《Moonlight ✔︎》Chapter 56

My head was pounding horrendously when I awoke.

My body was tense, and my bones seemed to be barely functioning.

I gradually opened my eyes, adjusting to the strong light.

My eyes narrowed slightly as I scanned the room, my mind blank and confused.

Wheres Angel?

My left ear was ringing, and the other appeared to be blocked; muffled voices could be heard from a distance it was as if I were underwater and hearing voices from above.

My eyes had adjusted and I looked around the room, which was dark except for the light shining down on me from the ceiling.

My heartbeat quickened as I realised I wasn't in the hospital room with Angel anymore; it felt like I was in a basement or possibly an underground room.

It was filthy, and it smelled like literal cows shít.

There were several stains on the walls and flooring beneath me, and the walls were a dark grey and chipped.

In the far corner, I could make out the figure of a table and chair against the wall, and there was one solitary small window that was closed but let the moonlight indirectly above me.

I bit my lower lip nervously and reached for my hand to run through my hair, but it became stuck, and my unaware self realised I was tied up.

I was curled up in a ball in the corner of this dreadful room, my wrists and feet tied behind me.

I felt something drop from the side of my head, and I assumed it was blood because of the throbbing pain in the same spot.

Oh my god.

Breathe, Daisy.

I attempted to remember what had happened or how I had ended up here, but I couldn't recall anything.

It was as if the entire memory had been swept away from my mind.

Okay, easy strategy, just take steps back.

I tried to remember my last memory, which was Angel who had stormed out of the room after looking at something on my phone.

Then it all started to fall back into place.

Flashback ~

9:58 P.M

I read the time slowly, my heart and head throbbing from anxiety.

I rose slowly from the bed and began making my way to the door, wiping my palms on my leggings as they began to sweat.

Just as I latched onto the handle, someone had bursted in.

I stumbled back as the door crashed open and a masked man clad in all black walked in.

A huge gun was slung over his shoulder, and he held a white cloth in his hand.

His eyes looked up at mine, and I felt my heart drop. I realised it was the same familiar eyes that had been threatening me for the previous few weeks. I gazed at him shocked and slowly began to back away.

"Please, don't." I cry out as my back hits the wall.

He began to walk closer to me with his finger to his lips.

"Shh, princess, it'll be okay." He says this as he gets closer and closer.

I looked around the room for a way out, but it didn't seem like luck was on my side.

Two more men, clothed in all black and wearing masks that covered half of their faces, appeared behind the one approaching me.

They were blocking the window and door entrances.

All I could do at the time was take a deep breath and reassure myself that everything will be well.

As he twisted me around and slammed my back to his front, the man's hand went over my mouth and his other hand pulled both of my arms behind my back.

"Shh, baby," He murmurs darkly in my ear, almost making me gag from the sound.

The stench of a dreadful odour fills my lungs when his hand is replaced with the white cloth, and I immediately feel dizzy.

My useless cries and efforts were cut short as my body became limp, my eyes closed and slowly drifted me away into the darkness.

End of flashback ~

I gulped and shut my eyes harshly at the sudden memory.

All the muffled voices suddenly came to a halt, and the sound of a door opening and closing stirs my attention.

Heavy footsteps could be heard from the farthest corners of the room as if they were mocking me.

Each stride was heavy and slow, which just added to my nervousness.

The main source of light in the room was the bright moonlight shining down on me through the window.

The footsteps came to a halt at the bottom of the distant staircase, a silhouette could be seen in the darkness from afar, and excruciatingly slow steps were approaching me.

I stared at the figure, both curious and alarmed; I could tell it was a male by the broad shoulders, slightly strong arms, and tall stature.

His feet walked him all the way to me, until he was an inch away from the light, an inch away from revealing his true identity.

As he came into the light my jaw dropped and my eyes widened when I saw who stood before me.

His usual evil smirk was plastered across his lips, his blonde shaggy hair was tousled, and eyes like the devil's gazed down at me, filled with nothing but pure malice.

"Michael?" I rasp out, my voice was absolutely dry and croaky.

He laughs darkly, and the sound sends shivers up my arms.

"The one and only, baby." He says amusedly as he laughs to himself.

Wasn't he supposed to be dead?

I stare at him in disbelief.

He smirks when he notices my shocked expression, and it all comes back to me as I stare into his eyes.

"You were the one threatening me?" I point out, my voice tinged with venom.

He kneels in front of me, his face just inches away from mine.

I leant against the wall, attempting to move his attention away from mine.

"I was. Daisy, you're a smart girl, I assumed you'd worked it out by now." He says this while dipping his head and grabbing a strand of my hair in his hands.

"If you were supposed to be dead, how the fuck would I have figured it out?" I question him sharply.

He disapproves by clicking his tongue and shaking his head.

"With that gorgeous mouth of yours, you shouldn't use such terrible language." He murmurs this as his lips approached mine.

I tremble under the weight of his presence.

"Your obnoxious boyfriend had no clue his men would be so easily fooled." He mocks.

I frown, confused.

"What do you mean?"

He leans back and takes a seat, settling in, before bringing my body closer to him.

As he drags me onto his lap, I squeal at the unexpected action of his dirty hands contacting my waist.

"Get off me!" I shriek as I wiggle free from his hold.

He sighs and places me next to him, grumbling.

As he spreads his legs and begins to talk, I look at him with disgust.

"Romano made sure I was taken care of after the little fight you had with me. He and his pathetic friends knocked me out and then handed me over to his men to be killed." He says, clenching his jaw and looks at the window above me.

"I made a deal with the two men just before they could shoot me, telling them that if they let me go, I'd give them each three million dollars from my father's bank. They let me go after I handed them two checks. It was a simple matter of just killing some random on the street and claiming their body as my own."

I consumed everything he had just told me, trying to add everything together though pieces were still missing.

"I'm still confused. How did you manage to get away with it all?"

He shrugs and continues to twirl my hair, which irritates me immensely.

"That's when the real fun begun. I had nowhere to go and was unfortunate enough to be stuck in an alleyway one night, where I was discovered by a woman. She took me in as one of her men and exploited me as a spy for weeks, watching you and your boyfriend as we prepared a plan to steal all of his and his father's money."

"Is this woman the leader of the Slavics?" I ask him.

He grins and leans in close, his gaze moving from my lips to my eyes.

"I knew you were smart." He says placing a kiss on the corner of my mouth.

I turn away from his contact, the touch making the hairs on the back of my neck spring up.

"That night, you both went to the carnival, which we had diligently planned to use the minor scandal with our men to divert his attention away from you, as you would otherwise be left alone, and then boom, I show up and threaten you with the money." He says dramatically, laughing to himself like a maniac.

His attention goes back to me, his eyes scanning my features as he began to talk again.

"However, you disobeyed my instructions. Instead, you chose to ruin the plan by opening your slùtty mouth. Our boss, on the other hand, was adamant about not doing anything else up to then. Instead, she wanted you. She reasoned that if she had you in the palm of our hands, Romano would be keen on finding you, which is exactly what we wanted."

"I'm still not sure what I'm doing here?" I say confused and irritated.

As he shakes his head, he places his finger on my lips.

"Patience, princess," He mummers, getting closer to my face.

"She wants you, because you are the key to our gang becoming the world's next and most powerful Mafia. We'll show your boyfriend your form as soon as they find you and blackmail him into handing over his power, money, and entire mafia to us in exchange for you."

"Your all fùcking sick." I spit out as I lean away from him.

His smirk fades and he becomes visibly furious, sending a shiver down my spine.

I collide into the wall as he towers over me, his hand reaching out to grab my chin and forcing my face in his direction.

"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be in this situation." He sneers.

"Don't touch me!" I scream.

He chuckles and pulls my face in closer, his breath fanning my face and making me wrinkle it in disgust.

"We both know that I could fùck you better than he ever could." He rasps.

It was now my turn to laugh, however it wasn't a humorous laugh, but rather a dry one.

"You wouldn't have had the chance too." I choke out.

"And I think we both know that you could never pleasure me the way he does." A small smirk comes onto my face as I realise I hit a sensitive spot to his evil heart.

That appeared to trigger him more than anything else, as he yanked me up by my hair, sending a scorching pain through my head.

"Bítch, I'd keep your mouth shut if I were you." He growled and yanked my head towards him, clutching my hair hard.

Then he brought his fist up to my face, slamming it into my cheek.

My body swung back, and his death grasp on my head released.

I was sure clumps of my hair would be falling out now, but before I could process the first blow, another was delivered to my jaw, causing me to scream in pain.

I couldn't help myself because my hands were bound and I was desperate to have them untied.

"I believe you should know where you stand." He whispers darkly before kicking my stomach hard with his foot.

My cries continued as silent tears streamed down my cheeks; I refused to show him any signs of satisfaction, but It was out of my control now.

Another punch landed to my face, dripping blood down my nose and reopening the wound on the side of my forehead.

"P-Please stop." I croaked out, as my body shuddered with pain.

A booming male voice calls out from the staircase.

"Michael, the boss is looking for you." He yells.

Michael returns my stare and kneels down to my level, his hand firmly gripping my chin.

With his figure looming over me, my vision got blurry.

"Don't worry, princess, there's much more waiting for you."

Just as I thought he was about to walk away, his lips crushed against mine.

As I remained still, he kissed me forcefully, my consciousness drifting in and out of reality.

He stepped back and threw my head into the cold concrete before straightening up.

With that, I see his imposing figure turn away from me and walk away, leaving me in a pit of pain.
