Chapter 15

~M

"Luna, I believe that Alpha would like you back soon," Mrs. Crystal says as she steps into the back yard. She looks around the fence and raises her eyebrows trying holds back a laugh.

Willow and Oliver are one either side of the net with the kids divided in half. Playing volleyball. The both of them panting from running around trying to beat the other ignoring the presence of the kids.

"Oh my. I really do hate to interrupt the fun," Mrs. Crystal states but walks over to the dirt covered Luna.

I glance over at her and clearly see the seriousness in her eye that doesn't transfer to her voice. She can be a scary woman and begin to gather my things. Jasmine and Oliver walk with me to get my things from the chair by the gate.

"Bye Luna!" Jennifer shouts and waves. I wave back at her and the other kids chime in saying their goodbyes.

"Bye. see you soon. Bye," I shout.

"If you need anything. We're here," Jasmine says hugging me tight then walks back to the kids to supervise. "Your very easy to talk to you remind me of my mate," she finishes with a small giggle.

I give her a small smile at her generous offer.

I know that she will be there for me if I needed someone, but I feel like if I need to go shopping or something she is the person to go to. Besides that...

Oliver waits for Jasmine to walk away before letting out a sigh.

"You gonna be okay?" He asks shoving his hands into his pockets.

"We'll see," I say and shrug because I'm truly not sure what will happen. I just need to tell Luke what I think and hope it goes well.

"Well, I'll see you around," I say, but before I could walk away he wraps his arms around me and holds them there tight keeping me in his embrace.

"Let that man know that he has the best mate a man could ask for and if he doesn't realize it, then make this clear to him: I will steal you away." Olivier says.

I freeze for a moment, not by his words or his actions, by his scent that is so familiar, so comforting.

I hug him back, and squeeze a handful of his shirt.

"What about your mate?" I ask.

I can practically feel his smile as he says, "In anther world. In another life. At a different time. We probably were mates." He says.

I remember some stories my mother used to tell me, where mates of past lives meet again in their current loves and become close friends but never mates. That's what we will most likely be.

I smile and pull out of the hug, "but now we're not and I have mine." I say and I feel my wolf stir inside me.

My wolf is distant, she doesn't talk to me and often doesn't bother to take control. But I feel her emotions, and some times I need to know more that just that. I need her to talk to me.

That's usually the biggest problem I have with her.

I faze out of my daze as I wave goodbye to Oliver and Jasmine. I know if I honestly have problems with Luke I will come to Oliver for advise instead of Jasmine. Because he is something I didn't expect a Rogue like me to find.

A best friend. A brother figure. And a past life's mate.

I stay silent as Mrs. Crystal escorts me out of the backyard back to the pack house.

We don't speak because she knows I don't want to explain myself, or tell her if I had a change of heart. And I know she doesn't want me to tell her the answer to those questions, she wants me to tell Luke.

She stops in front of the back door and turns around before seeing if I went in or not. It's her way of saying 'I did all I could do. Now that there is no one to stop you, will you run?'

And my respond is the shutting of the back door with me inside, my way of saying, 'No.'

I climb the stairs to Luke's bedroom and open the door to find him putting cloths into his bag. He looks up upon my entrance.

I glance around the room and spot a digital clock on the bed side table, I've been gone for 4 hours.

"Hey, sorry I got caught up in work. But I heard that you were with the orphan kids. That's pretty cool I didn't know you knew them.." As his voice continues I muster up what little courage I had and say "Luke. We need to talk."

Luke

"Talk?" I ask and I stand up taken by surprise. She never wants to talk. She wants to pretend something never happened, never confront the issue.

"Yes talk." She says and walks over to the bed in front of me. She keeps this calm and composed air around her as I move my bag off the chair so I can sit in it.

"Okay, let's talk," I say unsure. It's almost scary how serious she is. I then take notice the mud marks on her cloths and body. I am about to chuckle at her playful attitude when I smell her scent. And another scent mixed with hers.

I take a deep breath to try and identify the scent without letting her know of my suspicions.

I take one me sniff and then cringe my nose, she smells like a male wolf. One that has been around her, closely.

What the fuck?!

She smells of sweat and an unmated wolf!

Is this what she has been doing when she disappears or when I'm working?

Is she gonna leave me? Is she cheating on me?

"Look, Luke, I don't really know how to say this but I really wanna make sense of how I feel and I need to be able to talk about it-" She begins but I interrupt her.

"Why do you smell likes male wolf?" I ask abruptly.

She pauses and looks at me bewildered.

"Excuse me?" She asks.

"Why do you smell like an unmated male wolf?" I repeat trough gritted teeth.

"Luke that's not important-"

"I sure as hell think it is." I say raising my voice.

Sophia knits her eyebrows together, with an annoyed look.

"That doesn't matter right now. I'm trying-"

"I want you to answer my question before you go on," I say and stand up, she does the same.

"Why can't you just let me finish?"

"Because I want my question answered first."

"If you would just let my finish-"

"I want to know before you go on and on about how you feel." I snap and her checks become an angry red tint.

"So how I feel isn't important?"

"That's not what I am saying!"

"Then what are you saying?!"

"Sophia just calm down,"

"I am calm, you are the one that started this. I was willing to talk to-"

"I know. I know."

"No Luke, you don't-"

"I get that you want to talk but unless it's about why you-"

"Luke please I-"

"- wreak if another man then I don't want to hear it."

"Luke please I-"

"Sophia-"

"LUKE I WAS RUNNING AWAY!"

I stop. My palms begin to feel clamy and my mouth feels dry. I thought she was happy. I always did everything I could. Why would she run.

"What?" I ask as I struggle not to let my wolf go lose from anger.

"I was leaving you,"
