My girl lays on my chest fast asleep and I sigh, looking up at the ceiling. I look back down at the angel and smile.
She is literally my life. I don't know what I would do without her.
Enzo walks into the bedroom and looks at the two of us.
"She's still asleep? It's nearly the afternoon." He whispers and I shrug, not wanting to wake her up if she's still tired. Enzo leans down to kiss her on the forehead and then tells me that he's going to the club.
Elodie begins to stir awake and I smile.
"Killian." She croaks and I hum, stroking her back.
"I'm here, baby." I whisper and her eyes open.
After a few minutes of her being awake she gets up from the bed and begins to rush around. I watch with wide eyes as she goes into the bathroom and begins to have a shower.
Without me!
Eventually she emerges from the bathroom and throws her clothes on and then her shoes.
What the hell is she doing?
"I'm off out." She says and then leaves the bathroom.
I look at her retreating body in shock.
I jump up from the bed and rush after her.
"Elodie!"
The front door slams shut and I run a stressful hand through my hair. I open the door and look around the driveway but she's already gone — how the hell was she so fast and where the fuck has she gone?
Now I begin to panic.
I walk back into the house and call her but my jaw clenches when I hear her phone begin to ring. She's fucking left her phone here.
I hear a giggle behind me and see Elodie crouched over, probably laughing at my stressed state.
"You think this is funny?" I raise my eyebrows, trying to hold back my smile at how cute she looks. "Baby, you scared the shit out of me!"
"I'm going to visit the orphanage I lived in. Do you want to come?" She questions and I nod my head.
I will literally do whatever this girl wants to do.
This time I'm the one rushing around getting ready as Elodie waits for me in the living room. I scramble to get my shoes on and my girl watches in amusement as I trip over air.

"Shut up." I playfully roll my eyes and she scoffs, hitting me on the side of my head. "Hey!"
"Come on, Killian!"

"It never used to be like this when I lived here." Elodie whispers as we look at the renovated building. She holds the box of cookies that she got for the children close to her chest as she looks on with wide eyes. "I hope they are all treated well."
My heart aches for my girl, knowing she had a rough time here.
We walk through the entrance and are greeted by a kind looking old woman.
I know she's not Mrs Brown, considering the old hag is now dead.
"I-I brought some cookies for the kids here." Elodie whispers kindly and I wrap my arm around her waist. The old lady looks at me with wide eyes and then at Elodie.
We probably look like an odd couple to her.
I couldn't give a shit.
"That is very lovely of you." The woman smiles, taking the box from Elodie's hands.
"I used to live here." She whispers and I bite my lip as she fidgets nervously, looking around the home. "Is Mrs Brown around?" I furrow my eyebrows at her question.
"Oh no, honey. That lady passed away a couple months back." Elodie gasps and looks up at me with wide eyes. I shrug my shoulders.
"Oh okay. Well thank you for telling me, we'll be on our way now." Elodie says and walks out with her head hanging down.
Please tell me she didn't want to see the woman that practically abused her.
We get back into my car and sit in silence before Elodie breaks it.
"I was going to forgive her. For the way she treated me." She whispers nervously, playing with her fingers in her lap. "I know you probably think it's stupid but everything happens for a reason. I'm happy with you and Enzo now, I don't feel the need to hold grudges."
"Fucking hell, you're better than me. That's all I can say. I could never forgive my parents for the way they abandoned me." I admit and Elodie nods her head.
"And that's okay. Doesn't make you a bad person." She smiles gently and grabs hold of my hand, placing it on her lap. "Mrs Brown, she wasn't a nice woman and even though I knew she treated me differently from the other kids I just chose to ignore it. She let those men hurt me at night, she let me starve some nights and I know I shouldn't forgive her but I do because now I'm happier than ever."

"I hate her for what she did to you but I promise I will do my best to make you happy." I tighten my hand around hers and she smiles. "My beautiful sunflower." I wiggle my eyebrows and she giggles.
"I love you loads." I tell her.
"And I love you." She kisses my hand and I feel my face heat up. "Killian, your blushing!" She squeals and I look away from her.
"Stop." I huff but she only laughs louder.
Elodie's phone pings and she looks down, her eyebrows beginning to furrow.
"What is it?" My face instantly hardens and she shows me her phone.
I need you home right now!
"Why the hell does he need you home now? We were gonna get fucking ice cream." I throw my arms in frustration.
"Come on, let's go back home, Killian. It might be important." I shake my head and begin the drive to the ice cream shop. "Killian, I'm being serious."
"Well I want to get ice cream. So we'll go home after that." I roll my eyes and she huffs, sinking back into her seat.
"Fuck, I need to get petrol." I say and Elodie looks at me with wide eyes.
"Killian, let's just go home."
"Baby, what is the rush? I just want to spend the day with you." I whisper.
"I don't know, I just have a bad feeling." She says, twirling her hair round her finger.
"You're safe with me."
"Fine, but I will not be on the receiving end of Enzo's bad side once we get home." She points a finger at me and I chuckle, nodding my head.
We soon make it to the petrol station and I get out to fill the car up.
Elodie climbs out of the car and looks up at me.
"I'll go and pay, I want to get a drink." She tells me and I nod, getting ready to give her my card but the sound of tyres screeching grabs our attention.
I frown and spin around. My eyes widen as the window rolls down and a gun points out.
The person behind the gun pulls the trigger which is aimed at me.
But it misses.
"Elodie, get in the car." I whisper harshly, keeping my eyes on the car but I get no response.
My head whips round to face her and my heart drops.
No.
She clutches onto her stomach which is covered in blood.
The bullet missed me but not my girl.
"K-Killian." She whimpers as her knees buckle and she falls to the floor. I reach out for her just as the car speeds off. "Killian, it hurts." Her breathing is ragged.
"Fuck, baby!" I cry out and shrug my coat off and apply it to her wound. "Stay awake, baby." I rush out and begin to call an ambulance.
My eyes blur with tears as I try to stop the bleeding.
But there's so much.
It won't stop.
"I love you." She cries, tears streaming down her face. "P-Please tell Enzo that too. You've b-both made me so happy. So happy." She whispers, a small smile still on her beautiful face.
"You can tell him yourself. You're not going anywhere, you're not leaving us." I wipe my tears as we wait for the ambulance to arrive.
I feel like my heart is being ripped out right now because if Elodie dies, then so do I.
Her eyes flutter close and her chest stops moving.
My body freezes.
"El?" I gently shake her shoulders. "Sunflower, wake up." I plead.
She's not waking up!
"Don't do this to me, please!" I cry.
I clutch her body tightly to mine just as the ambulance arrives.
The paramedics take her unconscious body from me and a whimper escapes my lips.
Then it hits me.
This is my fault.
I should of listened to her.

Beatrice Santello
An adult imagining of Beatrice Santello's life prior to the events of Night in the Woods. There are no explicit depictions of sex here, though there are obviously adult themes and situations involving it. I wasn't going to post it to Royalroad as I didn't think Fanfiction was okay here - but now I see it is and I am quite convinced it is the best work I've ever done yet, I've got to see what any fans of NitW think about it! The first chapter was originally written as a short vignette and wasn't intended to be continued into a full blown story. It was just intended to be moody and evocative. Even though anyone that has played Night in the Woods has a good idea how this must end, I hope it will still be worth the read. Also, since I've finished writing it, I'm going to post it as one big chapter dump all at once. Cover drawing by GreasyMojo and colored by me (with permission!). I don't think it should be too risque on it's own but I suppose I'll soon find out.

Falling for a Star (Complete)
I had never paid much attention to celebrity gossip or what was going on in Hollywood because that was so far from the lifestyle I lived as a poor college student, working as a barista to save up for my own house after graduation. But then, without my knowledge, my Dad submitted my name into a talk show sweepstakes to win a week with Hollywood superstar Dylan Chase, to see what it's like to live like a celebrity for a week. My Dad thought it would be the perfect chance for me to get out of Iowa, see the world and have an adventure for once. I was dreading leaving home, flying for the first time and going by myself all the way to L.A. Plus the idea of spending a week with an arrogant, rich, snobby actor that was probably the worst kind of womanizer didn't sound like my idea of fun. What I found when I got there and met Dylan was the total opposite; a man that was humble, hard working, easy to talk to, and down to earth. Spending a week in Paradise in the guest house of Dylan Chase's Malibu mansion right on the beach, attending a movie premiere on his arm, shopping on Rodeo Drive and eating at five star restaurants was like a dream come true, but sleeping in his bed and falling for a guy from a completely different world than me was never part of the plan because we could never end up together.
