《Bear Roberts》Chapter Seventeen

Bear had only ten minutes till his shift ended, so I decided to wait for him, instead of going with Jay and Mac.

They hated me for it, but oh well.

I get in Bear's car and watch him casually walk around and get into his side. He even walked hot.

Or maybe I'm just a horny little bitch.

"Have fun today?" He asks dryly.

"I did," I answer honestly.

He grunts. "They are a bad influence."

"Says the guy who's been to prison," I tease.

He rolls his eyes and starts his car.

When we have been driving for ten minutes, I realise we weren't on the route to our apartment. "Where are we going?" I murmur.

"Dinner," Bear answers.

"Like a date?" I question, smiling.

He grunts.

"I'd like an actual answer," I say.

"Yes," he growls.

We pull into a diner's parking lot, and get out of the car. I was shaking inside, as Bear grabs my hand to hold it.

Get a grip, Danny.

"Table for two?" The waitress asks.

"Yes," Bear grunts.

"I'm Bailey, I'll be your waiter," she says, as she takes us over to a booth. "Can I start you guys off with some drinks?"

"I'll have a lemonade," I say.

"Same," Bear mutters.

"I'll be right back with those," Bailey chirps.

"She's loud," Bear comments.

"She's just happy," I retort.

"I'm happy," he argues.

"You don't show it," I state.

He gives me an awkward smile, which makes me burst out laughing.

"Here you go," Bailey says, popping our drinks down onto the table. "I'll give you guys a couple of minutes to look at your menus and be right back with you."

We thank her, as she walks away.

I watch Bear as he sips on his lemonade. "How old are you?" I ask him.

"Twenty three," he answers.

"So you went to prison when you were nineteen?" I question.

"Your smart," he grumbles.

I giggle. "So how come your not drinking?"

"I don't drink," he mutters.

"That's not what Jay says," I claim. "He said your the best drunk ever!"

Bear rolls his eyes. "I don't drink all the time," he corrects himself.

"Okay," I say. "Did you want to know anything about me?"

"No."

"We are on a date, Mitchell," I say. "It's where we get to know each other."

He grunts. "I know you."

"Oh yeah?" I question. "What's my favourite colour?"

"Yellow," he answers.

My eyes widen surprised. "That's correct."

"Most of the clothes you wear are yellow," he states. "Plus the bracelet you wear."

"Wow," I awe. "Okay, what's my favourite movie?"

"50 first dates," he answers.

What. The. Hell.

"How the hell do you know that!?" I hiss.

He smirks. "It's your most played on Netflix."

"You have a good eye," I murmur.

He shrugs. "Yeah."

"What's something no one knows about you?" I ask him, stirring my lemonade with my straw.

"Everything," he answers.

"You'll have to be more specific," I tease.

He huffs. "I didn't lose my virginity till I was 19."

"No way," I gasp. "Why?"

"I didn't think it was necessary," he says. "I wasn't in love with someone, so I didn't do it."

"Who was It with?" I ask leaning forward, intrigued.

"It was after Crystal died," he mutters. "I was in a bad place, and wanted to forget everything."

"Did you forget?" I murmur.

"No," He whispers.

I take his hand in mine, softly running my thumb along the back of it. "Sorry."

He grunts. Bailey comes back smiling at us. "Ready to order?" She asks.

"No," Bear growls.

Bailey flinches, but still stays smiling. "I'll come back then."

I glare at Bear as she walks away. "That wasn't nice."

"I'm not nice," he mutters.

"You are to me," I say, smiling.

"Cause I trust you," he says.

"We better look at the menu," I murmur, as I feel flushed.

I think I'm falling for Bear. Like in love.

It was way too soon for that.

I've only known him for two months.

Bear could sense something was wrong when we got back to the apartment. I just told him I was feeling a little sick.

"Do you want a glass of water?" He asks.

"I think I'll just go lay down," I murmur.

He nods and I felt his gaze on me, as I walk to my room.

I face plant into my bed, groaning. I can't believe this.

I could not be falling for Bear.

I didn't even fall for Jason this quickly.

And besides the fact that he slept with my mother, he was actually a great guy.

My door opens and I turn on my stomach. Bear gets on the bed, laying on his side, beside me. "Are you mad at me?" He asks.

"No," I answer. "Why would you think that?"

"You've been distant towards me, since we left the diner," he says.

"I've just been thinking," I whisper. "Nothing you should worry about though."

He nods. He then looks around my room. "I'm surprised you haven't put up any pictures or anything."

"Am I allowed?" I ask.

"Yeah," he chuckles.

"I just thought since we rent-"

"You rent," Bear states. "I own this apartment."

"Really?" I ask surprised.

"I bought it with the money my dad left me," he answers.

"Left you?" I question.

"He and mum died," he says. "When I was sixteen."

I do the math and frown. That means Jay was also sixteen and his other brother was nineteen.

"That's so sad," I whisper. "What happened?"

"Car accident," he says. "Dad was a dick, but mum was our world."

"Why was your dad a dick?" I ask, stroking his arm.

"Didn't support Jay when he came out and beat the living shit out of him," Bear answers. "Luckily Darren was there to stop it."

"Darren," I say. "I never knew his name till now."

"Mac never told you?" He asks.

"You never told me," I joke.

"I told you, I had a brother," Bear retorts. "Be grateful."

"I am," I murmur.

I was so grateful he was in my life.
