《Moonlight ✔︎》Chapter 44

We arrived at my house safely.

The trip was silent, and the tension was obvious.

I tried to fall asleep, but all I managed to do was close my eyes and relax as much as I could.

Angel parked the car and exited on his side, turning around and opening the door to my side.

I walked out after thanking him.

I turned around to face him as we approached the front door.

When I raised my gaze to him, I noticed that his eyes were cold and his face was expressionless.

"What's wrong Daisy?" He asks.

I shake my head and respond.

"Nothing's wrong, I'm just tired." I tell him, hoping to sound believable.

Though I don't think he believed me as he stared at me intensely.

I averted my glance from his and gulped as I examined my shoes.

"Thank you, Angel, for tonight." I glance up at him and say honestly.

His gaze remained intense and cold and I sighed turning around to the door.

He had grabbed my arm before I could even get inside the door.

He spun me around quickly and gave me a deafening stare that made me want to crawl into a hole and die.

"Daisy, tell me," He says sternly.

I sigh and run a hand through my hair, getting frustrated.

"Leave it alone, Angel. I told you I was just tired." I told him harshly.

His jaw clenched tightly and he let go of my arm.

He gave me a single nod before turning around and walking away.

I bit my lower lip as tears welled up in my eyes.

I hurried up the stairs and into my room as soon as I entered the house.

I locked the door and exhaled a sigh of relief.

I sat down on my bed and leant back against the bed frame, after placing all my things on my desk.

My mind raced as I stared blankly at the decorated wall in front of me.

I simply considered all of my options.

There weren't many, and the pounding in my head made it difficult for me to concentrate.

I've never been a fan of stress.

I couldn't just take 500 thousand dollars from Angel; I wouldn't want him to think I'm after his money.

I couldn't tell him about it either; there was no way I could without drawing attention to myself or being caught.

I have no doubt that they have someone monitoring over me at all times, and that all of my electronics can be taken over.

To make matters worse, if I told anyone, my family would be in danger, and if I didn't pay them the money, they would still be at risk.

To put it another way, I'm pretty much screwed.

I'd been awake the entire night, utterly absorbed in my thoughts.

The sun rose and it was Saturday before I knew it.

I got up to go to the bathroom and stopped dead in my tracks as I walked past the mirror.

I looked like a complete train wreck.

My eyes were red from crying, and I looked completely pathetic sulking about all this.

My face was pale and I had dark circles under my eyes; I appeared as if I hadn't seen the sun in a year.

I sighed and shook my head as I headed to the bathroom to do my business.

After that, I brushed my teeth and cleaned up before changing into sweatpants and a hoodie.

Surprisingly, the one I had grabbed was Angel's which was the most comfortable one I had.

I slid it over my head and let it smother my small frame.

As I thought, I sank back down on the bed and drew my head into my hands.

My thoughts flashed back to the night Angel dropped me off.

I didn't mean to be rude or push him away; I didn't want to, but I wasn't thinking clearly at the time, and I still am.

My body ached with guilt.

He probably doesn't want you now.

Tears streamed down my cheeks, and I bit my lower lip to keep them back.

Stop being weak, Daisy.

My body jerked as the door slammed open behind me.

Tyson grinned as he walked through the door, his eyes searching for me.

When his gaze fell on me, his smile faded and a look of concern appeared on his face.

"Oh no, Daisy." He says rushing over to me.

He placed his big arms around me when I let out a sob.

As he engulfed me, he lifted me and placed me on his lap.

I wrapped my arms around him and sobbed helplessly in his embrace.

He caressed my back and assured me that everything would be fine, even though I didn't believe him.

We continued in this manner for a while, until my sobbing turned into sniffles.

Tyson drew me back and pushed part of my hair away from my face.

I gazed up at him with teary eyes, while he was focused with worry.

"What's happened, daffodil?" He asks, his tone soft.

I shook my head and kept my lips shut.

He sighs and nods his head.

"If you don't want to tell me, that's okay." He says understandingly.

Trust me, I would if I could.

"Do you want me to make you some tea or something?" He asks.

In answer, I nod my head.

He nods and sets me on the bed, wrapping the blankets around me and promising to return.

He returned with a tea not long after, and I thanked him.

"Have you eaten?" He asks.

I shake my head no.

"You need to eat something." He says sternly.

"I don't feel like eating, Tyson." I tell him, my voice hoarse.

He sighs and runs a hand through his hair.

He was about to say something but his phone cut him off.

I looked at him warily as he answered the phone and listened to the other person; he rolled his eyes and replied with an alright before hanging up.

"I've gotta go into work tonight." He tells me.

"Will you be alright? or do you prefer that I stay home?" He asks, nervously gazing at me.

With a shake of my head, I sipped my tea.

"I'll be okay Ty." I tell him reassuringly.

He walks over to my desk and picks up my laptop with a nod.

"Let's have a Harry Potter marathon," He says this while grinning.

I giggle softly and shift my weight over to allow him to join me in bed.

He removes his shoes, climbs into the sheets, and logs into Netflix on my laptop.

Tyson and I both grew up with the Harry Potter film series, and we were both completely captivated by it.

As for the rest of the day, Tyson and I spent time binge-watching Harry Potter, and he had to leave soon after.

He bid me goodbye and placed money on the kitchen counter for takeout.

The events of the previous five to six hours may have made me forget why I was there in the first place, but that does not change the reality of the situation I was in.

Since it was now dark outside, I decided to take a shower.

I locked the bathroom door and stripped off my clothing.

I tied a bun in my hair and then turned on the hot water.

As I stepped into the shower, I let out a pleased sigh as the warm water poured over my body, fully soothing me.

Suddenly, an ache in my neck jolted me awake from my daze.

I stepped out from the hot water and felt my neck, it felt bruised.

It was most likely due to the man's firm grip on me.

For the hundredth time today, I sighed, and began to wash myself.

I had gotten out of the shower after an hour and wrapped the white fluffy towel over my body.

I walked straight to my closet after unlocking the bathroom door, keeping my head down.

Before heading back out, I collect the clothing I had worn previously and slip them on.

A startled scream leaves my lips as Angel laid sprawled out on my bed.

He was leaning against the headboard of my bed, an arm behind his head, staring blankly at me.

Oh no.
