《His Light, Her Darkness》Chapter 13: A Brief Goodbye

"Please let me go!" I scream as I'm dragged back inside by the devil himself.

What the hell is wrong with him?

"Never going to happen, principessa." He whispers into my ear as I continue to struggle. I can't believe him, he thinks he owns me! He is crazy!

I struggle in his grip, kicking a screaming, hoping someone will hear my desperate please for help.

"No one will help you Mia. You are mine now, you need to accept that, or you will find your life here very unpleasant." His voice is so smooth, like silk. He is so calm, even when he holds me; a strangling creature who has lost all her humanity, who's doing everything in their power to break free from his death grip.

I huff in defeat as I finally halt my struggle, just wanting him to let me go and leave me be. But he doesn't, in fact, he lifts me up over his shoulder, and I once again have to resort to violence. "Let me the fuck down, or i swear-"

"I thought you said you would have this under control?" A familiar voice interrupts me and the whole house goes silent. Matteo turns to meet the person behind us, and as he does, I catch a glimpse of the face of a dead man.

"Dante, what the fuck are you doing here?" Matteo growls, as his grip on me becomes tighter and more possessive.

I hear Dante laugh. He won't be laughing when my hands are wrapped around his throat. If it weren't for him, i never would've met this psychopath, and from what i can tell, they are working together!

They are both sick bastards.

"I came to check on you, and it seems it is a good thing i did." I can hear the sly smile across Dante's lips, and it takes everything in me not to scream profanities aimed at him.

"Everything is fine." Matteo seethes. "Nothing I didn't expect."

I slam my fist into Matteo's back, earning a groan. I smile, satisfied at my work. But almost as quickly, I feel a swat on my but, and I let out a squeak.

"It seems Mia doesn't appreciate being kidnapped and taken from her home. You should've taken my advice and let her be." Dante says.

"Oh shut up Dante, don't act like you're innocent in this. Maybe if you hadn't been so desperate to get inside her pants, she wouldn't be here right now."

I clench my fists, and feel my whole body turn to flames. "Fuck the both of you! You're both pricks and deserve to die painfully!" I scream at the top of my lungs.

"She sure does have a feisty spirit. I didn't think she had it in here." I hear Dante's footsteps approach me, and I see him in the corner of my eye, walking towards me.

"I think you'll find i'm full of surprises." I hiss right before landing a hard kick into Matteo's chest. His grip loosens and I wiggle out of his arms forcefully, dropping to the ground and taking many steps backwards, away from the both of them.

Matteo stares at me, a look of shock, quickly masked by anger. Dante however, looks amused, with a wide grin on his face. How i would love to wipe it off.

Both the men stare at my body making me feel dirty and objectified. And it's not until i look down at what i'm wearing when i realise why...

I'm still wearing Alice's blue silk pyjamas, just a singlet top and shorts. Suddenly I'm very cold.

I don't say anything, but maintain my distance from the men, hoping by some miracle, they will just leave.

"Mr Giovanni, one of the shipments has been-" A new man walks into the room, finally ending the stare off between me and the two men, high on testosterone. I feel slightly bad for the man though, as it looks like Matteo might just rip his head off.

"Is this important?" Matteo growls.

The man's face is unreadable, masked carefully. He wears a suit, just as Dante, and Matteo. Why does everyone dress so formal? "Yes sir. We've tried to contain the problem but-"

"Prepare a car for me, and I want a guard stationed, watching over Mia." Matteo commands before walking from the room, only to stop. "And Dante?"

"Yes boss?"

"Stay the fuck away from her or i will rip your balls off." And with that, Matteo leaves the room. Leaving me alone with the guard and Dante who looks slightly petrified, but just as everyone else, he hides it well.

Dante storms off, anger radiating from him. Now I'm left with the guard who murmurs into his ear, and I notice an ear piece. It's like these men are spies.

Within seconds I hear a set of footsteps heading down the corridor towards us, and into the room, steps another guard. The two men briefly acknowledge each other before the first man leaves, off to wherever Matteo went I suppose.

Great, now what the fuck am i supposed to do?

"Mr Giovanni has ordered that you return to your room." The man says, as he takes menacing steps towards me.

I will not have another man touch me.

As he reaches for me, I dodge him swiftly. "I can walk myself." I hiss.

Pursing his lips, the man frowns, but nods.

I'm taken back to Matteo's room, being shoved inside. As soon as the door closes, I hear the click of a lock.

I need to come up with an escape plan.

I stretch out my limbs, yawning as I pry my eyes open to the morning sun. It kisses my skin, and I welcome the feeling, however, coldness grows inside me as I feel the empty presence of Mia.

She has probably just gone to the bathroom.

Standing from the couch, I turn off the TV which has been on all night. I can only imagine what the electricity bill is going to be. Thank god i have a good paying job, otherwise i think i would've just gone broke.

Heading towards the kitchen, I spot a note on my marble bench top addressed to me. That's strange.

"Mia?" I call out into the empty abyss of my house.

Nothing, just silence.

Opening the note, I feel the crisp white paper in my hands. It's cold. I begin to read it.

Dear Alice,

I'm sorry to leave you a note and not formally say goodbye. But I thought it would be the best way for me to tell you that I am leaving New York. I am no longer happy living here, and have decided to venture to new places.

Thank you for understanding.

-Mia Jones

Dropping the note back onto the counter, my whole face drops. I am so dead. How did Mia slip away from me like this? I thought she was my friend. I sure as hell tried to be her friend.

But there is no way Mia would just up and leave like this. It isn't something she would do.

But either way it doesn't matter.

Roman is going to kill me for losing his daughter.
