《Darkened》C H A P T E R 11

It took us almost three days to get to the royal pack in Colorado. As we passed the state borders we neared the snowy mountains. I looked out the window to see small snowflakes falling from the sky. The Midnight pack, located at Angeles National Forest far away from the civilians, never had snow there. Once we got to the royal pack we reached a blockage of treelines and both cars stopped. One of the twins from the other car got out and neared a tree on the side of the road. He put his full hand on the tree and stood there for a second or two before getting back into the car. Confused, I turned my head back to the front to see an invisible barrier glitching.
"Oh my god," Xavier said.
Without a minute passing the glitching stopped to let us see the most beautiful scenery ever.
"Holy shit," Aiden said.
It was like a picture from a fairytale put into reality. We were still high up in the mountains and can look down from where we are. We have to drive a little bit more to get to the community area of the pack. The grandest castle was sitting in the middle of snowy trees that are surrounding it. Light snow was still falling from the sky decorating both the trees and castles. I understand why the Lycans kept us out, to protect their pack. Who wouldn't exploit this pack for its beauty?
It took us about a half-hour to drive towards the castle as the king's car was ahead of us. Once we reached the King, Sinclair immediately left and went inside his home with the twins following quickly behind him. The maids of the house moved us into our suite with three rooms for each of us. Again we were all struck by the enchanting room we were given. An elegant aesthetic with gold accents all around the room.
"I swear to god, we are in a fucking Cinderella movie," Aiden said before he entered his room.
I went into my room to unpack my things. The maids had left our dinner in the kitchen for the three of us to eat. Before we even had time to sit down Aiden was stuffing his face full of food.
I looked at him and in disgust and said "Slow down you pig."
He ignored and continued to eat with food stored in both his cheeks as Xavier and I began to eat.
Aiden finished his food in like ten minutes and said "I was fucking hungry we had to live of crap food for four days."
"Doesn't mean you have to slobber all over your food while the rest of us eat" I replied.

He shrugged nonchalantly."Don't even try Ana, he will never change," Xavier said.
We finished dinner and I put our plates in the sink. I sat back down at the dining table while we drank some herbal tea as we talked for a while.
"How the hell did they do the whole tree thing?" Xavier asked.
"They must have had a witch to do it for them," Aiden said.
"Don't witches hate the lycanthrope species" Xavier replied.
I said, "The witch probably owed the king a favor or the king has a witch loyal to him."
"Probably," Xavier said.
He then went off-topic and asked, "Why the hell do they need us to help them?"
What Xavier said was true as the question was floating on my mind. Why did the lycans need us normal wolves to help them?
"New minds was the only thing that I could think of. They might think that we have new ideas to add on from them" Aiden suggested.
"You're probably right and we are all just overthinking it. Anyway I am going to bed tomorrow, it's going to be a long day" I said to the boys.
I went into my room and laid down on my bed and pulled out my phone from the nightstand. I dialed my parent's number who picked up after a few rings.
"Oh hello darling, I was just cleaning up after dinner. Have you reached the royal pack?" Mom asked.
"Yeah. Mom, you won't believe the view we have. The royal ground is absolutely stunning" I said.
She laughed and said "They have been alive for many generations. They must have preserved its original beauty."
"Mmhm. What have you and dad been up to these past few days?" I asked rolling to find a comfortable position.
Mom replied, "We unpacked our new house and just got adjusted to our new daily lives.""Do you like it at Midnight?" I asked.
"Of course we do. These people here are so nice and they must have a lot of respect for you because they treat us well" she said.
"Aiden, Lukas, Xavier, and I don't like ruling with an iron fist. We kind of just go with the flow and let the other pack members treat us like any other wolf. Other than training no one has to call us by our title. We let the people express their opinion on matters" I said to Mom.
"You all are very different from other packs and that is probably why you are thriving at the top," she said.
I laughed and said "Maybe."
"It must be getting late my darling, you should go to sleep. Pretty sure you are going to have a long day tomorrow. Stay safe and don't get pregnant." Mom said.

"What the hell Mom," I said but before I could continue she hung up on me.
I rolled my eyes in the dark and put my phone on charge on my nightstand before I fell asleep quickly. Waking up that morning I went to the kitchen to have a quick breakfast by myself due to cause that both boys had already left. After munching on my fruit loops I walked out of my room looking for the guys immediately getting lost in the maze of halls. For a while, I wandered the castle aimlessly trying to look for Xavier or Aiden not finding either. Before I could retrace my steps a deep voice stopped me.
"Lost," King Sinclair asked from behind me.
Startled I jumped and stuttered "Um no... just um looking for Aiden and Xavier."
He raised an eyebrow and said, "They are already at the meeting, also where I am headed now."
"Wait, there was a meeting today?" I asked confused.
"Yes. Follow me since we are both headed in the same direction sweetheart" he replied.
Without saying anything he walked past expecting me to follow him. As I followed I realized later that he had called me sweetheart. Again with that nickname, I blushed a little due to it. We walked into a conference room as King Sinclair sat at the head of the table. I looked around to see that the only seat left was beside him. The room was filled with what was probably his trusted advisor. Both of the twins seemed to be present and I also spotted Aiden and Xavier a few seats from me. My knees slightly grazed his and my heartbeat started to raise at the closeness of us.
Unbothered King Sinclair said "Welcome Midnight and my advisors. Due to the unfortunate events of the past few days, we have figured out whatever that black entity is and fast."
"Alpha Knight, Beta Kade, and Head Warrior Adair and official welcome to the royal pack. To your right is the brothers that accompanied me to the Wolves Conference. The twin with the mole on his chin is Leo, and next to him is his mate Karisa both are the gamma male and female. The other twin next to Leo is Darius who is my head warrior. To my side is my brother and beta, Adonis" King Sinclair introduced.
"Now that the introductions are out of the way, let's begin," he said.
Aiden started and said "I noticed that you had a spell to reveal your pack grounds so you must have a witch or warlock on your side. Can't we use him or her to find out what the dark matter is?"
"She isn't alive anymore. She was my mother and died a few years ago" Karisa said.
"Oh shit. I am sorry for your loss" Aiden said. He just made it worse. He could have at least tried to sound remorseful instead of acting like an ass. Sometimes I wonder why the hell he is my best friend.
Adonis said "Anyway after my brother told me about the anonymity I did some research on it. There is a prophet, Abia has been alive longer than most people. She most likely has the answer to the black smoke problem is she can't be found."
"We have centuries of books in the library and we will find it in one of those" Darius countered back.
King Sinclair had a thoughtful look and said "Yes we do. I will put all scholars onto that then we will find the location of this prophet faster."
King Sinclair continued "If this doesn't work then we will come up with something after for now, this is the plan. Training starts tomorrow morning at 6."
With that said he got up from his seat and dismissed everyone.
"Ana holds up for a minute," King Sinclair said before I left the conference room.
"Yes?" I asked him.
"For training, I will personally look over yours and your pack members' lessons," he said.
Confused I asked "Ok but why did you ask me to stay. You could have asked Aiden who is the alpha."
Without saying anything he pushed me against the wall trapping me between his body. His arms on both sides of my body preventing me from moving out of his hold. For a few seconds we both stared into each others eyes before he brought his face down towards the crook of my neck and sniffed. Sinclair looked like he was contemplating something in his head as he nuzzled his head on my shoulder. In a flash he jumped from me as if I had shocked him with a frightened look on his face. Immediately he masked his emotions and made a neutral face. What the hell?
"You were the closest to me so don't think too much into it. You may now leave" he said coldly.
I turned and left the conference room leaving King Sinclair by himself in there. What the just happened in there?
Confused by his actions I walked to my room to get some time to myself. Why did the king of werewolves look frightened as if I was the enemy?
