Chapter 20

~M

I run up the stairs holding my dress high so I don't trip. God I hope he's in there, I run the corner and race to our bedroom.

Why is my pulse racing? Why are my palms sweating? Why do I have this uncontrollable desire to see him?

I burst open the door to see him standing next to the window in all his glory. He turns around surprised and then spots me and sucks in a sharp breath. I don't even pause for a minute to take know his black tux fits every curve and angle of his body.

I just run to him, I swing my arms around his neck and he laces his around my waist. He buries his head into my neck and breathes in my scent like an addict.

I gently play with the ends of his hair as his fingers softly snack across my back. His other arm holding me tight with an iron grip.

The burning electricity that runs down my skins under his touch makes me shudder.

"It's the bond," he whispers to me as he nuzzles further into my neck.

"Yeah, I know," I say quietly with a nod, running my fingers along his back. He's trying to explain the reason I ran so fast to him, why I couldn't breath.

"It's because we haven't mated," he adds and again I nod.

He chuckles at my timidness as I latch onto him, inhaling his sent like its the first time I smelt it.

He gently moves me to an arms length so he can look at me. His gaze pours into mine and I realize how much I missed his blue orbs. How much I missed him in general.

He holds my cheek for a moment before leaning in and placing his lips on mine.

Gentle at first as if testing to see if I was really there with him, then passionate as I tug on his hair again and he holds me tight.

His tongue traces my bottom lip and he squeezes my ass to insure I would open my mouth letting his dominate.

Which I did gladly to be in his warm gold and kissing his talented lips.

His hands roaming my back side as I melt into his hold, and he presses his knee between my thighs and I press into him more.

More. That's what I wanted. I moan as he shifts his knee harder against me, and I begin to move my hands to his chest. I begin to unbutton his shirt and try to shove off the suit before he pulls away. Making me whine a complaint.

He's really gonna stop it now?

He softly smiles almost reading my thoughts. "We better head to the party before I jump you right now," he says and grasps my hand.

"Jump me?" I repeat with a smile, liking the idea

"yeah, that look your giving me makes me want to do nothing more than carry you onto that bed and claim what's mine. But I have a party to get to," he says and nips my ear.

I jump in surprised and he chuckles quietly, "Plus dressed like that," he looks me up and down before his now darker blue eyes look at me.

"I would love to see how that dress would look like on the floor," he adds.

I blush lightly under his intense gaze and roll my eyes trying to hide my desire for him to follow up with that offer.

"Come on," he chuckles and holds my hand tight as we race down the hall way to the ball room.

We sneak into the kitchen while the cooks are rushing around shouting orders and waiters bring out plates full of food. Since its a ball there is no sit down meal

But there is enough food out on side tables to make a full course meal.

"This is fancy," I mumble and grab a couple of colorful looking food as Luke drags me into the ball room. We calmly enter hoping that it goes unnoticed and we did until a loud voice booms across the room.

"Lukas, Sophia, glad you could join us," Luke's dad calls over to us and all heads turn to Luke and I, we smile at the guests that attempt to talk to us as we try to cross the glittering room.

once we reach the small group of obviously powerful wolves Luke's mom, Martha, greats us with bear hugs, "Sophia you look beautiful!" she says and examines my dress and hair.

"Thank you," I say politely noticing the unfamiliar people around me, they look too well groomed for my liking.

"I was wondering when you two were gonna show up, and now I see the cause for your delay," Martha says with a playful smile on her lips, reminding me how honest werewolves are about their sexual activity. I mean we have to be naked to shift.

I quickly glance at the blonde beauty in front of me wither her long elegant purple dress that glides down her frame. It bewilders me how this woman looks more like Luke's sister than mother.

"Sophia this is the governor of the town and his wife, the Johnsons," Alpha says and I lock eyes with a pepper haired, well fit man, in his late 40s, dressed in a grey suit, and his wife who is around the same age with a wider figure and a calculating expression. Human. Their human.

I shake each of their extended hands and smile, "Nice to meet you," I say and they say similar greetings.

"So how long have you and Luke known each other?" Mrs. Johnson asks in a small yet direct voice, like she is used to being back ground noise.

"Two mo-"

"About two years now, she was traveling from Britain when we met," Luke answers pressing me closer into him. I let him take over the conversation and just observe has he talks politics and money. Things he never once mentioned he knew so much about.

"Sophia!" I hear a certain brat shout my name and here his foot steps run towards me. I whip around just in time to catch him in my arms as he jumps up onto me.

"Aren't you to old to do that?" I ask and grunt as he squirms out of my hold.

"I was hopping it would knock you over," He says honestly with a calculating expression trying to figure out why it didn't work. I just chuckle at him as Luke's arm wraps around my waist again.

"Hey aren't you supposed to be out back with the rest of the kids?" Luke says teasing.

Jason just glares at him before turning back towards me, "I saw your friends earlier, they seem nice," Jason says and he nods his head towards the left side of the room where Oliver it being cornered by woman and Jasmine it laughing at him.

I look down at Jason confused as too why he told me that, "Oh don't let us waste all you time, do be with your friends," Martha says and shoos us away.

I try to hide my relief as I say my good byes to the rich and privileged. Then turn to Jason and pat him on the head, he was trying to help us get away from the politic talk, god this kid is great. "Thank you Jason," I whisper before I am whisked away to Jasmine and Oliver.

"Any time," He replies with a cocky head nod and I roll my eyes at him.

"Hey! how is it going?" I ask as I near them causing Oliver's gang of woman to disperse.

"Awful."

"Awesome."

They say at the same time and I chuckle at Oliver's pissed off state. Luke coughs from behind me and I roll my eyes at him.

"Luke this is Oliver. Oliver, Luke," I say quickly noticing the rise of testosterone in the air.

"Alpha," Oliver says respectfully and bows, as I hold my breath when luke simples nods his head at Oliver. Luke probably recognizes his scent from when we had that fight.

"Luke this is Jasmine. Jas-"

"I know," he says and she bows respectfully enjoying my confusion.

"He knows my mate," she explains seeing Luke wasn't going too.

There is a moment of awkward silence before Jasmine speaks, "So how did those humans make their way into this thing?" she asks referring to the Johnsons.

"Governor," I answer and she nods her head. This pact isn't really a human friendly pact, they think that such weak beings don't belong in such a cruel world. It is just extra work to try and protect the human world.

The conversations goes just about everywhere before the Alpha calls me and Luke over to meet more politicians.

"Well that was.... Fun," I say trying to find the right word to describe socializing with the upper class of the pack.

They weren't rude, but it was like a different world I have never seen before.

"Fun, ha." Luke retorts and opens the bathroom door as I casually sit on the end he of the bed taking off my earrings and shoes.

"I didn't know you were such a good rich kid," I say and he pokes his head out of the bath room.

"A what?"

"A rich kid. you know, the ones that talk up mommy and daddy's friends to make sure they stay friends, and get connections," I say and place my earning on the side table.

"Well I have been groomed for this life," He says and goes back into the bath room.

I silently chuckle, that's right I forgot he was groomed. He is from a rich family, raised to be the beneficiary of this land and money and pack. He was grinned for this.

"I couldn't imagine what it would be like if my pack was still around," I shout at him so he can hear me from the bathroom.

He stays silent but the running sink water stops. I play with the lace of my dress and glance at the wall finding a small piece of it to study as I spoke.

"I wouldn't be who I am and I'm not sure if that is something to be grateful for. I know that I would be different but would I be for the better or worse. Ya know?" I continue as I hear his foot steps come closer towards the bed.

"I bet I would be more like you in a way, more well trained, more fluid in social situations. But I wonder if I would be as happy as you are, would I butt heads with my mom and my dad?" I tear my eyes from that spot on the wall as I feel a warm hand against my cheek and chin.

I turn to look up at him and study the bags forming under his eyes. Study the wrinkles setting in around the mouth from too much smiling for the night. I study his thick hair that shines like a bright halo around his head and I trace his curved cheek bone as it defines his deeply set eyes.

"Now that I think about it. Your just a very happy person, so maybe we are to different for that to happen," I finish and he knees down in front of me.

He just stares for a moment before taking a deep breath without breaking eye contact.

"Sophia Frost, you are the reason I am so damn happy," he says and gives a soft, genuine smile.

"So no matter who you are or would have been. I would still love you as much as I do now. What happened to your pack is a nightmare for any wolf and it put you through a lot. But yea I believe it helped define you as a wolf and you are one hell of a wolf," he says earning a small smile to escape my lips.

"I have already come to peace with what happens to my pack, minus the whole revenge scheme I plan a little at a time everyday, but I think I'm healing even more with you here. Encouraging me like this," I say as my grin grows, and gently kiss his lips.

"I love you," I say as I pull back.
