《Moonlight ✔︎》Chapter 66

I took a seat at the table as Angel's chef began preparing breakfast; I was alone in the kitchen while Angel went to shower.

But before he did, he gave me some tylenol since my head was throbbing and I felt like it was about to burst inside of me.

I was scrolling through my new phone, looking through social media at random, when I heard footsteps approaching.

Angel stepped out of the doorway and walked over to me.

I moved my body towards him as he sat down next to me, his cologne and fresh scent filling my nostrils.

A maid entered and placed the stack of pancakes on the table for me; I thanked her and she nodded back.

When I peered down at the syrupy sweetness, my mouth started to water.

I snatched up the fork and dove right in.

"There's a ball on tonight. Come with me?" Angel asks, wrapping one of my locks over his finger and staring intently at me.

I gazed into his eyes and nodded before digging back into the pancakes, not trusting my words at the moment.

I continued to eat while Angel talked on the phone, his hand unknowingly playing with my hair in the process.

I didn't mind, even though I wasn't paying attention because I was too preoccupied with my food.

After I finished, the maid took my plate, I offered to clean it, but she refused, and Angel gave me a look and said, 'that's her job,' though I hate it when people clean after me, it makes me feel terrible.

I had returned upstairs and showered before changing into some more comfortable clothing. Angel had to tend to some business, leaving me alone in his luxurious mansion for the day.

I had randomly cooked a chocolate cake to keep myself occupied, and I had faced timed Ian and Miya about what I should wear to the ball tonight. Luckily, I was a clothes hoarder, so I had plenty of dress options.

The time had passed, and it was now 5:00 p.m.

I had just finished getting ready when Angel walked in the doorway as I was pulling on my heels.

As I took his appearance in, I beamed up at him.

He was attired in a black suit and appeared to be more than god-like at this point.

His hair was normal, drooping lazily over his forehead.

I approached him as I saw his eyes adjust to my look. They darkened instantly as his hand reached out and pulled me into him.

He dips his head into the crook of my neck and kisses it.

"Sto provando così tanto a non portarti su questo letto in questo momento." He whispers huskily.

Translation; I am trying so hard not to take you on this bed right now.

I received shivers from the sound of his thick accent, and his voice, let alone his touch, made me weak in the knees.

He takes a step back, his eyes locked on me.

He pulls a strand of my hair behind my ear and murmurs, "Beautiful."

"You look pretty too," I reply with a bashful smile as I flush and place my palm on his chest.

He chuckles and shakes his head before leaning his head against my shoulder.

I wrap my hands around my neck, sliding my fingers behind his neck in a motion that seemed to calm him down.

We stayed in this position for a bit until he pulled back.

"Ready?" He asks, his gaze falling on his watch.

As we walked out of his room, I nodded and wrapped my arm with his.

As Angel and I entered the familiar mansion, everyone's gaze seemed to be drawn to us.

As men gazed at me lustfully and women gave me specific glances of envy or jealousy, I shifted uncomfortably.

Angel took his gun from his back pocket and casually held it to his side. Their gazes vanished as they returned to their conversations.

"What?" He says glancing down at me.

"Nothing..." I shrug and avert my attention from his cold stare.

I felt him roll his eyes as he tugged on my hand and began to lead us away.

He led us over to his parents, where Marina recognised us right away and gave me a big smile.

"How are you, darling?" Marina asks as she approaches me and pulls me into her arms.

"I'm okay, Mrs Romano," I smile back and wrap my arms around her slim waist.

She pulls back and smacks my arm playfully. "I told you, it's Marina," she says and then smiles at me.

"Sorry," I say, blushing and looking down at my hands.

"I'm so sorry about Tyson, love." She says taking my hand and squeezing it.

I give her a warm gesture and tell her she doesn't have to apologise.

After she greeted Angel, she had gone back to her husband who was now talking to some men.

"Thirsty?" Angel asked me.

"Yeah, but no alcohol," I say, recalling the pain I was in this morning.

He nods and turns his gaze away from me.

"I'll be back," He adds, and I nod as I awkwardly stand in the middle of the room watching him leave.

Fortunately, a familiar face approaches me.

"Kian!" I squeal as I see him.

"Hey, D," He greets, grinning at me as he pulls me to him.

I hug him back right away, feeling a slight tug on my heart as he does so. Kian was Tyson's best friend, hence he reminded me of him right away.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you, D," He contended as he looked at me, his eyes were filled with sadness and grief.

"I was okay, I had Angel." I tell him, a smile on my face.

"I went to the cemetery right after I got off the plane yesterday." He informs me.

"I'm glad."

"But, how are you doing? I'm sure it's been hard for you as well..." I ask, resting my hand on his arm for reassurance.

He mumbles, gazing down at his shoes, "Yeah, it's hard."

"Anyhow, did you get into the college you wanted to go to?" He asks, changing the subject.

"Yup, sure did." I grin.

"Wow, D, that's great! I'm really proud of you!" He exclaims.

Suddenly, an arm encircles my waist and pulls me securely to their side. I immediately looked up and saw Angel.

As he glanced at Kian in front of him, his eyes were darkened.

I cleared my throat and smiled up at Kian as the tension began to build.

"I'll see you around, yeah?" I ask him.

He smiles warmly as he looks down at me and nods.

"Of course, take care D, let me know if you ever need anything,"

"Will do." I smile and tug on Angel's hand as I walked us away.

"Glaring at people will only get you so far," I mumble to him.

His deep laugh fills my ears, and I turn around to face him.

"It's gotten me this far, moonlight." He says this as he hands me the champagne glass he brought me, though it was half-filled with orange liquid.

"What's this?" I ask raising an eyebrow.

He shrugs and licks his lips.

"Juice," He replies casually as his gaze shifts around the ballroom.

I giggle and take a sip, it indeed was just plain orange juice, not that I'm complaining.

"Daisy!" Lycian yelled from across the room.

As the others surrounding him glare at him for shouting, I laugh slightly.

He approached me and drew me into his arms.

"I miss you!" He hugged me to his chest, mumbling.

"It's been a day," I mention.

He shrugs and pushes away, smirking, "Far too long for me."

His arms lingered on my waist and Angel slapped his arm away casually, as he looked around like he hadn't done anything.

As he glared at Angel, Lycian frowned and rubbed his arm.

"I've got a boyfriend, idiot." Lycian mumbled.

"Doesn't mean shít." Angel looks at him coldly.

Lycian looked over at me with a shake of his head.

"So, what are your plans for break?" Lycian asks as he moves his eyes from Angel to me.

Angel gives him a hard stare before shifting his focus to me and then averting his sight.

Sus.

"Um, nothing. How about you?" I ask him, sipping my juice.

"Actually," He starts but Angel cut him off.

"Lycian." Angel warns in a threatening tone.

Lycian clears his throat and smiles at me sheepishly.

"I'm leaving now, you two have fun." He says and gives me a short hug before walking away.

I smile as I shake my head at his attitude.

Angel and I lingered a little longer; some people spoke to him while he listened, but his gaze was always fixed on me.

He and his father also talked for a bit, and Carlos seemed to be a little kinder to me, allowing me to shake his hand instead of giving me a blank face or a nod when I greeted him.

We were getting close to the dance floor, and my gaze was drawn to all of the beautiful women and males swaying to the lovely music.

"Dance?" Angel asks, nodding his head towards the dance floor.

"Sure." I respond.

He takes my hand in his and pulls me towards the dance floor.

As people danced with each other, the elegant music in the background played softly.

It looked like something out of a Disney film, and it made my inner child squeal with delight.

We made it to the middle of the floor, Angel had placed his hands on my waist while mine wrapped around his neck, my hands lacing together.

"I'm not a very good dancer," I admit, slightly blushing.

He stares into my eyes, a little twinkle in his eyes making my heart skip a beat.

"Just follow my movements." He explains.

We began to sway and dance quietly to the music, our eyes focused on each other.

As he gently twirled me around, a smile grew across my face, and a small giggle escaped my lips.

He smiled down at me, revealing the little dimples that always made my heart flutter.

We continued to dance, our hearts becoming entwined with the emotion we were both experiencing at the time.

Minutes stretched into something longer, and people began to depart the floor one by one.

Angel and I drew apart, he leant in close to my ear, his hands lingering on my lower back, the sensation etching itself into my flesh.

"I want to take you somewhere," He whispers.

His lips are hovering over mine as he draws back a little.

I give him a soft nod and a warm smile.

"Okay, let's go," I say, my hand laced through his large one.

He nods and walks away, escorting us from the glistening mansion.
