《Forced Enemies》Chapter Forty Three

I'm guessing the mission was longer than he expected.

I was waiting on the couch, the smell of smoke still in the air from earlier today.

I took a deep sigh, closing my eyes as I tried to push past my memories; my feelings.

What happened before I was almost killed ruined me; changed me.

But I needed to be strong. The war between the Russians and us is a big deal, and I can't let this get to me.

I was thankful for Kye saving me. And I will forever be thankful to him, for saving my life.

So that's why I still sit here, because he saved me. Because I love him.

I fiddled with my fingers, my gaze fixed on the window, --that was viewing the driveway-- my eyes searching for the shine of Kye's truck.

But nothing had come. Not even a twitch of a branch, or a sound that indicated that he was near.

Sleep hit me so quickly that I didn't know when I hit the couch pillow, my eyes closing as I let the sleep overcome me.

That was until I felt someone's hands lift me up, and I was held against a hard chest.

I opened my eyes, starring at his bloody bruised face, his jaw tight and his gaze hard as he walked to the bedroom.

"Kye?" I whispered out, and those hard eyes landed on me, sending a chill to my bone.

He didn't say anything as he looked straight ahead again, the darkness of the hallway covering his face as we reached our bedroom.

He gently placed me on the bed, and I looked up at him as he grabbed the blanket and put it over my body.

"Can you talk to me?" I asked suddenly, and he just paused, looking down at my now covered body.

He took a deep breath and kissed my forehead, walking to the bathroom and turning on the shower.

I squinted my eyes in confusion, quickly grabbing the blanket and pulling it off of me.

I hesitated for a moment when I watched him get in the shower, fully naked.

He grabbed the shampoo bottle and applied some to his head, foaming the substance around his hair.

I watched as the water washed the blood away, making the floor beneath a deep red as it rushed to the drain.

"What happened?" I asked, and he placed the bottle back onto the shelf.

"Nothing," he hissed out, the hot water hitting his back as he washed the shampoo out.

I crossed my arms and took a deep breath, completely frustrated with him.

"Can you please talk to me," I said calmly. "Tell me what happened."

I watched as he rinsed out the rest of his conditioner, also rinsing off the soap that he had put on his body.

I closed my eyes, letting the frustration take over me.

"Fine-" I spat out, "don't talk to me."

I walked back into the room, harshly shutting the light off and putting the blankets over me.

I didn't look at him when he walked into the room, changing into his pajamas.

I felt him hesitate as I felt the bed dip, and then he got under the covers with me.

"Aliyah," he whispered out, and I didn't answer.

"Please-" I heard him sigh, "I just-"

I finally rolled over, sitting up on my elbows as I looked at him, anger on my face.

"You would think after everything we have been through, you would trust me." I scoffed. "But you don't."

"I trust you," he said quickly. "Today has been-" he looked off at the floor in front of us, closing his eyes as he took a deep breath.

"It's worse than we thought," he told me. "He's really trying to look for you, all of them are."

"What do you mean?" I asked. "What happened?"

He took another deep breath.

"When we went into the underpass," he started. "Your name was written hundreds of times over the walls, in blood."

He squeezed the bed sheets tight.

"Ton's of people were dead beside it, and the wall was painted with their blood."

I grabbed a hold of his arm and pulled him to me, hugging him tight as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"You're not safe," he whispered in my ear. "I don't know what I would do without you."

"Well don't think about it," I whispered back. "Because I'm not going anywhere."

He only pulled me closer, his face nuzzled into the crook of my neck.

"You'll find him," I told him, now straddling his lap, my cheek pressed to the top of his head.

He nodded, giving a quick kiss on my neck.

"Whatever you do," he told me. "Don't ever leave this house."

I nodded, shivering as he moved his hands down lower, cupping my ass harshly as he kissed my neck more.

"Promise me," he muttered against my skin.

I moaned quietly, his hands pushing me further into him.

"I promise," I whispered out, and he groaned in approval.

I gave him a kiss on the head before pulling away, watching as his eyes darkened looking at me.

"You're tired." I said to him, and he nodded.

He rolled over so that way he cadged me in, his arms wrapped around me, my body tight against his.

"Goodnight my love," he said while yawning, giving me a quick kiss on the lips.

"Goodnight," I smiled, snuggling up close to him, his body warmth heating up my cool skin.

"I love you," I whispered out.

"I love you too."
