Luke had waited for Winter to finish showering after the fight. She walked out and bumped almost right into him.

"You did well." He smirked.

"Thank you." She answered.

"The boys are celebrating among the crowd, do you want to join them or get out of here?" He asked.

Winter was silent for a couple of minutes.

"We can go somewhere else." Luke said.

His eyes lingered on her.

"Okay." Winter replied.

He grabbed her hand and walked with her towards the kitchen. He grabbed a couple of beers and pulled her further. They took a long staircase and as Luke pushed the door open, Winter fell silent.

They stood on top of the building, she saw a beautiful view of the town and the surrounding nature. She sighed in contentment and walked behind Luke. He stopped and took a seat, she took place next to him. He handed her a bottle and smiled as they toasted.

"On your first fight". Luke said with a smile.

Winter smiled back and took a sip from the bottle. In silence they looked over the town.

"So, is this were you take all your conquests?" she asked.

A loud laugh boomed from his chest.

"In the short time you have been a rogue, have you met many rogue females?" he asked.

"No, but you are hardly a rogue." She answered.

"Why not?" "For starters how long have you been in this place?" she asked.

Luke was silent for a couple of minutes.

"5 years." He answered.

"Isn't that the definition of a rogue wolf, a lone wolf? They are known to never settle down, to always move on." Winter studied him.

"To be ruthless, wicked and vindictive. And yet you two welcomed me with open arms." She snickered.

Luke sighed "We didn't choose to leave the pack."

Winter placed her head on his shoulder.

"I always wanted something else for Jack than this life. And as we started here the guys just became part of our life."

"You know I don't judge you. I think it's great what you guys build here." Winter said.

"Yeah, but there are times that it feels as if something is missing." Luke said and looked down at her.

"What was your pack like?" he asked.

Winter looked down in her lap and took a big gulp from her bottle.

"That bad?" he asked.

"Let's just say that if I would lead a pack I would do it differently."

"You have thought about leading a pack?"

He looked curious at her, that was not a common thought amongst wolves. Most wolves just lived the pack life never thinking about the rules or what could be better.

"Can I trust you?" she asked.

"Like really trust you?"

"Have I given you reason not too? I even backed you up against Jack." He answered with a smile.

"Promise you won't tell anybody not even Jack."

He nodded his head, curious as what she was about to say.

"Maybe it's better if I show you."

Winter focused on her wolf

'Show him our alpha side.' She commanded.

Luke suddenly felt the change in power, he looked at the girl next to him. She radiated power, not just power but it felt like the power of a really strong alpha. Probably the strongest alpha he had ever met.

"You have alpha blood." He said looking startled at her.

Winter nodded her head as she turned her power off.

"Why would you leave your pack if you have alpha blood?" he asked and studied her again.

A tear rolled of Winter's cheek.

"Does it have something to do with the scar? Jack forced you to go without a shirt, didn't he?"

"It's partly because of it and partly because I couldn't live with the decisions of our alpha."

Winter tried to smile to hide her true feelings.

"You know you don't have to pretend with me." Luke said.

He gently brushed a strain of hair out her face.

"Promise you won't tell anybody." She softly said.

"I won't." he said.

She couldn't tell him about Charlie that would hurt her too much.

"My father hurt me a lot, causing a crack in our family. He wasn't treating the pack right." Tears welled up in her eyes.

"I looked how he died, I could have helped him but he had just hurt me too much. I couldn't bring myself to it. I thought it was better with him gone."

Luke was silent, he didn't know what to say. His father would never hurt his sons he would do everything to protect them. So, he did what he thought would comfort her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pulling her close to his body.

"There you guys are!"

Luke and Winter still sat together looking out over the city. They turned around to see Jack walking up to them.

"I was looking everywhere for my newest fighter."

He said with a smile and took place next to Winter. He saw that his brother was engaged in a serious conversation.

"Am I interrupting something?" he asked.

"Yes." Winter replied, she heard Luke snicker next to her.

"I know you don't mean it." He said with a smile.

Jack handed them all a new beer.

"Are you trying to get me drunk?" Winter answered with a smile.

"Maybe, I need a jump start on Luke. He has been charming your pants off."

Luke sighed. She knew she needed to put a stop to this, she was in no way ready to sleep with a man and she just wasn't ready to pull the lit of her pain.

"Not to put a stop on your party, but I am waiting for my mate." Winter said.

Both men looked shocked at her

"Seriously?" Jack asked.

"Yeah, don't get your hopes up. You are not it." She said with a smile.

Winter turned to Luke.

"I hope that wasn't your intention as well?"

He studied her face and eyes.

"When you stepped in the bar it was my only intention. But talking to you made me realize that I respect you too much for just sleeping with you."

"Thank you."

Winter responded as she placed her head against his shoulder. Jack eyed his brother jealous.

"You know there are other things we can do." Jack said with a wicked grin.

"I can perfectly take care of myself, but thanks for offering." She winked at him.

"When do you plan on leaving us?" Jack asked.

"I have not decided yet." She answered.

"You know you can always stay. Most of the guys have a room in the pit. You can have one as well."

Winter thought about it, she planned on staying in the compound, alone and by herself. Giving her a chance to heal and move on.

"I'll think about it." She answered.

"I hope you do, you brought in so much money tonight."

He said with a loud laugh, Luke snickered.

"I thought you didn't want her to fight?" he said.

"Yeah, yeah you were right. Do you want to do another one?" he asked.

"I plan on doing two more. One like this, surprising my wolf just reeling up the crowd. And then one where we can make some real money."

The boys were silent for a moment.

"Wait what?" Jack said.

"By the third fight your spectators will be so curious about me. Let them bet on everything, the color of my fur, how fast I can turn, when I will turn. I promise you will make a ton of cash." She said with a smirk.

"You are just full of surprises, aren't you?"

The next couple of days Winter settled in the compound, mostly training and exploring the building. She prepared herself for the next fights. She knew that Jack would up her opponent and make a bit of advertisement about the next fights. She just hoped it wouldn't reach her brothers.

Winter felt a pang in her chest as she thought back to her brothers. She quickly tossed those feelings aside and walked out to find Thomas. In the few days Winter had stayed here it became a habit to drink a cup of coffee in the morning together.

She walked over with coffee and a stack of pancakes towards the middle of the fields. It was still freezing and it would start to snow again anytime. But Winter didn't mind, she loved the snow and the cold.

She made her way over towards the small table in the middle of the field. The soil cracked on her feet from the frost. Thomas was already seated at the table and she took a seat in front of him.

She greeted him with a big smile.

"Morning."

"Morning." He smiled back.

"You made pancakes?" he asked.

"Nana's favorite." She said with a soft smile.

"She would be proud of the women you have become."

Winter stared over the field, she doubted that. If her Nana knew she was fighting for money, she wouldn't be pleased at all. Not the behavior of a true alpha she would say. A soft smile played over her lips.

"Why did you let her leave?" Winter suddenly asked.

"Because I loved her." Thomas answered.

She looked confused at the old man.

"The alpha that claimed her was verry powerful, he challenged me for her."

Tears started to form in his eyes.

"But as we weren't part of a pack, your Nana feared that I wouldn't survive. That if I killed him, the rest of his wolves would kill me. So she went away without my knowledge, she left with him to save my life. What she didn't know was that both our lives would become miserable without the other."

Winter looked over the fields, trying to understand why she did what she did.

"You have to be careful Winter, you are blessed with the same beauty as she was. Man will always want you."

She looked down at her fingers, the one man she had wanted didn't.

"You will find him." Thomas said.

"It may hurt now but you will find him. Your true mate, you will find him."
