《Her Betrayal》Chapter- 28

Ryan's POV
I kept looking at my phone, expecting her call at any moment when my doorbell rang. Getting up I quickly opened the door to see Bri.
"Bri? Come in." I wasn't expecting her. I had that he would call once she leaves.
"I was waiting for your call." I walked in after her.
"I am sorry but I wanted to speak face to face." She looked at me apologetically.
"Come on, there's nothing to be sorry about. You want some water?" I offered to which she nodded. Passing her a glass of water I sat down opposite her impatiently waiting for her to speak .
"Did she speak up?" I questioned, my patience thinning out. She sighed before nodding.
"She did."
........................
"Do you need any help?" I asked looking at Bri in the kitchen. Both of us were hungry when she volunteered to make us some sandwiches.
"No, I will manage." I kept staring at her. The sight of her cooking in our kitchen was giving me a strange happiness. I could imagine myself cooking in the kitchen together and laughing and stealing occasional kisses.
"Woah!" I turned back and murmured to myself realising that staring at her was messing my mind.
"Here." She handed me a plate and sat down opposite me. I kept observing each of her actions like how she plopped down on the sofa like a kid to how her eyes widened slightly on taking a bite of the sandwich, as if she was appreciating her own cooking and honestly, I was finding everything cute about her. I shook my head at that. Something definitely was not right with me.
"You don't like it?" She asked, most probably noticing me shaking my head.
"No, I do. It's very tasty." She nodded though she didn't look convinced.
"So , you got the voice clip?"
"I did. It's in here." I showed her my phone.
.....................
Evan's POV
I shut my laptop off and massaged my forehead. Two whole weeks had passed already and still her words rang in my ears just as fresh. On top of that Bri's accusation on Kate.

I want to believe Brae but at the same time I can't think of Kate in that light. She supported me through my tough times , stuck to me when I was down and now suddenly how can I throw her away based on some allegations that too when Brae herself isn't saying a word. All she does is push me away.
I didn't know what to believe anymore.
I went into the kitchen to drink some water.
"Evan, we need to talk." I slammed the glass on the counter, some water spilling out of it.
"What? Now what?" I was always in the worst of my mood these days all thanks to that one woman.
"You sound like someone pissed in your mouth." I exhaled deeply and glared at him.
"Okay, okay I am sorry. I came to give you the proof that you wanted."
"Proof?"
"You mean you got proof that Kate blackmailed Brae into all of this?"
"Wow you understood! So fast? I am impressed." He faked admired causing me to roll my eyes at him.
"Well then give it. Proof?" He brought his phone out of his pocket and pressed play on some audio.
"Ah, isn't it the sweet little Brielle?" Kate's voice rang out.
"We need to talk." It was Bri.
"I don't remember anything that I would like to discuss with you." She sounded bored.
"But I do. Why are you doing this?"
"I don't understand. What are you talking about?" I looked at Ryan who was staring at the floor, his hands clasped together.
"Don't act, Kate. You very well know what I am talking about. You had separated Brae and Evan for all these years and even now you're making them suffer." As soon as Bri finished speaking, Kate's loud laughter rang out.
"I didn't separate them sweetheart. Brae herself did. She is suffering because she is stupid and as for Evan, he isn't suffering now. He doesn't need your stupid sister when I am there for him." Well, that didn't sound so normal!

"Brae isn't stupid and you're stupid to think that Evan is happy, that he has moved on. He can never be happy without Brae." I looked into the space waiting for the conversation to proceed.
"Try as hard as you can. At the end of the day, they will find their way back to each other because their love is that strong." Hardly did Brielle let those words out when Kate snapped at her.
"They won't! He can be happy. I will make him happy. He will fall in love with me and together we will be happy!" I clenched my jaws , anger consuming me at the thought of what she had done to separate us.
"You had three years. What happened? Did Evan fall in love with you?"
"Don't shout at me." She yelled, unable to give a proper answer.
"Why are you doing this? Why are you threatening her? They love each other. Why can't you just let them be?" I was anticipating her answer.
"Because I love him ! And Brae deserves this for interfering in our lives. She shouldn't have been there in the first place and Evan would have been mine." I so wanted to rip her head off her shoulder. How stupid she was to think that I was going to be her's?
"You - you don't even sound normal."
"Just shut up. It seems to me that you're stupider than your sister. You're charging me in my office when I can destroy you like that?" I closed my eyes and breathed hard through my nose to control the anger.
"Leave. Right now."
"One day you are going to get back what you deserve for doing all this ."
"Damn right she will get it back! I will fucking destroy her." I smashed the lamp against the wall, breaking it into numerous pieces.
"Evan-"
"How dare she ? How dare she fucking threaten Brae? How dare she fucking separate us and act like she is my biggest supporter? Friend my ass!" I couldn't feel anything other than rage, extreme rage and I wanted to burn Kate in that. She pretended to heal me when she was the one to deliver me the hurt.
"Calm down brother, calm down. " Ryan grabbed me by my arm and turned towards him.
"Breathe. Calm down and take a deep breath, okay?" I nodded and after he realised I was calmer than before, he left my hand. I propped myself down on the sofa .
"I can't believe she could do this and act innocent all along. She separated us for her so-called love for me. Fucking unbelievable!" The feeling of betrayal was tearing me apart. The one whom I trusted so much to be my support in those was the one who caused my sufferings.
"Bitch. That's all she is." Ryan made a disgusted face.
"I missed spending three damn years of my life with Brae. We would have been a family if she didn't break our marriage off. " I put my head in my hands thinking over everything.
"You know I realised something just now." I looked at him to see him staring at the ground.
"What?" I raised a brow.
"That not a single thing is going to be there in your house in the near future if you continue to thrash them to vent out your frustrations." I stared at him with a poker face before picking up the cushion and aiming it at him.
"Fuck you!" I shouted at him.
"Never. I am not into incest." He said with a very serious expression. I gritted my teeth in annoyance. His sarcastic remarks were the last thing I was in the mood for.
"Don't fucking joke!" I threatened.
"Okay, okay, calm down. I won't." He made a gesture of sealing his lips.
"Where are you going?" He asked as I shot up from the sofa.
"To talk to Brae." I took my car keys and jacket.
"Now?"
"Now and be gone till the time I get back." I hurried out of the house.
