He walked me out of the meeting hall, leading me by a tightly clenched hand. There was not a window in sight, just open balconies that I unlooked a beautiful wooden village in the trees. I walked, mouth shaped, as I watched how they had an entire town amongst the trees. It had a beautiful golden glow from the setting sun. There were wooden bridges that connected each building together.
"All elven villages are like that." I looked over to my mate who was still looking down the hall, guiding us to the room.
"Like what?" I asked staring in the center of his two human shoulder blades. He was a very muscular human, though that would be expected from a dragon.
"Living in the trees." He turned to his right and looked out towards the houses. "I find it stupid."
"I think it's beautiful." I followed his eyesight. There was a large tree that had a massive building, probably a town hall.
"If there is a forest fire, they are all gone."
"I think it's worth it."
"I don't."
I huffed and looked forward again. There was a massive wooden door with golden carvings just up ahead. "Are we going through that?" I watched as Zaivinth looked back at me, then towards the door in front of us.
"Well, you will get a feel to what it feels like to live in a treehouse." We walked a few more steps and he used his free hand and shoulder to shove the door open.
With a loud creek the massive door, the size of a house opened to a large room with an ancient tree in the middle. I gasped aloud, using my unoccupied hand to block my mouth. "Look at that tree!"

There were light wooden stairs that wound up the side of the tree, all the way up to the top, almost impossible to see where we were standing. Branches pointed outwards, beautiful yellow lanterns hanging off them, illuminating the room. All around us were circular walls that revolve around this massive tree, following it up around the trunk, just stopping before the top.
"Let's go, love." He looked back at me, a childish smile plastered on his face as he ran towards the tree. It took me a moment before I was dragged into a run behind him.
We started spiraling up the stairs, taking turn after turn. "Be careful, there is nothing stopping you from falling." He said looking back at me for just a moment before focusing on where he was stepping.
The yellow lanterns were now so close, I could almost just reach out and take one-off. The sun was just almost under the horizon now. "I guess it is beautiful." I heard my Mate mumble under his herewith as we made it to the top. We walked out onto a wooden ledge.
"Oh my." It looked just out of a dream. Lamps were lit up on every bridge, elves were walking with each other without worry. Scholars carried books, children played, rushing past adults on the wooden bridges, lovers held hands and walked side by side. Just like me. Just like us.
Houses were everywhere, though they weren't large. Only five rooms at most, then there was a circle wooden foundation that was held tightly to the large trees.
The only large one was far in the distance, which was probably the main town hall, "what's the point of a castle when you have that," I gestured to the three-floored mansion in the distance.
"The castle is just for intercontinental conferences, such as the one we went to today." My mate fell into pace beside me. We were now walking over one of the bridges, they were narrow, probably only three people could fit on them sideways.

"So the castle is just for show?" I questioned giving him a quick glance before looking back at the huge house.
"Yes and no. There are certain things done inside of it, but nobody lives inside of it, everyone lives up here." He displayed a hand to everything in front of me.
"Where does Xion sleep, if it's not in the castle?" I questioned.
He pointed at the three-storied house, "there, that is also where we will be staying for a few days."
I would be living in that big house? Oh wow, I've never been in such a big house. I bet my packhouse was something like that size. I read stories where the packhouses are five floors high, did mine look like that? I wonder.
We walked in silence over countless other bridges before finally making it to the large house. "Ladies first," Zaivinth said politely holding the door open for me.
"Thank you, you good sir." I bobbed my head with respect before stepping into the house.
I almost had the wind knocked out of me when I saw the insides. There were two golden spiral staircases that stopped on the next floor and the top floor. This main entrance hall had doors doing all three directions, two north, one in both east and west.
"Come on, get your jaw up off the floor." He teased me, I chuckled along with him. I was sure it was rare for this uptight guy to crack a joke, so I'm glad he was going it with me around.
"My jaw wasn't on the floor." I rushed to catch up with him. He was already at the left golden spiral staircase.
"Oh, I'm sure." He teased again as he started his ascent.
"I'm sure!" I joked back with an ounce of playful distress in my voice. I took the first step on the polished stone steps. It's crazy how trees could hold this massive thing up. Humans weren't giving them enough credit.
We stopped at the second floor and walked all the way down the hall. The room we stopped in front of was the second to last on the floor. "This is your room, I'll be right next door." He pointed to the one at the end.
"We aren't sleeping together?"
"Oh, you want to sleep together?" His eyebrows shot straight up as well as mine. Mine was for a different reason entirely.
"No! That's not what I meant!" I felt my face heating up.
"I think I made an extreme miscalculation, that needs to be undone."
"No need! Don't worry!" I opened the door and closed it shut behind me almost instantly.
I heard a series of chuckles on the other side of the door. "I'll come to get you in an hour for the banquet. Your dress should be on the bed."
That's when my eyes raised enough to spot the bed. My heart almost stopped dead in my chest.
It was a beautiful green elven dress.
