The following week Sinclair continued to ignore me and didn't show up to training after our encounter in his office. Adonis took his position as our trainer for the time being to train us every morning. Still confused about why Sinclair was so hot and cold with me, I put all my effort into my training instead of thinking about him.
"Ana works on your defense because you keep your body open to attacks when you are punching your opponent," Adonis said.
I nodded and used his advice for the rest of the training that day. Making sure to keep my defense up as Xavier struck at me. After he couldn't get through my defense I charged at him and pinned him to the ground. Making sure that I kept one of my legs around his throat so he couldn't move I pinned him to the ground for three seconds winning the spar that day.
"Ok, we're done for today. You guys can leave" Adonis said after both Xavier and I got up from the ground dusting ourselves.
"Holy shit these lycans are intense in their training. I can't believe I am saying this but their training plans are actually worse than yours" Xavier said.
I had to agree with Xavier due to the fact we had been training for nine hours straight. We had a few 5-minute breaks in between but other than that it was a no fuck around time during their training.Xavier and I walked back to our rooms to shower the sweat and grime us. Once we were done with our shower we spent our time talking in the common room. Aiden was not with us since he was on prophet duty today. Karisa and I were in charge of the prophet tomorrow since her mother was a witch. As we were talking we heard a knock at our door. I walked up from my seat to open my door to one of the many servants around the castle.
"Miss Kade the king is requesting your presence in his office at fifteen.""Ok," I replied confused.
Sinclair had been avoiding me the past week after our encounter after the meeting. I walked to his office which was on the west wing of the castle. Knocking on his door before entering once he let me.
Standing for a few seconds in awkward silence with the king's back to me I asked "You wanted to see me, King Sinclair."
"Sinclair" he replied.
Not understanding I asked again "What?"
"Call me Sinclair please," he said, turning to me.
Sinclair continued and said "I am sorry for my actions the past week. I could lie and say that I was busy but honestly I was avoiding you."
"Why though?" I asked.
"You reminded me of someone I knew a long time ago. Let's just say he and I didn't leave on good terms" he replied.
Judging by the finality in his tone he wanted to change the topic to something else.

"Is there any other reason you called me into your office today?" I questioned him.
"I will be taking over your pack's training starting again next week. Again I am sorry for how I reacted the other day. I hope we can be friends" Sinclair said.
"Friends. I guess I will see you tomorrow then Sinclair" I said before leaving the room.
As always whenever I was around the handsome king by heart always started to flutter around him. The rest of the day passed quickly before I fell asleep early that night. The next morning I went to the palace's library to meet Karisa. I spotted her long blonde hair sitting in one of the vintage armchairs in the library. Once she spotted me she got up from her seat to greet me.
"Hey thanks for joining me," she said.
"Yeah, I just want to get rid of whatever the black smoke is," I said.
"Same girl" Karisa replied.
"So where do we start," I said looking around the thousands of shelves with books.
"My mother was a witch and my dad was a werewolf but they were mated to each other. Making me a hybrid means that I can do some spells just not the very powerful ones. I can try a locator spell to find the region of something that we can use to find the prophet" Karisa explained.
"Ok. Let's try that" I said to Karisa.
We walked back to a table for her to do the locator spell to find the book. She brought a knife and slit both her palms and then held them together.
"Phasmatos insindia meven. Prophetam fuit secundus Abia. Invenient me." Karisa chanted with her eyes closed.
She then repeated the phrase two more times before opening her eyes and began to drip some of her blood into a cup.
"I don't know how long this will take due to the fact that there are thousands of books collected throughout the last six centuries. We'll just have to wait for it to come to my blood that it is connected to" Karisa said pointed to the cup.
"Was your dad a lycan?" I asked to fill up the time waiting for the book.
"Yeah. My mother was a witch so she was a mortal and my dad being a lycan is immortal. It didn't stop them from falling deeply in love and spending the rest of her life happily before she died. Now my dad just lives in one of the many pack houses as a warrior for the royal pack" she replied.
I smiled at the story and out of curiosity I asked, "Wait if your mom was mortal are you too?""No, my dad's wolf side took dominance so I was born immortal," Karisa said.
"Do you guys ever leave the royal pack?" I queried.
"What are these 20 questions?" Karisa asked laughing.
"Sorry I didn't mean to pry" I replied.

"It's okay, I could really use a girl friend anyway with the number of guys in this house. To answer your question, we can leave but most choose not too" she said.
"Makes sense since I have never seen a lycan before the Wolves conference," I said mostly to myself.
"So I heard you are one of the only female betas in the world. You're kinda famous."
"Honestly I think anyone can be beta if they are strong enough. It is just the sexist werewolf population that stops us, girls, to hold high-ranking spots other than Luna and you get that only by being an alpha's mate" I replied.
Karisa replied "Amen sister."
I laughed and asked "So anyway how did you meet your mate, Leo"
Karisa got this daydreamy look in her eyes and replied "Leo is quite a bit older than me, him being a lycan and all. The Baros twins are 425 years old, Adonis is 575, and Sinclair is 625."
"Wait really," I asked astonished.
"Yep, I know their gramps times ten. Back to how we met, I have known Leo my entire life. Embarrassingly I have had a crush on him forever and when I was little I went around telling everyone that I was going to marry him one day. On my eighteen birthday, it turned out that I was telling the truth since he turned out to be my mate."
"You really manifested that," I said.
"I know right, that's what I tell everyone now. So how about you, do you have a mate?" Karisa asked.
"I got rejected by him. That's kind of how I became the beta of Midnight after I ran away from my old pack."
"I'm sorry I know how much a mate means to a wolf."
"It's ok. I am way better now and have gotten so far without him" I replied.
Before she could answer the blood in the cup started to swirl quickly.
"My magic found the book," Karisa said without looking at me.
She then began to chant "Afferte illum ad me. adducere mihi librum."I looked around to see a worn-out book floating towards us.
Standing I grabbed it and put it on the table.
"Holy shit it actually worked," Karisa said shocked.
Opening it I tried to look through the book,"Of course things wouldn't be this easy. I mean what fucking language is this" I said frustrated.
Karisa looked at it closely and a few seconds later she replied "It's an ancient language even before Sinclair's time. He knows how to read it but it will take time. I'll take the book to him and why don't you go back to your room."
We walked towards the door of the library together and I turned to her and said "I hope we can hang out more. I literally haven't had a girl friend in almost two years."
"Same it's honestly refreshing talking to a female instead of alpha males all the time."
I laughed and gave her a side hug before walking towards my room. Once I got to my room I got ready for training the rest of the day. Today was also the day we had a formal dinner in the dining room with my pack and all the right ranking lycans of the royal pack. Starting to get dressed at about six-thirty for the dinner I wore a glitter gold dress. I curled my hair and put on a glittery eye look with the rest of my makeup to finish getting ready for dinner. The boys had already left since they hadn't taken that long getting ready. Before walking in I saw Karisa about to enter. She was wearing a short satin pink dress that fit her hourglass figure perfectly. Her makeup and hair were both done flawlessly.
"You look gorgeous," we said at the same time.
We giggled and made our way inside for dinner that evening. My eyes immediately went to Sinclair sitting at the head of the table who was wearing a black tux that fit his body perfectly.
"Hi," I said softly to him after I sat down to his right.
He gave me a small smile and replied "Hi sweetheart."
With the nickname, my heart began to flutter once again like usual. My eyes went to the rest of the table who were all eyeing us closely. Heating up a little at all the attention I diverted my eyes to the delicious platter in front of me. My plate was filled with roasted pork ribs glazed with a yummy looking sauce and on the side was a caesar salad. The drink of the night was a red wine that I was guessing was very expensive.
"Since everyone is here we may now begin to eat to celebrate a step closer to ending the black smoke."
The night was filled with laughter and joy with mouthwatering food. We all got to know each other a little better. Sinclair's presence haunted me from the side even though he did not acknowledge me during dinner. He was actually quite during the entire time others were talking. Every now and then I could feel his gaze on the side of my head. Anytime he started to look at me I always had a fight of a blush on my face. The evening was going perfectly but as always the good comes with the bad. I should have known that the evening was going to get ruined somehow. As we finished dinner from the outside we can hear a storm starting to brew. Before we knew it, trees started to fall on the side of the pack lands.
"Oh shit," Aiden said quietly.
"Not again" Darius also said.
And with that, the ground began to shake.
