Sinclair's mouth moved against mine as we kissed under the night sky. Thank god for me that we are sitting down because my knees would have been weak. Closing my eyes I felt his soft lips on mine only increasing the number of flutters in my stomach. I moved my hand to wrap it around his neck to bring his face closer to me. My heart raced as he started to move his head, kissing down my neck. Engrossed in each other we didn't notice Rissa walking over towards us.

"Sin it's time for your speech...Oh god sorry."

Removing my lips from Sin as I tried to catch my breath I turned my head towards Rissa. Her cheeks colored red in embarrassment for interrupting our moment. Like her, my cheeks twinned Rissa for getting caught making out with the lycan king.

"It's fine Karisa. We will catch up to you, can you get the crowd ready for me?" Sin asked.

"Of course."

Since Sin's back was turned away from Rissa once he finished talking he turned back to look at me. Looking back I saw Rissa's mouth move "We are talking about this later."

Giving her a nod for my answer we waited for Rissa to get away from earshot to begin talking.

"So..." I trailed off for Sin to answer.

"Right now I have to give my annual speech. Meet me in my office tomorrow sweetheart so we can continue where we left off" Sin said as he placed a feathery kiss on my lips.

Giving his suit jacket back to his as I blushed when he took my hand leading me back into the ballroom for the gala. I couldn't process our kiss very well. I mean how could you, I just kissed the fucking lycan king. Bringing me to Aiden and Xavier, Sin walked up the staircase to stand in the little balcony on top of everyone.

"Ana, why are you so red?" Aiden asked me.

"No reason" I replied quickly.

"It's because she was getting hot and heavy with the king outside," Rissa said as she, Leo, and Darius joined us.

"You're kidding right?" Xavier asked surprised.

"Nope, if I hadn't interrupted Nellie was almost sitting on his lap."

"So the old man is finally getting some. I thought he was on his way to be eternally celibate" Darius said.

"At least he is finally breaking his dry spell, how about you asshole?" Leo said to his brother.

"I could call the many girls on my contacts, ass," Darius replied.

"What contacts the only girls in your contact is me and your mom," Rissa said.

"Yeah and you aren't going anywhere near my girl," Leo said possessively. The two twin brothers bantered back and forth until Sinclair finally made his introduction. To his right was Adonis standing with Sin for formality.

"Welcome lycans. I thank you for attending the annual gala that we hold yearly. A few weeks ago we were graced by the precedence of the alpha, beta, and head pack warrior from the Midnight pack to help with our situation. Our court is coming closer each day to finding a solution to the black smoke. We will do anything in our power to protect your families and our pack. With that, let us put our worries aside for one night and enjoy our last dance of the gala."

Sin walked back down the staircase and walked to me. He asked me with his hand stretched towards me "May I have this dance?"

"How cliche."

Nevertheless, I still accepted his hand as guided me towards the dance floor. The music began and for the first minute, we just danced in peace. Putting my head on his shoulder I could feel him all around me as he twirled me around the dance floor. The closeness of him just brought back flashbacks of our kiss in the snowy gazebo.

"Sweetheart, I don't think I have told you this enough tonight, you look absolutely stunning" Sin declared to me.

Moving my head so I could see him with my eyes I replied "Thank you, and you look handsome too. I enjoyed getting to know you better tonight."

Sin smiled at me as we danced throughout the rest of the song. Once the song finished everyone walked towards the door in groups so it wouldn't overcrowd to leave. Sinclair and I joined the line to walk back to walk out of the ballroom.

"I'll walk you back to your room," Sin said to me.

Nodding we walked back to my room with our hands unlocked with each other. Once we got to my room Sin still didn't let go of my hand instead brought me closer to him. Removing our interlocked hands he put them around my waist.

"Meet me at ten tomorrow morning in my office, sweetheart."

"Ok."

Sin like the gentleman he is grabbed my hand softly and brought it to his lips. Placing a soft kiss on the top of my hand he then placed a soft kiss on my cheek.

"Goodnight, sweetheart."

"Night," I said as I walked into my room, closing the door behind me.

Both Xavier and Aiden were sitting on the common room couch. Xavier had his eyebrow lifted as Aiden directed his head towards the door. Ignoring them and rolling my eyes I walked to my bedroom to take off both my dress and makeup. In bed that night I dreamt of Sinclair's lip on mine and how I might get love after all. That morning right before I was supposed to go see Sin, Rissa came barging into my room while I was getting ready.

"Tell me everything," she said as she jumped onto my bed.

"Nothing big happened, we just talked and kissed. You interrupted us before we could get any farther."

"Well, that means you guys have a connection right? Did he ask you out?" she spitted out questions one after another.

"Slow the fuck down Rissa. Yes we have a connection I mean he is the first guy I have actually like after my ex-mate other than for sex. He also asked to meet me at ten today."

"Wait why the hell didn't you tell me sooner and why are you still in your room? Go!" Rissa said as she pushed me out of the Midnight suite.

As I walked down the hallway I heard Rissa call out to me "Tell me every detail later."

Giving her thumbs up I walked to Sin's office to see that he was in a meeting with Adonis. Both of them looked fearful until Sin saw me at the door masking his face. Over the past few weeks, I noticed that the two of them had a habit of keeping secrets and when they noticed someone there they instantly covered up their expressions. Logic is telling me it's just brother keeping their secrets but my instincts are telling me something is wrong and my insects have never been wrong. Adonis greeted me before leaving Sin and myself alone in the room. Sin walked over to me and kissed me lightly on the cheek.

"Hey there sweetheart, I was just in a meeting with my brother about the finances of the pack."

Lie. One thing I picked up over the past two years is to pick up on the truths and lies someone tells me. That's why Aiden leaves me in charge of the prisoners to see if what they tell me is the truth or not. Sin just outwardly lied to but for now, I will chalk it up to a later problem to talk to him about. He probably doesn't trust me enough since we don't know each other well.

"Good morning Sin" I replied to him.

"Why don't we go into town for breakfast?"

"Oh, can we go to this cafe that I saw while I was taking a walk with Rissa," I asked him.

"Of course, do you remember the way?"

"Yep," I said as I walked to leave the room.

"Wait!"

Turning to see what Sin needed I realized that he quickly walked over to me and grabbed my hand to hold.

"Ok now let's go," he said to me.

Heating up at his action I soundlessly followed him outside the castle. Our walk to the little cafe was quiet as we soaked in the sun.

Once we got there Sin said, "Why don't you grab us a table while I go order?"

Nodding I asked, "Can you get me those chocolate croissants please?"

"Of course sweetheart," he said, giving me a peck on my forehead.

I grabbed a table in the corner outside so we could have some privacy. I waited a few minutes before Sin came out of the cafe with a waiter pushing a trolley full of food behind him. Sin grabbed a seat as the waiter left the trolley of food right next to our table. Grabbing two plates from the trolley and placing them in front of the two of us as Sin grabbed two glasses of mimosas. He gave me my chocolate croissants and then filled both our plates of different varieties of breakfast food. Taking a bite of the croissant my mouth salivated over the gooey chocolate and the flakey croissant.

"Good" Sin asked me after taking a bite of his food.

Without saying anything I just nodded, taking another bite of the sweet deliciousness.

Finishing my bite I asked Sin "So how far are you with translating the book?"

"Almost I should be done by tomorrow," Sin said, taking a bite of his pancake.

"Did you decide the group who's going to go find the prophet?"

"Yeah, Adonis and I finalized it yesterday. It's going to be everyone but your Alpha Aiden and Darius in case something goes wrong while we go find Abia."

We changed the topic and continued with random conversation getting to know each other better. Almost finishing our food Sinclair's phone started to go off interrupting our conversation. Sin answered the phone and throughout the callus facial expression started to change from carefree to urgent.

Ending the call he said to me "We have to go now."
