Zaivinth

I stood, bags under my eyes, looking down at my mate who was set in a bed in the left wing of our castle. I couldn't stay on the field, I was mentally unstable, Xion is here helping me cope.
I still couldn't believe that she was gone, my heart quivered at the thought. Are you still there? I grabbed at the golden string connecting us together. Though the second my mind wrapped around it, it faded into nothing.
We were preparing for her funeral, she had died five days ago, and I haven't done anything but mourn and pray. Xion is trying to get me to sleep, but I just can't, it's like sleep isn't a concept to me anymore.
"Zaivinth," Xion our a gentle hand on my shoulder. I flinched away, and got closer to my mate. "Zaivinth, as your friend, I need you to know I'm here for you. We are all sad, though you are not alone."
Though I am alone. I'm completely alone now. I could be in a room filled to the brim with people, though without the love of my life with me, I would feel so alone. I just needed to die. Die and go see her on the other side, if there is an other side.
"Should I bring food to you, you haven't eaten anything," I looked over to my friend who held unlimited amounts of pain within his eyes. His eyes had circles under them.
I hear the Crow King, the grandson of the King of Crows of my mother's book, was being merciless on the battlefront. His kills dripping into the hundreds, and soon to be in the thousands, and he is doing it with his army of assassins.
"I need you to do something for me." I flicked my eyes to Xion's, it was the first words that I had spoken to him. My words croaked out, my voice sore from sobbing.
His eyes lit up, "what? What do you want me to do?" He jumped at the opportunity to help me.
"I need you to grab a book for me."
—
"Get out of my way!" I heard from outside of the room. "Move aside!" Then the door flew open, slamming against the wall. I shot from where I was sitting and growled. I closed the book that I was reading to Sheila and hugged it close to my chest.

It was Weni, Sheila's mentor. She looked disheveled though I probably looked worse. I guarded her bed, "why are you yelling in a castle that's mourning?" I growled out, I liked Weni, though her urgency had me on edge. Everything had me on edge. I was always, constantly, on edge.
"I'm here to bring her back," in her hands was a black box, sealed tight with numerous locks and keyholes. I raised an eyebrow, hope floating through me.
"H-how?" I stumbled over my words. My guard melted as I stepped away from the bed. I would do anything to bring her back. I didn't think it was an option till now.
Then two other women ran into the room. "You didn't remove any organs right?!" One of them shouted and I tensed.
"Wha—"
"Shut up, I'm concentrating." Weni snapped as she pulled the key out from around her neck. It was a golden key, though it had an aura around it that made it seem that it was more than an average house key.
She shoved the key into the locks. All of them magically opening. "Who are you? Why are you here?"
One of them rolled their eyes, "if we told you, you wouldn't believe us."
"Shut up!" Shouted Weni from the other side of the bed. She was sitting on the side, opening the black box. I drew in a breath, I had no idea what was inside of it.
Then out came large continuous golden fleece that seemed to go on for forever. She kept pulling it out and it started shimmering in the sunlight. It was a magnificent thing, it felt as if I shouldn't be seeing it. She laid it on Sheila, and we watched it soak into her body.
Weni smiled softly, "now we wait."

Sheila
—
It was dark where I was, though it wasn't a lonely darkness, it was homely. "Hello?" I looked around, in the distance I saw the outline of red mountains. "Anyone here?" I took a step in the direction of the red mountains. In the side of it was a familiar cave.
"Hello," someone rested a hand on my shoulder and I whirled around. It was a young man with silver hair, he looked familiar, like someone I knew.

"Do you know where I am?" I had to be dead, I knew that magic was supposed to kill me. I died in Xion's arms.
"The afterlife," he said calmly, he looked up at the sky. "You don't ask for much huh?" He raised his hands and suddenly in the dark sky stars appeared, lighting up the world.
"Um, may I ask you your name," his dark eyes looked into my eyes and he smiled, he was the nicest smile.
"I'm Literos, call me Ross, it's easier."
"Like as in the God of Stars?" I said with a smile, my intrested peaked.
"Exactly like that," he waved a hand and a white table with a wire rose in a vase appeared, "I'd like to talk to you about something."
"Oh sure, I think I have time on my hands." I joked but inside I pinned to see my mate. Maybe I can watch over him while he lives out the rest of his long life.
"It's humorous to know how wrong you are." He pulled out my chair and I sat down. I raised an eyebrow.
"Anyways, before we start, I want to thank you for your mother. Without her," I rubbed my hands awkwardly in front of me. "Well my species wouldn't be a thing."
"Ah, this is why she likes you." He sat down and put his hands together resting his chin on them.
"She knows me?" I gasped, shoot was she watching over me. I blushed deeply, how much does the moon goddess see? Everything? Just parts?
"More than you know. Anyways, I want you to think of me as an older brother,"
"W-what? But you are a god?"
He chuckled, "why don't we get past that god thing. Just think of me as someone who just has a very long lifespan." He smiled a lop-sided smile.
"Alright..." I said on edge. "Why in the world would you want me as a younger sister?"
"Well to see how much my mom cares for you," he explains using his hands, "and how you have no family," he waved a hand nonchalantly at me, "it seems like a good idea. I've always wanted a female sibling, because my brother drives me up the wall, and now the opportunity has arrived. Not to mention that two of our four family members likes you."
"Wait—wait," I held up my hands confused. "How can you like me, I'm a mortal, a monster, everything the gods aren't."
His eyes narrowed, "if I didn't like you, do you think I would come to Heidos' realm just to talk to you. It's pretty, um, sad down here." He looked up to the sky, "is much rather be where my family is, and where the parties are." He sighed resting his head on his hands once more. "Anyways, I want you to know that my mom was jumping through countless hoops trying to get you back to the Mythical realm."
"Your mom did what?" I gasped, I didn't think I was that important.
"My mom called on a debt that Heidos, the god of the afterlife, owed her from thousands of years ago. Though she thought that even that wouldn't work so she came to me and asked me to put you amongst the stars." He used a hand to point up to the stars.
"What? Why would she do that for me?" Then I started to feel funny. I looked at my hands and they started disappearing. "What?" I gasped and looked up to Ross who was looking at me with a soft smile.
"Because she loves you. See you on the other side."
