《Married But Single》Chapter 10

Annabelle smiled to herself for the umpteenth time as she recalled what had happened the previous night.

She found it difficult to concentrate on the work before her and she forced herself to erase the erotic images from her mind, at least for the meantime.

The pure and earth shattering bliss she felt was beyond her expectations and she found herself wanting more of him.

It's possible though, that he wasn't thinking of last night as she was. He probably took it as a casual fling but to her, it was much more than that. It was an intense feeling of satisfaction and euphoria that could be likened to...love? Never!

She sat up. She'd better take her mind off such notions and focus on her work. She was the company's vice president so she had to act like one and not some lovesick fool. But she definitely couldn't stop the flashing images that evaded her mind and caused wetness in her core.

She shifted in her seat, suddenly having the urge to dry hump and scolded herself.

That's what that blasted man was making her crave.

When it was time to go home, she stood up abruptly, left her office and found herself heading to her husband's office.

When she got to his secretary's desk, the woman stopped her as usual.

"Mr Maxwell is not around, madam." She said drily and Annabelle frowned.

"He went out?"

"He has gone out for dinner."

Gloria replied.

Dinner at five? But... She shook her head lightly and gave a fake smile.

"Oh, he mentioned he'll be having a business dinner. I forgot." She lied.

Gloria looked up at her with an amused expression.

"Oh, did he mention he'll be having that dinner with Chanel?"

Annabelle gasped inwardly. Chanel? But not wanting the other woman to see her defeated, she still pasted the smile on her face and raised her chin at the woman.

"He did," she replied. "Got a problem with that?"

Gloria frowned. "Oh..."

Annabelle smiled widely. Glad that she had won this time even though she had had to pretend.

"Have a good evening, Gloria."

She smirked and left.

As she was walking to the car that the driver had brought around, she found herself shaking slightly as questions whirled around her head.

Was he really having dinner with Chanel and not her, his wife? Especially after what they had shared last night? She shook her head as she slid into the car while the driver held the door and shut it after she went in.

"Where madam?" He asked as he slid into the driver's seat.

"The Palatial restaurant." She said firmly and the driver manoeuvred the car and headed over to David's favourite restaurant.

Annabelle saw them just as she sat down. They were in a secluded corner talking and smiling like a couple in love.

She felt an unfamiliar tightening in her stomach as she watched the two of them and wrenched her eyes away.

After the night of passion they had till the early hours of the morning, she had thought some certain things would change in their lives.

Yes, he had driven her to work this morning in a good mood, but she expected more. She didn't know exactly what she had expected but she did know that she expected more from him. Not this, this she was...

"Welcome to The Palatial, madam." A beautiful, smiling waitress said. "What can I get you?"

"Uhm, I'm really sorry, but I'm leaving already, I just got a call that I'm needed at the office." She said. She just couldn't stay after seeing them.

"It's okay madam, hope you come again."

Annabelle smiled. "Sure I will."

Engrossed in her thoughts on what she just encountered, she bumped on someone who was also trying to leave the restaurant.

"I'm so sorry." She said, not even looking up at the person and continued moving when a strong hand wound around her arm.

She thought the person wanted trouble and turned to give it to whoever he was.

"I thought I apo..." She started angrily and froze when she discovered that it was indeed a very familiar face.

"Dominic."

Dominic grinned. "The very one, baby."

"What are you doing here?" She asked nervously.

"I obviously came to eat." He said in amusement.

"Right. But I didn't know you come here as well."

He shrugged. "Just decided to try out the place today and I can assure you that I wasn't disappointed."

Annabelle knew that there was more to that statement than just a compliment about the restaurant.

"You can say it Dominic." She murmured.

He sighed and the amusement on his face disappeared.

"I know you saw them, Anne."

"I did." She said drily.

"I don't like it when you're hurt."

He said huskily.

"Who told you that I am?" She asked icily.

"You just snapped at me." He said gently. "That's enough evidence for me to know that you're hurt. And who knows what you would have done or how you would have reacted if you had seen them when they were kissing."

Annabelle looked at him sharply, then lowered her head. They even kissed.

"Now I'm hurting you." Dominic said with concern in his face.

"No, I have to go." She turned to leave but he held her hand.

"Let me drop you off at home." He offered. She shook her head but he persisted. "Please?"

"I came with the driver."

"He can go home on his own."

She hesitated, then found herself nodding in agreement.

"Can I come in?" Dominic asked and she nodded.

"Since he is with her now, I'm not even sure he'll be coming home tonight."

"Great!" He said excitedly and she looked at him pointedly.

"That doesn't mean you're staying over." She said.

"Ops."

They entered the mansion and she took him to the private sitting room. He walked to the bar like he owned it and poured drinks for them both.

He handed one to her and looked around.

"I must say that Maxwell has done very well for himself."

Annabelle nodded absently. Her mind kept going over the events of both the previous night and today's encounter. Was it that she didn't satisfy him enough. Or maybe Chanel was better than she was in bed.

Oh what was she saying, of course the lady would be more experienced than she was. She looked like someone who sexercised often.

And the award for the most stupid woman of the year goes to... Annabelle Maxwell!

She was a fool. A big damned fool. How could she have allowed herself to even think that she would be special to him after they made love. To him, she might have just been an addition to the list of his conquests. To him, they had just had sex, not made love.

How could she have allowed him access to her body? How? If only she could turn back the hands of time...

"Annabelle!" Dominic shook her and she jumped.

"Huh?"

"You've not been listening to what I've been saying. Are you alright?"

She nodded. "Yes, yes I am."

"Ann," he called softly with puppy dog eyes. "You're actually hurting me. It seems as if my being with you right now doesn't matter to you when it does to me, a lot."

"Dom, it's not like that," she sighed. "I'm sorry, it's just that..."

"You're worrying yourself over a man who clearly has no morals and no respect for you." He said angrily.

He was right but it just hurt that she was trying to at least make the marriage a respectful one but her husband's misbehavior was getting out of hand.

Tears rolled down her cheek and Dominic was at her side immediately.

"Baby what is it?" He asked gently. "I've made you cry."

She shook her head as more tears came down but he gathered her in his eyes, murmuring words of comfort.

The feel of his arms was soothing and comforting but she was already getting familiar with another pair of stronger arms.

She let him when he raised her chin and placed his lips on hers. For a moment, she felt like withdrawing but then convinced herself that her so called husband was probably doing the same thing now.

His hands glided up and down her arms slowly and seductively and she hesitantly placed her hands on his chest, all the while convincing herself that David wouldn't even care what she was doing at the moment.

The kiss got deep and intense and she could feel the bulge in Dominic's pants press against her thigh. He wanted more but she wouldn't allow him, not here anyway.

"I love you, Ann." He whispered as he placed kisses on her neck.

"I...I lo-"

"What the...?" A familiar voice sounded gruffly before Dominic was forcefully wrenched away from her.

She looked up to see the angrily stiff back of David as he threw a punch on Dominic's face so hard that she winced. The impact had Dominic falling down on the floor and her eyes widened as David followed him and raised his fist to deliver another blow.

"No! Stop!" She exclaimed and rushed over to them to hold David's arm with her two hands.

David glanced at her with fury in his eyes.

"Step back."

"No! That's enough." She wailed and he saw the tears on her cheeks. "Please."

His face softened but he glared at Dominic and raised the bruised man with a bloody mouth up on his feet by his collar.

"You have the nerve coming into my house and even," he grimaced. "Kissing my wife in my house!"

"That's because you do nothing but hurt her, Maxwell." Dominic replied hoarsely.

"She is my woman and I won't see her hurt and let her be."

Annabelle gasped at Dominic's foolish braveness and didn't miss the tightening on David's jaw before he delivered another hard fist on Dominic's already bruised face.

"She is not yours and can never again be." He said coldly. "And if I ever see you around my wife or these premises again, I will kill you, Samuels." He said dangerously calm. "Now get your bloody self out of my house before I do something worse."

Dominic quickly got up and left the room, holding his bloody jaw.

After glaring at the door Dominic just walked past, David turned to glare at her too, his eyes filled with fury.

"You..."

She raised her hand up, silencing him.

"Don't even start."

She said and made to walk past him but he caught her arm in a tight grip.

"Don't you walk away from me." He growled.

"You think I'm afraid of you?" She asked angrily, looking back up at him with blazing eyes. "I'll answer that, I am not! And the quicker you get that into your thick skull, the better for you, now let go of my arm!"

"Why was he here?" He asked in the same dangerously calm voice. "Why was he kissing you?"

She raised her chin, wishing she was on eight inch heels.

"Because I wanted him to!"

He absently held her arm tighter and she winced.

"You wanted him to?" He spat angrily.

"Yes! I wanted him to and I still want him now!"

Uh oh, that came out wrong. Annabelle thought as his eyes blazed in anger.

He became so angry and the fury in his eyes frightened and funny enough, excited her at the same time.

"You want sex?" He asked icily as a hint of desire crossed his angry eyes. "I'll give you sex."

And with that, he jammed her body into his and crashed her lips with his.
