《Moonlight ✔︎》Chapter 63

"I'm so sorry, Daisy." Ian says this as he pulls me into a hug.

As he rubs my back, I place my head on his chest.

"Don't apologise; I'm okay." I tell him.

He takes a step back and smiles sympathetically at me.

My gaze is drawn to Miya, who stands behind him.

Her face was puffy and her eyes were red, most likely from crying.

She approached me and immediately drew me into her arms.

As her head rested on my shoulder, my shirt became damp. My arms were wrapped around her waist as I gently caressed her back.

"How are you doing?" As she pulls her head back, I ask her softly.

"I'm doing okay," she says, smiling through her tears.

"I'm really sorry about Tyson I know he wa-

"It's okay." I put my hand on her shoulder and cut her off.

She nods and lets out a nervous breath.

"Okay guys, let's go take a seat, I'm starving," Ian announces.

As they stroll towards a seat near the window, I nod and walk behind them.

I take a seat across from Ian and Miya and a waitress approaches us.

"What can I get you?" She asks her gaze primarily on Ian.

Miya also notices it and rolls her eyes.

As I watched Ian's obliviousness, I restrained a giggle from escaping my mouth.

"A vanilla milkshake, please." Ian says this while smiling at her.

"I'm going to get a bowl of strawberries and a chai tea, please." I inform her.

Miya then says her order after she nods and writes it down.

"It'll be out in a few" She replies.

We hadn't noticed the subtle wink she gave him as she walked away.

Miya bursts out laughing, causing me to join in.

"When she returns, I think we should tell her he's gay," Miya suggests.

I giggle and nod in agreement with her.

"Absolutely," I respond.

"Huh?" Ian questions, his eyes darting back and forth between us, puzzled.

We merely laugh and dismiss him with a shake of our heads.

We sit in silence for a minute before Ian breaks it.

"Are you still going to graduation?" He asks me.

Before nodding, I give it some thought.

"Yeah, Tyson would want me too."

He gives me a small grin and nods.

"How are you and Lycian doing?" Miya aks, her elbow propped on the table as she grins at him.

Ian blushes and looks down at his hands before clearing his throat.

"Were good." He responds casually.

"Mhm," I murmur, a grin on my face.

"I bet you are," Miya winks making Ian's face flush.

I giggle at their bickering and turn to the waitress who brought our food.

We caught up with each other for the rest of the time. Miya and Ian were both leaving for summer break, which leaves me here alone.

Regardless of the fact that I was with Angel, I hoped he didn't have any summer break plans.

Don't be selfish Daisy.

I rolled my eyes at my own internal voice and continued to listen to Ian discuss his football scholarship.

I had also received a letter a few weeks ago stating that I had been accepted into the college of my choosing.

Tyson had actually been the one who had first opened it.

He stated he couldn't wait any longer because he was too excited not to open it, and since I 'took too long' to get home, he couldn't wait any longer.

I smiled to myself as I remembered how happy he was that day, how happy he was for me.

I'm sure he'll be looking down on me now, more than ever pleased that I'm graduating and accomplishing so much.

I honestly never expected to lose him, at least not so quickly.

Though I felt slightly better than I did a few days previously, the sadness in my heart had not vanished.

I don't think I'll ever be over it; every day I wake up thinking about him, knowing that I won't be able to feel his hugs or hear his stupid scolding about not washing the clothes. Or, his minor complaints about being a 'delena' rather than a 'stelena' stan.

My eyes started to water again, but this time it was more happy tears than sad.

All of our memories flashed through my mind, starting with the day he called me daffodil, a name I used to despise but now yearned to hear again.

From our first memory to our last.

Before anyone could see it, I wiped the tear away.

After an hour had passed and we had all said our goodbyes, we arranged to meet at the front of the school before graduation tomorrow.

As I walked out of the cafe, it was growing dark, and I was headed towards the bright red car Angel had let me borrow.

He offered I could keep it, but I objected and said no because it was his car, and he rolled his eyes at my response, as he always does.

I got into the fast car and powered it up, driving off the kerb and onto the main road.

I reached for the radio and used the screen to increase the volume.

While the wind whipped through my hair, my fingers tapped against the steering wheel in time with the music.

I smiled to myself as I soaked in the thrill.

As the traffic lights turned red, the vehicle came to a halt.

I leant back in my seat and took a look over the road.

My gaze returned to the rearview mirror, where I observed a black SUV approaching from behind.

You could think I'm exaggerating, but the car seemed to be familiar.

After all that has happened to me, I don't blame myself for becoming a little uneasy when I saw the car.

I decided to dismiss it for the time being and went on my way home as the light turned green.

The sun had completely set, and the half-moon rested among the stars in the sky.

I continued to hum along to the song, my gaze shifting back and forth between the car behind me.

'The men in black,' as Tyson refers to them, were what the two men looked like behind me.

Dressed in black suits with shades on and everything.

I purposefully took a wrong turn to see if they were following me, and as I drove down the street, my gaze remained fixed on the rearview mirror, patiently waiting for them to appear, which they did.

As they trailed behind me, I took a deep breath.

My hand reached inside my purse next to me in search of my phone.

I grabbed the object out of the bag and placed it in front of me once I felt it.

I unlocked it while keeping my eyes on the road. When we came to a crossroad, I turned around and returned to the phone.

I hurriedly pressed the call icon and immediately dialled Angel's number.

As soon as the phone started ringing, I put it on speaker.

"Please pick up," I mutter as a few rings pass by.

As shuffling was heard on the other end, the phone stopped dialling. From the other side, his deep voice was heard, "Daisy?"

"Angel, I'm being followed,"
