The next morning I had that doctor's appointment before going to work.

I kissed Theo bye and headed to the gynecologist's office. I would rather run naked in the street than have a Pap smear.

I sign in and wait to be called back. Once the nurse came and got me she checked my blood pressure and weight and headed to a room.

"Dr. Sparks will be with you shortly."

"Thank you."

I undress and make sure to wrap my bra in my shirt and put the gown on and jump up on the table.

It feels like I sit there forever before she comes in.

"Hey there Vaylin! How are you?"

"I'm doing great thanks!"

"I saw your picture in the paper not long ago and what you have done was so great."

"Thank you!" I blushed.

"Looks like you got married since I saw you last. So you want to stay on the same birth control?"

"Yeah, it seems to be working so that's fine with me."

"Once we get this done I want to do some blood work on you ok?"

"Sounds good."

Once the duckbill platypus has done its job I am up getting dressed. I walk down the hall to the lab and have some bloodwork and a short while later I leave.

I get almost to work when my phone begins ringing.

I hit the button on my radio screen.

☎️ Hello?

☎️ Vaylin Kingston?

☎️ That's me.

☎️ Hi I'm calling from Dr. Sparks office she just got your bloodwork back and she has some concerns and she needs you to come back to the office.

☎️ Right now?

☎️ That would be best.

☎️ Ok, I can be there in less than ten minutes.

☎️ See you then.

I hit the button hanging up the phone and my heart is beating fast. What is wrong with me?

My mouth was dry and I could hardly swallow. I arrived and basically ran in and got on the elevator and checked in.

I didn't set there long until I was called back and taken to another room.

"She will be right in Mrs. Kingston."

"Thank you."

I sit on the bench and wanted to bite my fingernails I was so nervous and I wanted to call Theo but I didn't want to upset him until I had a reason to be.

The door opens and Dr. Sparks walks in. "Vaylin thank you for coming back on such a short notice."

"I am about to poop my pants here Dr. Sparks what is wrong with me?"

"Oh, honey the nurse didn't tell you?"

"No, she just said you had concerns, and I'm freaking out. Was something wrong with my bloodwork?"

"Not exactly but I need you to stop taking your birth control."

"Oh god, why? Do I have a blood clot?"

Dr. Sparks walked over in front of me and hands me a paper. "What I want to show you Vaylin is that you are pregnant."

"What? How in the world? Wait I know how but I'm floored. Are you sure?"

"Oh yeah, your levels are high. If you wouldn't mind getting up on the table I want to check and see how far along you are."

"This is surreal. What am I going to do with a baby?" I laugh.

"Raise it and take care of it hopefully." She laughed.

"My parents and my husbands have driven us crazy about kids and we just weren't ready but ready or not I guess we should get prepared."

She squirted the gel on and looked at a screen and clicked buttons. "Do you see that little blob right there?"

"Yeah, I do."

"That is your baby. It looks like you are about eight weeks Vaylin."

"Wow, I don't even know what to say and how am I going to tell Theo?"

"Well, you can show him the sonogram for starters." She laughed.

"Now what do I need to do Dr. Sparks?"

"I need you to go pick up some prenatal vitamins and schedule to come back in a month."

"I can do that. I will go get that filled now and try to figure out how to tell my husband." I laughed.

"Good luck Vaylin." She wiped my stomach off and I went out made an appointment for the next month and sit in my car and started to cry.

Me having a baby?

I decided to go pick up a small box to put the sonogram in and I decided to tell Issac I wasn't coming in today.

☎️ Issac I'm not feeling well can you cover today?

☎️ Sure boss we will keep making what we have been.

☎️ I appreciate that thank you!

I stopped and picked up a small box and once home I went up to our bedroom and changed and then got the box ready and put it in my nightstand drawer.

I decided to text Theo that I was home.

📱 Hey Theo! I'm not feeling well and decided to come home after my doctor's appointment.

📱 Ok sweetness! I will leave out of here soon. Want me to pick up some food?

📱 Please? Maybe a bacon cheeseburger at that diner and some season fries?

📱 You got it see you soon.

I went and lay on the couch until Theo came in with a bag of food.

"Are you ok sweetness?"

"Yeah, I'm ok! Thanks for bringing food I'm starving!"

We sit and eat on the couch and I was trying to figure out how to tell Theo.

"You ok sweetness?"

"Um yeah, I'm good. I have a present for you."

"You do?"

"Yeah, it's upstairs come on." I smile heading up the steps. My legs were shaking and I wasn't sure how he would act on the news. We said kids one day but not today.

I walk over and open my drawer to the nightstand and pull out the small box.

"I don't need a present sweetness."

"Well, this one is a really big surprise." I laugh handing him the box sitting down on the bed next to him.
