She couldn't believe her ears. Found it difficult to believe.
"David I...I can't believe you felt that way about me." She almost whispered. "I had always thought you just disliked me for no reason or reasons best known to you, giving the way you had always distanced yourself from me after you returned at that time."
"Far from it." He said firmly. "I was only afraid of my feelings and desire for you and more afraid that I could lose the little self control I had if I didn't put a good distance between the two of us. Belle, it has only always been you and will always be you. That's why I couldn't bear the pain that burned through me when I saw you in bed with Dominic."
"David, I never had sex with Dominic after we got married. I know you might find it hard to believe but..."
"I know." He said.
She blinked. "You do?"
He nodded. "I overheard him telling Lydia that nothing had happened between you two on the occasions that I saw you both in his house together. He only made it seem so to spite me."
Exactly! That was something Dominic was capable of. She stilled when she registered the remaining words.
"Wait, you overhead him telling Lydia that?" She asked in confusion. "Why would be be having that kind of discussion with my younger sister?"
David scowled then took a deep breath.
"He's not who you think he is."
She looked at him with wide curious eyes. "What are you talking about?"
He hesitated, his expression softening. "I wouldn't want you to hurt you with this knowledge..."
"Say it David," she interrupted. "I do not want to be kept in the dark about anything concerning me anymore."
He sighed again. Then the scowl suddenly returned to his face. "That b*stard was the one you had caught in bed with Lydia thinking it was me all those years ago."
Annabelle froze in shock. "What? I thought she said it was her boyfriend D, as in Damian?"

"Nope," He shook his head. "It was Dominic. The 'D' was Dominic. And that affair wasn't the first nor the last time it had happened. Belle he...he had connived with Lydia and Monalisa to stage the last incident that had caused our divorce. They didn't talk about how they achieved that but...they succeeded." He finished regretfully, remembering how he had doubted and wrongfully accused her when he saw her in Dominic's bed.
Annabelle covered her mouth in horror. Dominic who had acted as her strength and comforter back then had been sleeping with her sister? If she had heard this elsewhere, she wouldn't have believed it.
She wasn't hurt, just shocked. Well if she had found about it at that time, she probably would have been hurt.
So Dominic had also been an enemy.
"How and when did you learn of these?" She asked.
"It was on the night of that party hosted by the Eagles." He said. "Lydia was in that party."
"Really?" Annabelle frowned. "What was she doing there?"
"Apparently, he had invited her." He said, then frowned. "I think you and Samuels had a fight at the balcony that night, because when we walked in on them both undetected, he was angrily complaining to her on how stubborn and difficult you were and how you had hurled insults at him."
"We?" She asked.
"Derek was with me." He replied.
"Oh." Annabelle muttered then scowled. "Well, Dominic deserved everything I said to him that night."
David smiled. "I'm sure he did."
"What else did they talk about?" She asked.
He shrugged. "Well, at that point I decided that I had heard enough so we left."
Annabelle sighed. "Why didn't you tell me all these after you found out? Why now?"
He sighed. "I forgot to mention that I was going to walk up to him and give him the beating of his life after I found out he was one of those who were behind our divorce but Derek stopped me. Said it was better we left without been seen and keep the information to ourselves for the meantime. I wanted to tell you but I was afraid you would never have believed me because you loved him and..."

She placed her finger on his lips, hushing him.
"Shhh." She cupped his face in her hands. "David, you're the only man I have ever truly loved, even before I understood what love is."
She felt him still under her touch.
"What?" He whispered, like he couldn't believe what he had just heard.
"I have always loved you, David." She said softly. "I never stopped loving you, I still do and I always will."
"Can you repeat that?" He whispered again.
She smiled. "I love you David."
He started to smile then suddenly stopped.
Annabelle frowned. "What's wring?"
He knelt down facing her. "Belle I'm so..."
"No David," she knelt facing him too and wrapping her hands around his neck as she looked deep into his eyes. "None of this was your fault. You were as much a victim as I was so I won't have you blaming yourself for what happened."
"But I should have believed you." He said, tears pooling in his eyes. This was the first time she had ever seen him in tears. Her heart broke. "I should have fought harder for our marriage, shouldn't have let you go through the phase of pregnancy and raising our children all by yourself...."
She pulled his head to her shoulder and embraced him tightly to calm his pain. She understood the guilt and hurt he was going through.
"I don't deserve you," his voice broke through his tears. "But I just can't let you go."
Tears pooled in her eyes too and she held him tighter.
"It's okay babe." She said and he held her tighter. "I forgive you for everything. But I also want you to know that it wasn't your fault."
She gently pulled back and looked into his tear filled eyes.
"David I love you and I'm here for you and with you."
"God, I love you more." He declared as his lips met hers in a kiss like no other.
When they finally pulled away, she smiled.
"And yes, I will marry you again Mr Maxwell."
He grinned and sighed in relief. "You don't know how happy I am to hear you say that."

"...So I was really shocked when you asked for my body of all things!" She laughed, remembering the time she had wanted his help and he had asked for a night with her in return.
"You don't know how irresistible you are to me." He said with a smile as he caressed her hair while she lay on him. "And I wanted to have you again at all cost, I'm so sorry for taking advantage of you."
She lifted her head and pecked him on his lips. "We've already gone past that stage, Dave."
He sighed then kissed her again.
"So what about the other woman that had also wanted the same favor from you? What was her name again?" She asked with an eye roll.
David chuckled. "Laila. I still fulfilled my promise to her."
Annabelle frowned. "But my company got the contract."
"Laila had asked for two favors from me and I promised her I was gonna fulfill one." He said. "I had had it in mind to assist her with the LV one until a certain temptation in human flesh came to my office and completely changed my mind." That made her smile. "I had to assist her with the other favor."
She looked at him. "Have you two..." she trailed off and he chuckled.
"I have never been into married women." He said in both amusement and seriousness. "Laila is happily married with a nineteen year old child, Peter as the first of her three children."
"What? I thought she was a..."
"Stunningly beautiful and sexy single young lady that I was sleeping with?" He laughed. "I've really missed you."
"Well what was I to think!" She said in embarrassment as he kept chuckling.
He kissed her forehead. "I only have eyes for you and you alone."
She smiled at him. "I know."
A thought crossed her mind and she frowned.
"What's on your mind?" He asked.
"Just thinking of ways to make them pay for all they did to us." She said fiercely.
