OCTOBER 1st, 2019

Sheila

I ended up on the bed, and Zaivinth, on the couch. As much as I tried to get him on the bed he kept persisting I slept there. Saying things like, "what type of man would I be if I allowed you to sleep on the couch." Or to try and make me feel better, "This is a luxury bed compared to some of the places I had to sleep."

I woke up and the first thing I checked was the ceiling for another dead bird. I sighed in relief when I saw there was none. I rolled to my side to look at Zaivinth who was still fast asleep.

My eyes glanced to the window, it was dawn, the sun barely cracking over the trees and mountains in the distance. This was the time I would normally wake up, back at my old home. I did that so I could tend to my garden, now I didn't need to grow my own food.

The feeling was quite on. To depend on others, rather than yourself.

"Sheila are you awake?" I heard Zaivinth mumble, stretching his hands over his head. Don't tell me I woke him up.

"Yes, go back to sleep, it's only dawn." His scratchy morning voice was dangerous for both parties, it's best we both stayed quiet.

"I should get up." I saw him sit up, rubbing his face, trying to wake himself up. His black hair sticking out every which way. It was quite ironic to have black hair even though he is a white dragon.

"What in the world are you doing this early in the morning." I sat up and rested my back against the board behind me. I moved a pillow to support my back. I wanted to get a full view of what Zaivinth was trying to do.

"Training. Swords. Xion will be waiting." His broken speech made me giggle as he walked to the bathroom. He placed his hand on the handle. He was about to go in before he turned to me, "do you need to use the bathroom first?"

I waved him off, "no, go ahead." With that, he nodded and closed the door behind him. I flipped the covers off me, now my green nightgown, when down to the floor. I walked over to the balcony and pushed the glass doors open, leading me to the outside. I leaned on the quartz railing. There were lanterns on both sides of the rail.

The fire dogs leaped and played on the air. I couldn't touch them, because they would burn me. Though the are shy creatures and normally burn up when people pay too much attention to them. So I just admire them from a side glance.

I sighed and rested my head on my hands, looking out to the sunrise. This was peace. This is what peace felt like. I looked and looked and looked. On to when the sun was just over the trees completely.

I felt arms wrap around me. "Pondering future life decisions." Zaivinth put his nose to my neck, taking in my scent.

"No actually. I'm not thinking of much at all." I wrapped my hands around his arms. "Aren't you supposed to leave soon?"

"You want me to leave?" I saw the side of his face come into view. He had a pout on his lips, a playful look.

"Oh, you know I was joking." I turned in his arms and leaned on the railing. "Though, why don't I come see your practice." I looked at what he was wearing, he had a black coat with a shirt of elven green poking out underneath. His belt was leather with a golden buckle, that had some type of symbol engraved into it. Strapped to that belt was a beautiful sword that had an ivory handle.

"Hmm," he hummed in thought. "You will get bored." He shook his head. Denied.

"I won't."

"Yes."

"How do you know." I pouted my lip.

"I know." It was like talking to a wall.

"I want to see!"

"Fine." He rolled his eyes and let me go. "You will be cold in that, put a few layers on, I'll walk you to your room and wait outside."

He was right. I was bored out of my mind. The sun was now clear in the sky. We were on the ground, the kings and knights fighting in front of me. I was in the shade, I had delayered, it was cold, now it was steaming. I rested on the stump of a tree closest to the marble bench.

I noticed how Zaivinth kept looking at me through short glances. Sometimes he would give a short wave, maybe to keep me company, as I sat here alone.

I couldn't help swaying in and out of consciousness. Before I knew it, I was out cold.

"Miss!" There was a shake of my shoulder. "Miss!" I pried my eyes open.

"Yes?" Boys, barely younger than me, maybe my age. I sat up straight, as they stood in front of me.

"Are you here to fight?" They said protectively, their arms crossing.

Do I say yes? Or do I say no?

Yes, will certainly end with a fight. No will end up making me explain that I just wanted to see my beautiful mate workout.

"Yes?" It came out almost like a question.

Their smiles grew. "We always wanted to see a shadow wolf in action! We hear that they are legends on the battlefield."

Oh, they are about to face disappointment. "What's going on here, mate?" My head snapped to the right where my mate, now shirtless, walking over to us. One, swoon, he had an eight pack. Two, I didn't want to go on and explain this.

"They wanted to see me as a shadow wolf." It was out of my mouth in an instant, explaining it is. I turned to the boys, they fidgeted slightly under the blazing eyes of my Zaivinth. Poorboys.

"Is that so?" He looked to me, holding out a hand to help me up. I graciously took it. "Are you going to show them?"

My eyes danced back to the two elvish boys. They were scared of my mate, though their curiosity for me shown in their eyes.

"Why not?" I shrugged, I found out that I'm not going to hurt anyone.

"I was wondering what the tensions over here were about." Xion placed a hand on both my shoulder and my mates. We both looked at him an eyebrow raised.

"Tensions?" I questioned my eyebrows raising.

He just sighed and gave Zaivinth a hard shoulder pat. "Stop scaring my squires."

"I'm not scaring them." He scoffed looked off to the side. "If they are that scared, they aren't fit for the military."

"You say that even though you can make the Dwarven king wet his trousers by just raising your voice." This was all true, I couldn't help a giggle.

"Anyways, besides the point. It would be a great honor for my men to see a shadow wolf." He looked to me, delight shimmering in his eyes.

How can a turn that down?

I nodded my head, "space please." I nudged him away from me. It didn't take Zaivinth another moment to drag both of the boys and Xion to a good distance away.

I took a deep breath out and allowed all the shadows to seep out of my skin and my bones to pop.

Once fully shifted, I stood to the top of the trees. I looked to my mate, now so tiny compared to me. I ducked my head to his height.

He placed a hand on my muzzle. "You are magnificent." He said in awe, I just looked at him, my shadows dancing around me.

"I want to fight her."

Push me past the point of going back. I write 1,500-word chapters every day... no sleep lyfe. Sad thing is, I enjoy doing it.
