《Moonlight ✔︎》Chapter 62

The next morning, I felt a lot more optimistic.
Angel and I were currently on our way to the 'warehouse'.
We hadn't talked much this morning, and it was surprising that it was more me than him.
I had no idea what to anticipate when I walked into the building. I had no idea how I would feel or respond when I saw his face.
We arrive at a tall building that is covered behind tall trees and bushes, making it difficult to see from distance.
Angel drives along the path and comes to a halt in front of the facility.
The building appeared to be old, but not old enough to be dilapidated or abandoned.
We exited the vehicle and proceeded to the heavily guarded main entrance.
Two hulking men stood outside the building, surrounded by others who appeared to be guarding all the entrances against outsiders.
As we entered the building, the two men at the front door stepped aside for Angel and me, nodding once before returning to their former positions.
As we proceeded through a hall, I gazed over the plain white walls; bodyguards stationed around different spots as we passed through corridors.
Angel led us down a dimly lit corridor until we came to a halt in front of a silver elevator.
He pressed the bottom button and then leant against the wall next to the elevator, looking down at his shoes.
I look blankly at the elevator, waiting for the doors to open.
The warehouse was mostly empty, except for the white couches that were displayed at the entryway when you first came in. Everything else was mostly empty rooms and blank walls.
The sound of a faint ping signalling the arrival of the elevator; the doors opened, and Angel leant off the wall, waiting for me to enter first.
Angel went in behind me as I strolled in and stood at the back. He stood next to me after pressing a button.
"You okay?" He notices my distance and glances down at me.
"Yeah," I respond.
As his fingers rubbed soothing circles on my exposed skin, his arm wrapped around my waist.
"We can leave whenever you're ready, yes?" He says this as he lifts his hand beneath my chin and tilts my head towards his.
Just as the elevator doors opened, I looked up at him and nodded.
My gaze wandered over the dimly lit corridor in front of us, which, to be honest, looked like something out of a horror film.
Angel stepped out, taking me with him and guiding me into the dimly lit corridor with his arm around my waist.
We had finally made it to another door after walking all the way down the corridor. It was a massive black steel door, guarded by two bodyguards who moved aside to allow Angel to walk through.
Angel took the doorknob in his hands and turned open the heavy door.
My gaze trailed over the darkened room as I moved after him.
The room was enormous, wide and empty, and it appeared to be more like a basement, although a very huge one.
I took a glance around the room before noticing the bodies bound to the chairs.
Lycian and Elio conversed in hushed tones as they stood to the side.
My gaze was drawn to the girl who had been the root of all my sufferings.
Her face was clean, but blood streamed from her neck, arms, and thighs as I examined her from head to toe. Knife-like wounds appeared all over her body.
Her red hair was oily at the roots, and her green eyes were crimson around the irises when she linked them to mine.

As she began to chuckle to herself, her expression turned into a sinister grin, an evil sparkle in her devil-like eyes.
"The princess has arrived," Her voice is raspy and scratchy as she speaks.
My jaw was clenched, but I didn't shift my sight away from her.
The bile of rage coursed through my veins, and watching her shrivel in misery gave me a twisted sense of comfort. I didn't enjoy the feeling, but every time I felt like I shouldn't be doing this,
Tyson's dying face crept into my mind, and everything eventually faded away.
Her laughter echoed throughout the room, like if I were some sick joke to her.
My legs had moved on their own, pacing towards the monster, without thinking.
As the sound of a slap echoed down the basement walls, her eyes widened in shock.
After I slapped my hand across her cheek, everything and everyone fell silent.
My fists clench as I stare down at her, yearning to hit her mascara-smudged face.
My hatred towards her was expressed by the red handprint on her pale cheek, but it wasn't enough; I needed more.
She cocked her head in my way, her wicked eyes piercing my skull as if firing imaginary bullets.
"You're a pùssy." She sneers.
"A worthless, insecure, slù-
I cut her off before she could finish by picking up the revolver from the dirty floor and aiming it at her leg before pressing the trigger.
As she thrashed around in the chair, the deafening gunshot bounced off the walls, her screams of pain ringing in my ears.
"Wanna continue?" Her screams of pain fill the room as I ask.
Her chained hands hold the handles alongside her while her thigh bleeds, crimson blood falling onto the ground.
As her watering eyes stare up at me, she lets out a throaty laugh.
"You should be thanking me." She announces.
"You have more freedom now that your snobby cousin is dead. There are no parents, cousins, or other relatives left."
"Your worthless self is enough for this worl-
Angel cut her off as he grabbed her by the throat and dug his pistol into the side of her head, causing her to wince.
"If you say one more fucking word, I swear to God, I'll make sure you never talk again." He says this while pointing the pistol to her mouth.
As he adds more pressure to her neck, her eyes water and she glares at him through her glossy eyes.
"F-Fùck y-you." She grasps out.
"No thanks," Angel mumbles, letting her go mercilessly.
As he let go of his grip, she gasped for air, and I stood there speechless as she clenched her teeth in pain.
The sharp blade on the ground drew my attention, and the gleaming weapon sparked some type of evil in me as I remembered my cousin's lifeless figure.
I quickly raised the blade from the ground and turned to face Delilah.
As I moved up to her, the searing fire in my palms raced, and I flipped the blade between my fingers.
Her jaw clenched as she stared at me, and her eyes hooded as the suffering became too much for her to bear, yet she battled it and held her head up as she watched me step towards her.
I put my hands on the chair and knelt to her level once I was in front of her.
As I peered right into her green eyes, my eyes met hers.
I take the blade and sink it into her leg, "You deserve everything that's coming your way."

She screams, and the sound is pure bliss to my ears.
I leave the blade in her leg, which only adds to her anguish as she clenches her hands to free herself from the tight grip.
I then took the blade out of her in a slow motion after her cries had died down. More painful screaming filled the basement.
"Daisy?" A distant voice called out
I tilted my head and turned to the voice, my eyes met familiar green eyes.
As a bundle of nerves passed through me, my heart raced and my palms got clammy.
I suddenly felt vulnerable at this specific moment.
I didn't know what to expect when I faced him.
What I hadn't expected was feeling weak. For myself and Tyson, I wanted to be strong.
As I glanced at Francis, a wave of pain washed over me.
I stepped over to him, moving away from his sister.
His face was battered and wounded, as were his arms and legs, and he was strapped to a chair.
As I stood in front of Francis, I had unconsciously put the silver pistol into my hand.
"I'm sorry Daisy, I didn't want to." With a shake of his head, he expresses his displeasure.
As I face the killer of my cousin, best friend, and brother, I stare at him blankly, my heart racing.
As he looked into my eyes, his green eyes were glistening with tears.
"I did it to save my sister. I couldn't let her leave me, she's the only family I had left,"
"Tyson was, too!" I became enraged.
He flinches as tears fall silently from his eyes.
I swallow the lump in my throat and give him a cold stare.
"How could you?" I start staring at him.
As he looks at me, his eyes widen, and a single tear escapes my eyes.
"Tyson was also my last living family," I cried, "yet you chose to save your insane sister who had me kidnapped, assaulted, threatened, and attempted to kill my boyfriend multiple times."
As I spun back on my heel, I gave him a disapproving shake of my head.
"I thought we were friends, Francis," I say more to myself than to him.
As tears streamed down my cheeks, I turned around, and I felt myself begin to break.
"I trusted you, and you betrayed me," I whisper, the revolver in my hand begging to be fired.
Slowly, my arm rose from my side and grazed across his forehead.
"Please, Daisy, don't do this." Francis begs.
As I held the gun to his head, my hands shook and tears streamed down my face as I stared at him.
As I pressed it into his head, a sob escaped my lips.
My fingers began to pull the trigger, but then they stopped.
Because I knew deep down that Tyson wouldn't want me to do this, that he wouldn't want me to kill him. I was better than that, better than Francis.
My body was wrenched with sobs when the gun slid out of my hands. As I became a shuddering mess, Angel caught my body in his arms.
My hand came to my face as I violently shook my head.
Through my hopeless sobbing, I cry, "I'm sorry, I couldn't."
"Shh, baby, it's all right." Angel whispers to me, wrapping his arms around my waist.
My entire body is encircled by his arms, allowing me to cry into his chest.
"I'm here, moonlight," He says this while he rubs my back in a calming motion.
As he lifted me into his arms and began to walk away, I sobbed into his neck.
"Finish them off," As he took us out of the room, I heard Angel demand.
My sobs increased rapidly as my mind reminded me of how much of a coward I am and how much Tyson would have resented seeing me like this.
"God, Angel, I'm such a horrible person." I murmur under my breath as my arms tighten around his neck, refusing to let go.
"Daisy, stop." He says firmly.
"I don't know what's wrong with me." I speak quietly to myself.
"There's nothing wrong with you." He tilts my chin to face him.
"You're just grieving." Looking into my eyes, he explains.
I turn away from him, my heart aching.
"Do you think Tyson would hate me?" I ask, my gaze returning to his.
He leans against the wall, staring at me, as we enter the elevator.
"No, Daisy,"
"Even if you were the one with the gun, he wouldn't even hate you then." He whispers as he tucks my hair behind my ears.
As he calmed me, I placed my head on his shoulder.
He walked us out the door as it opened.
Angel led us to the car and helped me into the passenger seat.
I took a shaky breath as I fastened the seatbelt around me and Angel slid into the driver's seat on his side.
He started the car before putting his hand through mine.
I raised my eyes to him as he brought our interlaced hands to his lips and kissed them.
Before laying back in the seat, I smiled at him through blurry eyes.
I sat there watching him drive, feeling at ease in his presence.
My phone vibrates in my pocket, hence I reach for it and pull it out.
I looked down to discover that I had revived a message from Ian.
Unfortunately, I had to inform them of the situation and explain all that had happened.
Although thanks to Lycian they had already known, though I had to tell them about Tyson.
When I called Miya to tell her, she went completely silent for a minute on the phone, and I honestly thought she'd hung up.
Before hanging up, Miya conveyed her condolences to me. She explained that she needed some alone time to process everything.
And I understand how difficult it is to receive terrible news, especially over the phone in the midst of the day.
Ian's message claimed that she was ok and that they were both coming by to see me; I replied that I won't be staying at the house anymore, so we planned to meet up at a nearby cafe.
My nerves and, more importantly, my soul felt more at ease on the way home than they had in the previous week.
Perhaps visiting Francis wasn't such a bad idea after all. I began to regret coming, although if I hadn't gone to meet him, I would have been miserable for a long time.
As I rested my head on Angel's lap, a weight was lifted from my shoulders.
The cool spring breeze felt good against my skin, and my gaze was drawn to the moon.
As the moonlight shined down upon the earth, the serene circle set my mind at ease.
