Sometimes the most courageous act
a human can do
is to let somebody
love them.

"Really August, it won't be that bad and I'm sure the Queen will be swift with it, you just have to hold still endure it." Gavin watched closely to see if the Prince would have any reaction to his words.
His face never changed.
Gavin sighed as they rounded the corner and entered the Queens Hallway.
The majestic redwood doors stood there like they had for every Queen.
August continued his walk until he was stopped by a hand.
Looking down he saw that Gavin had reached out to prevent him from entering.
Gavin gulped back whatever courage he had and braced it for this moment. He would need it.
"It's never too late to find your soul mate August," he said.
Something seemed to flash in Prince August's eyes. The most of a reaction Gavin had seen from him in a while.
"Do you remember the story of the meeting of mates?"
August's body stilled.
Gavin could tell that he was uncomfortable with the sudden change in topic, but he knew that this would be the only time he would be able to get the Prince away from his obsessive training.
He knew that the meeting of mates story was the Prince's favorite. It told Gavin a lot of things about the Prince. How when he was little, he would keep requesting to hear the story, and Gavin watched as the little Prince awwweed and laughed.
It told Gavin that he was a romantic at heart. That he was a true gentleman and had an old soul about him. Of course, he would have such a personality- he spent two unnecessary years looking for a life mate after all.

Gavin took a deep breath and said, "When they meet it's not as two, but their souls connect and form together. So strong is this bond, so deep is it made, that the tears cannot but help flow, because the other half of one's soul has been saved."
August made no move and stared with blank eyes at Gavin.
"Thus it is known, to all those who search- the one you love, the soul you need- is just a teardrop away from your heart."
August took a deep shuddering breath and said, "Stop."
Gavin's mouth closed. He couldn't have opened it even if he tried. The power that radiated off the Prince was too much to make his inner wolf even think of going against such a powerful aura.
August looked down at Gavin and said, "Thank you," before opening the doors and walking inside.
Gavin gave a deep breath. He had done the right thing. He knew it.
Inside he heard the Queen briskly tell the Prince to stand while she measured him.
No other person would get near him.
While she did so, the Queen struck up a conversation with the Prince, a rare sight that Gavin normally did not see- The Queen normally was cold and kept to herself.
"I need to ask a favor of you," She said, looking up at August.
August looked back down at her but made no reply.
The Queen continued, "Your mother made a tradition of honoring a worker who has done an impressive amount of service for their King and Queen," she wiped a stray piece of hair that had fallen in her face.
"This year's ceremony, a young girl was chosen. She looks to be about 17 or 18, but I want her to have a good time tomorrow."

The Prince and Gavin looked at the Queen, Gavin being the only one to show his astonishment. The Queen never showed affection for anything. In some ways she was very similar to August, Gavin mused.
"Can you behave and dance with her tomorrow during the celebration?" The Queen looked up at August and quickly added, "please."
August looked at the Queen. She had never asked anything of him before and certainly, one dance with another of the thousands of faceless girls he had already seen would do no harm.
"Okay," August said nodding.
The whole room stilled into silence.
The Queen smiled and whispered, "Thank you," before turning around to the workers and yelling, "One word and you suddenly become idiots? Get back to work people we have lots to do still!"
With the fitting done, the Queen shooed away both Gavin and August, saying she had other things to do.
Gavin followed August to the training grounds and watched as the Prince pulled off his shirt, threw it on the bench where he last left it and proceeded where he left off at in his training.
Gavin leaned against a post and sighed.
It was almost as if he had never left.

AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

The Echoing Past has reached Earth and now humans will have to learn what it means to receive legacy of unknown power that come with unknown intent and unknown conditions. Will they find a way trough turmoil encompassing everything or be left in ruins to never be more than a passing note in history? - Please note that English is my second language and there are bound to be gramatical mistakes. 8 188The Choice of Twilight
Growing up has always been difficult. It's even worse when you have to do it all in one night. On the eve of his thirteenth birthday, Ty awakes to find himself in a dreamworld, one-so he is told-that exists to pit him against his greatest fears and insecurities. And to ready him for a final choice. Luckily, Ty is not without friends. He soon meets Gentry, a wooden puppet his grandfather made for him years ago, walking and talking, ready to help Ty learn what he needs to return home in one piece. But that won't be easy when a cruel and abnormally tall skeleton dressed in mockery of Santa Claus and his suit hates Ty's guts. San wants nothing more than to best Ty and do what none of his kind has ever done before: defeat a child that has made "the choice." But Ty will stop at nothing to fight back against everything San's got in order to face his fears and grow up. Because, if he doesn't, he will end up a kid forever. Or, worse...never wake up again. This story is perfect for you if you are a fan of Coraline and Kingdom Hearts, both of those stories greatly inspired this one. I have recently added the Isekai tag after being unsure if it counts or not. I've decided it fits the description of what it is but not the current trends in the genre. If you go in with Coraline in mind I think you will have a better idea of the kind of Isekai this is. And I've also added the Slice of Life tag, that is only for the first five or six chapters though, then Ty enters the dream world and it pretty quickly becoms a progression fantasy, a mix of more traditional fairy tale like trappings alongside more anime action and acquisition of slowly increasing powers. With all that out of the way, please enjoy! Updates every Tuesday and Thursday! What time of day? It's a mystery! (For now)
