《Married But Single》Chapter 27

She gasped.

She didn't know what she had expected he would ask for in return but it was definitely not this.

Her body? Of all things? Does that even mean she was still desirable to him?

No, she couldn't let him have her body like that again!

He would surely intoxicate her and it would be difficult to get him off her system again.

She didn't want to get under his spell. Again.

"I - I," She shook her head. "Isn't there something else I could do, David?"

He shrugged. "None that I can think of." He said sitting back, his frame following the rhythm of his swivel chair.

She couldn't risk this. The last thing she wanted was to start having wet dreams that featured him or the thoughts of him and the sex occupying her head.

He would make her addicted to him. She knew him.

"I can't sleep with you, David." She said calmly but firmly. "There has to be something else I could do."

His face gave away no reaction or emotion. Just expressionless.

"You have nothing that I want or desire, Annabelle." He said smoothly. "Nothing but your body."

"But you have a fiancée." She tried again.

"And that's my problem, not yours." He said smoothly.

"I - I can't..."

"I'm not forcing you," he interrupted. "I would never do that."

"You can't do this to me David." She almost wailed.

"I have given you my terms," he said. "Take it or leave it." He said dismissively.

She became quiet when she saw his seriousness and knew that nothing was going to change his mind.

"Can I give you an answer later?" She asked.

"Take your time," he said. "Do remember though, that time is running out."

She couldn't even tell her mother about it. Ingrid would never agree to let her daughter do that for a contract.

She was torn between doing what she craved and not doing it at the same time to avoid certain risks.

And the biggest problem of all was that, she was still attracted to him and desired him too. And the last thing she wanted was giving in to temptation, because David was temptation itself in human flesh and sometimes giving in to temptation could turn out to be one's downfall.

Was fate working against her? She remembered what had transpired between David and herself at the restroom in the restaurant almost two weeks ago.

*flashback*

"Not so fast darling." He smirked. "I know you can't wait to touch me but I'd rather have those hands on my body in a more gentle or sexually violent manner."

"Bastard." She gritted then sharply pulled her arm away from his hold. "That'll be over my dead body!"

He laughed.

"Never say never my dear." He said smoothly. "If I want you again, believe me I'll have you."

"Not on your life!" She said firmly. "I am no longer yours and can never again be. Even you made that clear six years ago. So stay away from me David Maxwell."

*flashback ends*

"Oh lord." She sighed wearily.

At four that evening, when she was looking forward to going back home to think better, her PA who had completely become submissive over the weeks called her intercom and she received.

"Madam there's someone here to see you, One Chanel Wilson."

Annabelle frowned. Chanel was here to see her?

"Let her in." She said.

"Okay ma'am."

Few seconds later, the door opened to reveal a Chanel who was not smiling at all.

She hadn't changed at all. She was still as beautiful and fit as she was years back.

"Hello Chanel, please sit." She said politely.

"I am not here for pleasantries nor to waste my time." Chanel said drily. "We have never been polite with each other and we're not starting now."

Annabelle then turned on her confident, bossy side.

"Well, I don't really blame you because not everyone knows the first thing about being civilized. State your business and leave woman. As you can see I'm very busy."

Chanel clapped her hands in mockery. "I can see you have grown wings, congratulations! The timid nerd has been transformed into the school's Queen Bee."

Annabelle smirked anyway at her sarcasm. "Perks of being the daughter of an influential woman and CEO of a prestigious textile company."

Chanel scowled. "Now listen, I don't give a damn if you became the daughter of Jeff Bezos himself. You will always be plain, pathetic Annabelle Thompson to me."

"Except that my surname has changed, hasn't it?" Annabelle said thoughtfully. "For the last time woman, state your business and leave."

"Since you disappeared off to God knows where, everyone has been happy and everything has been peaceful." Chanel said scathingly. "But ever since you returned, the earth has lost her balance again."

"Go straight to the point Chanel," Annabelle drawled. "Because I am just a minute away from having you thrown out of this building."

Chanel scoffed. "You wouldn't dare."

Annabelle's eyes narrowed. "Watch me." She made to rap on the intercom when Chanel's voice stopped her.

"Oh you are even going to." She laughed nervously. "Not necessary because I'll be leaving this dump site of an office at any moment from now."

"Just know that on your way out, I'll be disinfecting my office off your presence." Annabelle said and Chanel scowled slightly. "I wouldn't want your remains hovering around and polluting the building."

"You whore!" She snapped, losing her cool. "Stay away from my fiancé! David is my fiancé now and we'll soon be getting married so keep your dirty claws off him! I don't know why you were in his office today, alone with him, but I'm warning you Annabelle Thompson, stay away from him because he belongs to me!"

Annabelle paused then laughed. "Oh lord Chanel, is that what you came all the way to my office to tell me? I have no interest in your fiancé, not anymore."

"Why then were you at his office?"

Annabelle shrugged. "Business."

"And what kind of business is it that you have with him?" Chanel asked, already seething.

"A business that is not your business!" Annabelle snapped. "Now listen here Miss, I do not see any reason why I can not hold any formal meeting with a business man like David just because of our past. What is your problem with it anyway? No one, including you can stop me from doing business with his company whenever any turns up."

Chanel scowled. "You are just a dirty whore! I never want to see or hear of you two been together in any...."

Annabelle smirked. "Why? Are you scared that he might come running back into my bed?"

Chanel hissed. "David is disgusted by you. So come down from your high horse because that's never going to happen."

It could happen tonight if I want.

Annabelle smiled. "Then why are you being insecure, Chanel? It doesn't look good on you."

"I have told you all I that came here to say," Chanel gritted. "For the last time, stay away from him or else...?"

That ignited the anger in Annabelle. "Or else what? You dare not come in here and threaten me you bitch!"

Chanel's hand went up high to land a slap on Annabelle's cheek but Annabelle caught her hand and twisted it.

"Ouch!" Chanel screamed. "Let go of me you slut!"

"Don't you ever try that again." Annabelle gritted. "You aren't going to be this lucky next time." She sharply released her hand. "Now get out!"

"I'm leaving anyway." Chanel snapped. "Heed my warning and stay away from my man."

Then she turned and stormed out of the office.

Annabelle regretted instantly why she didn't hit her as anger clouded her heart.

But the bitch had unknowingly just helped her make her decision.

She grabbed her phone and dialed his number.

"I'll do it."

💎❤️💎

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Her mind kept screaming as she got dressed that evening to meet him.

She was really going through with this.

As she drove towards his penthouse, she started to wonder if she had been too hasty in deciding. She knew her decision had been taken at that time as a result of her anger and she blasted herself for making a decision in an angry mood.

He had moved to a new penthouse.

As she went up the elevator to his floor, the beating of her heart multiplied by three.

How was she going to get through tonight like this?

She rang the doorbell as she came to his floor and waited, her nerves on high.

The door opened and her breath got caught in her throat, her nervousness dying away and was quickly replaced by desire as she beheld him.

Dressed in just casual joggers and a v-neck fitted polo shirt, he oozed sex appeal.

His outfit gave away the lines of his tall and muscular body and she felt like jumping on his sexiness.

David was indeed temptation in human flesh.

He gave that signature sexy smile of his and she felt her throat dry off.

"You came." He said huskily. "I didn't believe you would."

She cleared her throat. "I don't go back on my words."

He stepped aside to allow her entry and she walked into the luxuriously furnished apartment.

She looked around briefly as he closed the door and sighed in approval. He had always been a lover of luxury and high taste.

He asked what she would like to take and she asked for a very strong drink.

He looked surprised but went to get her one anyway.

She wasn't used to taking strong alcohol but she needed the drink tonight to calm her nerves and bring out the dominant, alpha female side of her. In bed.

As much as she wouldn't want to admit it to herself, she wanted him too and didn't want to disappoint him tonight.

She wanted to make him realize what he had been missing.

And she didn't even know why she wanted that.
