxing by the water... I may talk a walk later. But for now, I was enjoying being lazy.
Mid-way through my smoothie I heard the doorbell ring. I waited for Kai to come out... but I thought about how it could be possible he was still sleeping. So I got up to see who was here this early... when I looked out the peephole it was an older looking couple. They were both wearing flip flops and had casual wear on. They looked like they were about to go sit down at a slot machine in Vegas.

When I opened the door they greeted me happily.
"Hello darling... we are looking for Kai," the woman asked.
"Yes.. may I ask who...?"
"We're old friends of his grandfather..." it must have taken me a few moments to realize that they were the one's Kai had mentioned... but when it clicked I couldn't believe they were the really rich island living people...
Before I could reply Kai was already behind me half-asleep. When he saw them he suddenly became alert.
"Mr. and Mrs. Davenport... what brings you here this early morning?" I turned to Kai and I could tell he was trying to compose himself.
"Oh, you know dear! We were excited to give you an island tour we just jumped the gun!" the woman was giggling now and her husband just grinned largely as though he were on an infomercial selling used gold.
"My apologies for appearing--"
"Not at all, son. We brought our jeep to take into the town. We'll wait for you until you are ready," the husband added. I tried smiling through it all but it felt like I was intruding.
"You didn't tell us you brought your girlfriend along. She'll have to join us."
I stared at her blankly wondering what she meant and then it suddenly dawned on me. I turned to Kai and then her and I said: "we're not dating!" enthusiastically. The woman laughed and encouraged her husband to go forward. Kai told them he'd be out soon and I shut the door.
"The amount of times we keep getting mistaken for a couple... funny, right?" I tried laughing it off, but Kai seemed to be in his own world.
"Hey... are you alright?"
"You'll have to join me today..." he exhaled.
"Wait... why?"
"The Davenport's are an important client to this company... I'm sorry for ruining your trip but--"
"That was more of a request, though."
"No, her word is her word..." Kai exhaled. Why did I even open the door? I wanted to kick myself.
"I'll somehow repay you... but please be ready to leave in 10 minutes... we'll clear up the misunderstanding by introducing you as the heir."
"Wait... what about my beach life?" Kai shook his head and it all felt like it was fading away now... so much for having a lazy beach day... I sighed.
When Kai was ready I walked out to the car with him. We got into the jeep and the woman jetted off to the next town. I held onto the grips so tightly. They blasted classic rock music and were both singing to the beat. I couldn't believe these were billionaires.
When we got to the town, we were taken to multiple boutiques. The woman, who introduced herself as Katherine and her husband whose name was Cliff, toured us around as promised.
Katherine enthusiastically pulled me from one stand to another; getting me to try locally crafted hats and bracelets.
When we were watching the sunset at the harbour I asked him why I had to tag along all day and Kai insisted it was because of Katherine.
"But they seem like nice people... why would they get upset if I didn't go?"

"They like the company..." I looked up at him seriously and asked him why and then he added: "they don't get to see their kids often, let alone their grand kids. So having time to spend with people that resemble those that they care about probably excites them..."
"Sometimes I really hate you..." I could see Kai smile from the corner of his mouth.
"It's not so bad, right? You had some fun today, right?" I glanced over at the crashing waves in the distance.
"Well, it was fun..."
"Hey, kids! Let's go get a bite to eat!" Cliff was waving at us now.
We ate dinner and then had some drinks on a rooftop bar. I couldn't believe how beautiful this part of the island looked at night as well. There were little lights in the palm trees on the property...
After a long evening,Kai and I were brought back to the house.
I immediately fell asleep thinking that I had my fill of the Davenport's but they came again... and again... and for the next few days I was whisked around the island with Kai. We went to local events for sculptures and artists. Went to dine at their restaurants. We spent time 'partying' on their private beaches with some of their friends.
I was able to try the freshest of fruit the island has to offer. I saw the Davenport's large estate and their car collection. I even saw one of the first S line's in their garage...
I sailed on a yacht I'll never be able to afford in as many lifetimes as I could count. I also got to swim in the open ocean with dolphins...
When I tried to get Kai to swim with me he was scared... which was quite the sight. I had to coax him into swimming with them... he eventually caved in and couldn't stop talking about it.
That was one of the first times I had ever seen him truly, effortlessly smile... and it made my heart ache a little...
On our fourth night the Davenport's surprised us at the Ravenwolf's vacation house with a 'candle light dinner.' Although we cleared up the misunderstanding about our relationship they still wanted to 'treat us,' since we had been going along with their whims the entire trip. I tried to tell them that wasn't the case and instead Katherine just hugged me and told me to come next time to visit as well because she wanted to see me again...
So, instead of avoiding the dinner, Kai and I sat outside together with the feast they prepared.
"This whole trip probably cost more than my entire University career," I was getting a little tipsy from the wine. Kai, who wasn't drinking as much as I was, just smiled and said: "probably more." That made me giggle. He stared at me while cracking a small smile.
Another half an hour passed and I really began feeling the buzz. My body felt as light as a feather.
I lifted my hands into the air to stretch: "I think I'm done for tonight..." it felt like I wouldn't be able to remember anything from this moment on... things were becoming foggier. Even Kai...
"Let's head inside..."
"Except...let's go swimming first..."
"What?" I launched myself forward while giggling.
"Wait! You'll hurt yourself!" I threw off my shoes and started taking off my shirt. I had my bathing suit underneath. Before I was able to submerge myself into the water, Kai wrapped his arms around my body to stop me. The water rolled up past my feet and I stood there a little stunned...
"Hazel... I'll help you back inside... be careful..."
"No... you're ruining all the fun..."
"You're drunk so you may drown," she was starting to giggle now.
I turned her around and started helping her back to the house.
Before she fell I wrapped my arms around her waist and exhaled.
"Come on... let's swim with the dolphins again..."
"We can go tomorrow," she was pouting now and for some reason I couldn't help but smile. This is the first time I've seen her like this. "I promise..." she looked like she was deeply debating about my sincerity in her mind.
"Okay..." just when I thought I would help her walk back inside she jumped onto my back. Luckily I braced myself before falling forward.
"Let's go!!"
Unbelievable...
She wrapped her arms around my throat and locked her legs around my waist...I sighed before I started walking forward. When we arrived at the patio again she tightened her grip.
"Hey..." I said and she nestled her head further into mine and I felt nervous. Still a little hot from her touch... I suddenly thought about her body pressing against mine... I hadn't been conscious of it and was embarrassed... what was this feeling? The closer she got... I just...
I opened the door and she whispered something to me. I asked her to repeat herself and she said: "thank you...if it wasn't for you... I would be... all alone..."
My heart started to race a little more... her skin was soft and she smelled like the sea...
I walked to the room she was staying in and I opened the door. When I tried placing her on her bed she gave me a bit of a tough time. When she released me she suddenly reached out and pulled me forward. I lost my balance and landed next to her on the bed. Her arms were wrapped around my neck.
It was uncomfortable but the space between us was closing and it was intoxicating... I could smell the sweet fruit from her lips...
"You're... always there... when I need you the most..." she was looking at me now. She loosened her grip a little and I was staring back into her eyes. It felt like I was slowly being drawn into her embrace...
When I realized what was happening between the two of us I tried pushing her away but she wouldn't budge.
Her legs then wrapped around my body tightly... I tried to shake her body off of mine several times before giving up...
I carefully laid down next to her on the bed thinking that when she finally fell asleep I could just remove her arms from my neck, but it didn't exactly go as planned....
