He looked at me confused, "you didn't know?" He acted as I would know. I flailed my arms.

"How was I supposed to know!" I cried out, stress dripping from every word that escaped my mouth. How would I know he was a king. What is he even a king of?

"Ah," he winced, looking a bit wounded, he took a step back. "Well, allow me to formally introduce myself, mate." He smiled weakly, trying to make light of this situation.

"I am," he placed a hand over his chest, like all the kings I've met before him did. "King Zaivinth, King of the Dragons." He bowed his head, just barely bobbing it, so kingly. I could practically see the imaginary crown placed atop his head.

"W-What," my hands started to shake, nervous for his answer. "What does that make me?" I sucked in a breath, preparing for the impact of the words he was about to say.

He lifted his head, a smile still playing on his face. He grabbed my pale hand, bringing it to his lips again. There was love, admiration, trust, swimming in his eyes. "That makes you." Meeting my hand with his lips, a gentle as if a butterfly had kiss it instead. "My queen."

I stumbled backwards, as if I was punched. He grip on my hand tightened, he straightened out his spine. He was about to speak, though I beat him to it. "I can't." I stuttered out.

He tugged on my hand, pulling me into his embrace. His hands wrapped around my body, one hand around my waist, the other deep in my hair. My head was under his chin, taking in his breath. "I'll protect you, I'll help you, you aren't alone."

"I've lived alone all my life, how am I supposed to help others." Tears prickled my eyes. The horrible truth bubbled to the surface.

"You aren't alone now. You have me, you are meeting new people. You don't have to make any decisions alone." He told me reassuringly. I let out a deep sigh. I guess there was no point worrying about it now.

His hand that was in my hair drifted towards my chin, tilting it upwards. I fluttered my eyes open to meet his. His beautiful electric blue eyes captivated me.

He leaned down, his lips were only a few inches from mine. "I trust you," I breathed. I stood up on my tippy toes, meeting his lips.

The butterflies in my stomach exploded, the feeling of my love bursting from me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, while his wrapped around my backside. I bended into him, until the beautiful kiss ended.

I rocked back to the flats of my heels. I peered up at him as I dropped my hands to my side. I tried to look over my shoulder towards where the banquet awaited us, though I was trapped tight in his arms.

"I think we should get to the banquet, we were already fashionably late," I giggled, rocking back and forth from my heel to my toes.

He smiled, unwrapping his arms from around me. Though as quick as lighting he swooped down and grabbed my hand, interlacing our fingers. "Let us go, my darling mate."

His electric blue eyes gleamed with delight as he lead me, hand and hand, towards the banquet hall.

We had been here for hours, and my social skills are starting to drain out of me. I rested my head on Zaivinth shoulder, he had a hand tight around my waist as we swayed to the beautiful elven music. It was the first time I heard any type of music at all. The harp and triangle was a beautiful combination, the soft strumming of a guitar almost swayed me to sleep.

"Is that King Zaivinth?" We heard a voice from behind us sang. We turned our head and was faced with one of the most beautiful man to walk the earth.

"Oh, Azi, I can't remember seeing you today at the meeting." He used the hand that wasn't wrapped around me, to shake his hand.

"That is because I wasn't there. I had to come late due to troubles back home, I only just arrived." He had long, pure golden hair, and eyes of emerald green, with skin as pale as snow. He looked over to me.

"We is this?" His eyes flickered with curiosity. I smiled and reached out a hand.

"Hello I am Sheila, Zaivinth mate, it's a pleasure to meet you."

He took my hand, shaking it with his own. "It's a pleasurable surprise to see that my old friend finally found his mate." His eyes swayed to Zaivinth, "as beautiful as you are." He looked back towards me, a sheepish grin on his face.

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself!" He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, he let out a chuckle that sounded like music to anyone's ears.

"I am Azai Fridel, King of the Faeries. You must meet my mate sometime in the future, maybe you have heard of her, she goes by the name Maeve." He dotted on her so softly, you knew that they were in love.

"Is she here?" I asked softly, admiring his love for his mate. My mate hopefully would love me like that, and for on me when I wasn't there. I took a shameless glance at Vince, to see a little smile poking at the corners of his lips.

"She isn't, she is back home dealing with the problem that we are currently discussing here." I nodded my head, understanding what he was saying.

Not wanting to talk about war I behan to speak. "I'm sure she is lovely to speak—,"

There was a thunderous crash and everything had gone dark in the halls. There were screams of the guests and swords were being unsheathed. I felt the gust of wind come from where my mate was. Soon there was a grey light that formed from the center of the room.

Through I only got a glimpse of what was going on before I was wrapped in the safe embrace of my mates wings. Zaivinth must have shifted to protect me from any danger that could have occurred when the lights had gone out. I felt his grey smoke tickling my feet. He was mad.

"Please do not fret, there seemed to be a gust of wind, we are working are relighting the candles of the chandeliers." Xion's voice boomed in the grand hall. It was full of authority, nothing like the friendly conversation that we were having earlier.

I walked up to the gap of the wings and tried to peek at what was going on. Just then, a grey orb formed almost right in front of us.

Zaivinth shuffled backwards, drawing me along with him. Then the orb started talking. It was a deep voice, something that struck fear into the very root of my existence.

"You have something I need. And I will be coming to get it soon."

Ooooh, spooky spooky.
