"Congratulations Miss Rowland, your company has been offered the contract."

She didn't think she'd still get the contract after what she did the previous weekend at David's apartment.

For some reasons, the contract that she had worked so hard to get suddenly didn't matter to her that much anymore. Maybe it was the way she had gotten it, she couldn't tell.

She felt guilty for what had happened at David's apartment with Chanel. She knew she must have caused problems between them that night and she was beginning to feel bad. It made her not different from Chanel. It was something that someone like Chanel would have done and not her, herself.

But she had done it.

She contemplated calling him to apologize then thank him for still keeping to his promise despite her bad behavior but decided against it. He prolly wouldn't even want to talk to her.

As she came into the house from work, the heated night of their lovemaking, if she could call it that, occupied her mind again as it always had ever since and each time she thought of it, a sweet ache courses through her abdomen to her womanhood.

She knew it would be like this if she let him touch her again and she had allowed it. Now she had to face the consequences.

"Welcome honey." Ingrid greeted her as she came downstairs.

"Hi mum." She smiled as she flopped tiredly on the sofa.

"Congratulations my love." Ingrid grinned. "You have achieved what even I couldn't achieve. I'm so proud of you."

"Thank you mum."

"How were you able to do it!? Ingrid asked excitedly.

"It was David." She said lowly.

"Really?" Ingrid asked, surprised and curious. "Tell me about it."

She shook her head. "Trust me, you don't wanna know."

Ingrid shrugged slightly. "If you say so dear. But always remember that whenever you need someone to talk to, I'll always be there."

She smiled her thanks. "Thank you mum, will keep that in mind."

Ingrid nodded.

"Now go upstairs, freshen up and come down for dinner while I get my grand kids. We need to celebrate this!"

Ingrid said as she gently pushed her daughter up the stairs, their laughter echoing in the house.

"Congratulations Anna, I'm proud of you." Dominic said with a grin.

"Thank you Dominic." Annabelle smiled back.

They were sitting in the park watching the twins as they played together with other children.

"How were you able to pull that off?" He asked. "I mean it's really difficult to get a contract from that brand without a good connection."

She smiled half heartedly. "I guess I was lucky to find someone who was highly connected to be my plug."

"I'm really happy for you." He said. "Your mum must be so proud."

Annabelle laughed. "She has been gushing about it to her friends."

Dominic grinned and looked at her lovingly. "Which mother wouldn't?"

Sandra decided to feel like a big girl, thereby ditching her brother and her newfound friend to chase after a colorful butterfly that seemed to call on her.

She was drawn to the beautiful creature and unobtrusively slipped away and chased the butterfly as it flew further away into the park filled with a maze of beautiful trees and plants.

"Hey!" She screamed excitedly. "Come back here you pwetty little thing."

The butterfly of course, didn't listen and kept flying until it disappeared behind a giant tree and she couldn't find it again.

"Not fair!" She cried. "Come back!"

After waiting for a few minutes without seeing her butterfly again, she turned to go back then halted.

She looked around confused, then it dawned on her that she had lost her way.

"You could have kept an eye on your sister Sam!" Annabelle said frustratingly as they couldn't find Sandra. "Oh my God, this is all my fault, I shouldn't have looked away from them."

"Calm down Annabelle," Dominic soothed gently. "She's definitely around here somewhere. We only have to look for her."

"I'm sowie mummy." Sam said with a sniff and tearful eyes.

She looked at him, all cute and sad and felt bad immediately for talking to him the way she had. It wasn't her little boy's fault. For he was still a child too.

She held out her hand to him.

"Come here baby." She said gently with a teary eye and he quickly slid into her embrace. "It's not your fault my love, I'm sorry I yelled at you."

He nodded child-likely. "It's ok mummy. Let's find Sandy."

Annabelle looked around. The park was a very big place filled with trees and plants that even an adult could lost their way in them.

She sighed in despair, asking God to protect her daughter as she and Dominic set out to look for her, leaving Samuel under a friend's temporary care.

The tears began to stream down Sandra's cheeks as she still couldn't find her way back to her beloved mother and brother.

Dusk was approaching and the little girl became more scared. Would she ever see her twin brother and mother again?

The horror stories and movies she had heard and watched took hold of her and she started to cry as she ran, not knowing where she was even going to.

She was determined to get back to her family even though she was really scared.

She ran and ran until she got tired then flopped in the roots of a huge tree and cried harder calling for her mother and brother. She wanted to see them again.

"What's the matter little one?" A deep gentle voice said and she pried her eyes open.

The stranger was a tall and kind looking man and she jumped up and grabbed his leg in a tight embrace.

"Pwease don't leave me here." She wailed. "I want to see my mummy and Sammy!"

David had just had a very unfulfilling picnic with Chanel that ended in a disaster and it was all Chanel's idea. The woman had whined and pouted for them to have a picnic and after all her preparations, she ended up messing everything up as a result of her jealousy.

She had stormed away from the picnic setting and Daniel was also finding his way back when he saw the little figure of a female child hunched over at the base of a huge tree and crying her eyes out. He wondered what a child was doing in the woods at that time of the evening. Maybe she had lost her way?

He came closer as she hadn't noticed his presence yet.

"What's the matter little one?" He gently asked and she sharply looked up.

She was a beautiful child and her face reminded him of someone.

Suddenly she jumped and grabbed hold of his leg and he started.

"Pwease don't leave me here." She cried. "I want to see my mummy and Sammy!"

He relaxed and gently rubbed her hair. "What's your name angel?"

"Sandwa." She said, her voice muffled as she still held tight.

"Okay Sandra, you seem to have lost your way." He said. "Where's your mummy and Sammy?"

"They must be looking for me." She cried. "Pwease take me to them. I pwomise I won't run off on my own again."

"It's okay Sandra, stop crying." He soothes. "We're going to find your mummy and Sammy okay?"

She nodded and he picked her up and set out of the woods.

"Calm down Anna, we've already alerted the guides, I'm sure they'll find her even before we do."

Dominic reassured.

"Oh God please protect my baby." Annabelle cried. "This is all my fault."

They had been searching for almost an hour, still no sign of Sandra.

"What if something had happened to her? I would never forgive myself."

"Stop it Annabelle." Dominic gently scolded. "We will find her. Just be positive."

"I still maintain that it was my fault!" She shouted angrily. "If I had paid more attention to them and not what you were saying, this wouldn't have happened!"

"Annabelle!" Dominic called with wide confused eyes.

"Don't talk to m-"

"Mummy!"

Annabelle sharply halted as she heard her daughter's voice. "Sandra!?"

She turned towards the direction Sandra's voice came from and froze when she saw her baby, their baby with him.

David, who easily found his way around the woods kept walking with the little girl still in his arms. The girl had stopped crying and was staring ahead eager to find her people again.

She reminded him so much of someone.

Just then, they heard voices and one of the voices, the female one sounded familiar. He moved towards that direction with Sandra and halted in his tracks when he saw the two people that were arguing.

At first, he was confused, wondering what they were doing there all alone and why they were arguing.

But then he froze in shock when the little girl called her 'mummy' and wriggled out of his arms to go meet her.

Mummy?

😊
