《An Heir's Forbidden Love》Ch13.

park my car at the parking lot and walk out of the car, one of our maids rushed to the car booth and brought out my luggage bag.

"Is my mom around?" I remove my sunglasses, hold my breath and pray that she isn't at home.

"Yes ma'am." She bows in courtesy and carries my bag in.

I don't think I'm ready to face my mom and listen to her nag about how incompetent I am and all others, she is just going to blame me for everything but I have no other choice. I steel myself for the scolding and nags that are surely going to come my way and walk-in.

I met my mom in the sitting room watching a program on the tv but I know that her mind is not really on the tv program, she is just waiting for me to walk in so that she can give me a piece of her mind. I walk to her and give her a peck on both cheeks which she returns grudgingly.

"I don't understand what you told me on the phone, Cassandra."

I know I'm in trouble anytime she calls me by my full name.

"Mom I promise it wasn't my fault this time."

"Mind explaining to me what happened?" She pats the space beside her on the couch and I take my seat beside her.

"Jace doesn't want to agree to the marriage contract between us. He said that the merger should be canceled."

"We have just four companies of ours while the Jeffersons have about ten, each one in ten different countries. The merger gives us the chance to call their companies ours and also share their profits. If Jace refuses to sign the marriage contract in the next two months, then the merger between us and the Jeffersons will be nullified." She explains calmly.

"B-but can't we manage the four that we have like that?" My mom shot me a murderous glare that makes me want to run into my room or better still go back where I was coming from.

I have been staying with a friend of mine for the past two days before coming back home to face my mom knowing I can't hide there forever.

"We would have gone bankrupt if not that I was able to convince them to agree to the merger. Now they have been able to make our company one of the best profit-making companies in the country and a lot of profit is rolling in. That will stop once the merger gets nullified and our income will lessen."

"So you want me to get married to Jace because of their wealth?" I ask angrily while jumping on my feet.

"Don't you know that I'm doing this for you? That I'm trying to secure your future? Do you have any idea how hard things were after your father left us? He left us with nothing but companies on the verge of going bankrupt." My mom flares up as I expected.

"I know that you're doing this for me and that this has not been easy since we lost my dad," I admit solemnly.

"No, you don't because if you do, you'll do everything in your power to make sure that boy signs the marriage contract." Mother yells at me and left for her room but not before giving me a look that shows how much she is disappointed in me.

I lose it and I break down into tears. If not for that idiot called Sasha, I'm sure Jace would have been mine by now. I'll make her life a living hell and show her what it means to mess with Cassandra Kimberly.

I try to get some work done without thinking about a beautiful and innocent-looking girl waiting for me at home when my secretary announced over the intercom that I have a visitor.

"Who is it?" I tap my fingers on the table impatiently while waiting for a printout by the printer in my office.

"She refuses to say."

"She?" I ask while wondering who it could be.

"Yes sir."

"Does she have an appointment with me?" I mentally go through my schedules for the day.

"No sir."

"You know the rule Rosa, no appointment, no entry."

"Yes sir."

"So why the hell are you disturbing me?" I growl in annoyance.

"She said it is important for her to see you."

"Do not let her in if she refuses to state her name and her purpose for coming, you can't just let a stranger into my office now, can you?." I hang up before she could reply, pick up the print out and walk back to my seat.

A few minutes later, I hear some noise coming outside like a commotion is going on, someone barged into my office and I raise my head to see who it is.

I open my mouth in shock when I saw that it was Cassie but what makes me more shocked is what she is how she looks. She has ruby lipstick on her lips and she is wearing a red gown that reaches her mid-thighs, it shows a lot of cleavages and it is obvious she isn't wearing a bra. Where the hell is she going to dressed seductively like that? I can feel a headache coming already.

"I told you you are not allowed to go in." I see Rosa running after her with a very pissed-off look on her face.

"It's okay Rosa, you may leave," I say calmly.

"I told you he will let me in once he sees that it's me," Cassie smirks at her while Rosa gives her a deadly glare and walks out but not before closing the door behind her gently.

"What are you doing here Cassie?"

"Hello to you too." She sits at my table and crosses her legs.

"Cassie... I'm a busy man and I don't have time for this, why are you here? And aren't you supposed to be in school?" I say with a glance towards the wall clock in my office.

"I already handled that." She waves her hand in dismissal. "I just wanted to ask if you want to be my date for the prom party."

I choke on my saliva. What? "You skipped school and came all the way here to ask if I want to be your date for the prom party."

"Yes." She confirms with a wide smile plastered on her face.

"Cassie that is about two months from now, shouldn't you be more concerned about your upcoming final exams?" I'm starting to get pissed but I try to play it cool.

Cassie makes her way to me seductively and bends to show me her cleavage.

"What do you see in that wretched girl called Sasha. Is she as beautiful as I am?" She purrs and takes her seat on my table while running her hand over my shoulders and chest seductively. Now I can see where this is heading.

I stand up, grab her hand and push her away from my desk in anger, now I'm so pissed off I don't think I can control my anger. "Enough!" I yell loud enough for everyone in the building to hear and I see Cassie's eyes grow wide in fear.

"Now. Get. Out." I say through gritted teeth.

"Jace...why do you keep on hurting me like this when you know how much I'm in love with you?" Her lips quiver and tears start rolling down her cheeks. "Do you know how long I have been waiting for you? All these years that you left, I have been waiting for you." I hate seeing a girl cry even though I know Cassie's own is fake. Eventually, my anger dissipates even though I know that Cassie doesn't love me, I think she just can't accept the fact that I rejected her. She once told me that if she doesn't have me, no one else will.

"Hey, stop crying, Cassie. I just don't love you, I have tried to but I just couldn't no matter how hard I tried. Everyone deserves better than someone who can't love them but pretends to." I say softly while sitting down.

"Just sign the marriage contract and let's forget about all this and move on. I love you so much, Jace."

"We both know that is a lie Cassie, you claim you love me yet you go around flirting with different guys."

"About that..." she tries to explain but I cut in.

"Just leave Cassie, I have had enough of this."

She wipes her tears furiously and gives me a deadly glare before walking out.

Finally! I sigh in relief and go back to what I was doing even though my mind is not at rest, I have a feeling that Cassie is planning something really big.
