Sheila

I thought war was chaotic, the gods knows I was wrong. "Suck," the maid pulled the corset tighter, "it," one more go, "in!" I don't think I have ribs at this point, and all this trouble was because I gain a bunch of muscle out at war. I had to give my best of luck to the maids, there is no way that they are moving my abs.

Selven pokes his head into the room and my face instantly brightened. "Selven! Good morning!" I smiled waving my hand.

He gave a shy smile and a little wave, "hello Queen Sheila." He gave a little bow. "Everyone has arrived and are eating in the main hall. Breakfast is fruits and yogurt, along with other things you can eat because you can't risk getting it on your dress." He watched as my maids pull the long dress out from the closet.

It was a sleeveless navy blue dress that curved at my breast. At the top there were little decorations of black and yellow beads, giving off the glow of the stars. I wanted something to resemble my family, as I take this step into becoming the head of another very large family. Moving down the dress, the same pattern continued at the hip. Though it was much more extravagant, spreading out a few inches down my leg. Then the dark blue dressed fanned out across the floor.

The reason that this dress was so simple is for the cape that was being pulled out from the closet. It was the perfect match for my dress. It was mandatory for the royal family to wear capes at all times, when out in public. Even during wars, I would always have a cape strapped under my backpack. No one besides the royal families were supposed to wear them.

The cape was beautiful, it had big extravagant grey loops that went over my shoulder, so large that they blocked most of the view to my neck. Then it flowed down my back into this dark blue fabric with stars and little white dots. I was in love with this cape. "I'll have some fruit," I smiled to Selven.

He nodded, and turned to leave, though he stopped at the door. He turned and looked back at me, "Queen Sheila," he started and I almost jumped out of my skin. I wasn't ready for him to address me directly. "It's a honor to serve you," he rested a hand on his chest. "The kingdom can now sleep in peace, knowing that you are the one keeping them from danger." He bowed his head, and was about to leave once more.

"Ah! Wait!" I shooed off the maids for a moment and ran up to him. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and pulled him into a big hug. "Remember what we promised at the Elven Kingdom," I looked up at him with soft eyes.

"To no more isolation," he wrapped his arms around me, feather light, as if a ghost was holding me.

"To no more isolation."

The ceremony was just about to start and I was waiting in the back. The dress and cape on, my hair tied back into a half up, half down. I thought about the crown, the crown of Zaivinth ancestors would weigh heavy on my head, for many other reasons beyond weight. I was fiddling my thumbs, alone, waiting for my cue.

Then all of a sudden, someone placed a hand on my shoulder. I knew that only one person can sneak around this quietly. I turned and smiled at Cebrus who was wearing his kingdoms uniform. He had all sorts of awards on his chest, it made me realize who exactly my friends actually were.

"Cebrus..." I looked at the door. "I'm not getting second thoughts, but—" my voice cracked, knowing that there was way over two hundred people behind that closed door. "I-I'm just nervous," I stuttered, I wouldn't say that to anyone but him.

He was a quiet listener, if he judges me he certainly didn't show it, and he keeps my secrets close to my chest, just like I did his. "Yeah," his voice was quiet, "I'm nervous for you." He raised his hand and grabbed my hand, giving it a soft pat.

I looked up to his sparkling grey eyes. "You—" he let go of my hand and placed his on his chin. He was thinking of what to say. "You, you will rule well, no doubt." He then smiled, his pearly whites were contagious. "But you have friends," he pointed to himself, "who will fight wars with you." Then he looked at the door in front of us. "I'm excited too..."

"I will find my mate," he looked back down to me. "And she will become a queen, like you, hopefully she is smart. But she doesn't need to be smart." He fiddled with his finger, nervously.

I went up and hugged him, "she will be everything that you hope she will be, and more." I smiled up at him. "And when you find her, send her over here, I want to be friends with her."

His bright smile was burned into my memory, as I heard the bells chime for me to go. "See you in the hall." He gave me a tight squeeze.

"See you at dinner." With a smile he turned and left the room, to return to his seat. A kept an eye on his beautiful raven wings. Then a thought came to my mind.

"What are his children going to look like if his mate is a wolf?" Then I gasped, "what are my children going to look like?" I'm a wolf with a dragon. Panic sets in, though it was instantly gone when I reached the door.

"Queen Sheila, are you ready?" A guard from the other side spoke to me.

I took a deep breath. "Ready."

The doors open wide and at the other end of the isle was my mate with his magnificent black crown and black uniform. I looked out into the rows, I see that Cebrus found his seat and he gave a curt wave, and I gave a little wave of my hand, which was down at my side. I see Xion at the front, he was looking back at me, an arm over his row of chairs. If I hadn't known better, he looked like a proud dad. Next to him was Selven, grinning like a mad man.

Then I felt the tingle of the night pull my attention to the other side. There was my family, first row, looking back at me. My mom had tears in her eyes and my brothers smiled warmly, the same smile our dad wore. My family, so alive, so kind.

Behind them was Olfie, the wolf that didn't try to kill me the second I hold him that I was a shadow wolf. Sitting next to him was Herus, the loving centaur. It's crazy to think that Herus saved me on the battlefield, without him, I surely would be dead.

Then there was a familiar red head, her shield still strapped to her back, the goddess of protection. Besides her was the two others, the goddess of peace, and the goddess of wisdom. Behind them were a few more women that I hadn't gotten the chance to meet yet. Though judging by their aura, they were certainly godly beings.

Back to the side with Cebrus, behind him was the King of Werewolves and the Queen of Faeries. The king of werewolves had a solemnly sad look in his eyes as he watched me move down. The more I look at him, the more I realize how much we looked alike. Then I looked to his sons, they looked at me in awe, maybe they did have a brotherly admiration towards me.

Then I looked back to my real family, the people who would be there for me, their smiles are the only ones that I cared about.

I reached the end of the isle, taking hands with my mate. I looked up to see Fealous, my mates father figure, looking down at us with warm smiles.

"Let us begin."

The ceremony was almost over, after what seems to be an hour of preparation, I can finally be crowned. Normally the crowing was supposed to be hard on the Queen, though this was nothing but a walk in a garden. "Please kneel, before the gods," little did he know, the 'gods' he was talking about, were behind us.

I got down on my knees, and Zaivinth kneeled besides me. "Do you promise to rule this kingdom with justice and righteousness."

"Forever and always." I was looking at the white marble underneath me.

"You promise to live for your country and are prepared to die for it?" I saw his shoes walk up to me, it was time. It was finally time.

"Forever and always."

"Then the by the honor given to me, henceforth and forever, you will be titled Queen Sheila of the Dragons." The crown, the beautiful black crown rested on my head, the weight enormous. Then Zaivinth grabbed my hand and helped me up. I looked into his eyes.

Finally, you are my Queen.

Be prepared, you aren't getting about from me any time soon, my King. I smiled at him, and he laughed.

I love you, Sheila.

I love you too, Zaivinth. Then we shared a kiss as cheers erupted from around us.

Happiness, I found was the destination on a road of many hardships, and with these hardships, I've grown into being the best person I could possibly be. Even though my life was anything but easy, I wouldn't trade it, even for the world. Oh, well, maybe I would trade it for my kingdom.

THE crown, that Sheila now wears.

Zaivinth's crown.

Sheila's Dress

Sheila's Cape.
